Everton’s ongoing recruitment drive to bolster the academy ranks has turned toward the South West, with highly rated Bristol Rovers forward Ollie Dewsbury arriving at Finch Farm for a week-long trial.
According to local reports from Bristol Live, the Blues have established themselves as front-runners for the 18-year-old Welsh youth international, beating out stiff competition from the likes of Arsenal, Fulham, and Stoke City.
Should Dewsbury impress the youth coaching setup during his time on Merseyside, Everton are expected to complete a formal transfer for a six-figure compensation fee. Dewsbury has been on the books of Bristol Rovers since he was 7 years old.

Despite his youth, Dewsbury arrives with a level of men’s senior experience rarely seen in trialists at this stage of their development.

If signed, he would join the Under-21s side rather than the first-team squad, slotting into the revamped Academy model alongside recent summer arrivals such as Kai Hutchison, Zach Lee, and Tom McDermott.

The better answer is he signed, and then loaned to aid his development. U21s is not the environment to develop future first teamers. The physical & competitive demands are just not there.

But if he joins us, he'll never kick a first team ball and we all know it. Then, two or so years down the line, there'll barely be a ripple in the news as he joins Norwich City or someone like that.

Thanks for that post. I was wondering how many goals he had scored.
Another player released by Spurs played for the U21s last night v Shrewsbury, he had been at Spurs since he was 8– he was playing as a trialist so I presume he'll be going to different clubs until he gets a contract.
I'm not against these young lads coming here because we just might get a good player that way.

I never saw the game, just got information about the game from another Everton website where one fan said Tamen, a centre-back, stood out for the 60 minutes he was on the field.
I think we signed him for a small fee at the start of last season.

By all means loan some players out, just keep some enough to field a team with subs.

I hope he wows the management team and joins the club on a permanent basis. Especially given the fact we have lost some potential just lately in the U21s.
