Everton are said to be interested in taking Brighton midfielder Steven Alzate on loan after he became available following the arrival at the Amex Community Stadium of Carlos Baleba.
The Seagulls landed the Cameroonian yesterday in a €30m deal from LOSC Lille and that has reduced the chances of Alzate breaking back into their side now that he is back from a spell with Standard Liege.
The Colombian midfielder, who can operate as a No.8 or No.6, is looking for regular football like he was getting in Belgium and, according to Alex Crook of TalkSport, Everton and Fiorentina could offer him a fresh opportunity for the season.
The Blues are potentially in the market for a central midfielder following the departure of Tom Davies on a free transfer over the summer.
Alzate played 27 league games for Standard last season, scoring 3 goals and has 41 Premier League appearances for Brighton.
