Thierno Barry looking forward to on-field partnership with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

Thierno Barry is excited about the prospect of playing alongside Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall this season and praised the midfielder’s quality. 

The two new Everton signings were on the pitch together for the first half against AS Roma at Hill Dickinson Stadium. It was the first start for Barry, who was signed from Villarreal this summer. Dewsbury-Hall, who had arrived from Chelsea earlier that week, also made his first appearance in a royal blue shirt in that friendly.

Speaking about his new teammate, Barry said, “The first time I met him in training, I saw the quality of him. I think he can give me [good passes] this season.

“I'll try to create [those opportunities] this season. So I try to create a good relationship with him."

The 22-year-old French striker can’t wait for the Premier League season to get underway. Asked to reflect on his life as a Toffee, he added, “Good. The club, the fans [had] a good welcome for me, so I feel good.

“I want to start the Premier League fast and to feel what it's like to play in the Premier League.

“I came here for that, so I'm very excited to play. I think now it's difficult to sleep because I just want to start quickly."

Everton will begin their 2025/26 season with a trip to Elland Road to take on newly-promoted Leeds United on Sunday.
