Everton intended to hold discussions with Sean Dyche over an extension to his current contract but the hefty points penalty handed down by the Premier League and the pending appeal by the club have held that process up.
That’s according to the Daily Mail who say that the Blues’ hierarchy would like the former Burnley boss to continue his efforts to keep Everton in the Premier League and lead then into the new stadium.
Dyche’s existing terms are up in 18 months’ time but the Mail claim that negotiations over a new deal have been shelved for the time being while the club awaits further clarification of its position vis-a-vis the appeal and the financial implications that might come from another negative panel decision.
Dyche was appointed as Frank Lampard’s successor in January and successfully kept Everton up last season thanks to a final day victory over Bournemouth.
He endured a rocky start to the current campaign, failing to register a league win until late September but had lifted the club into a comfortable 14th place in the table before the record points deduction dumped Everton back into the relegation zone.
