Season › 2025-26 › News The Rumour Mill Ivan Toney on loan from the Saudi League? Michael Kenrick | 19/10/2025 7comments | Jump to last Ivan Toney has Premier League experince but this season he's still playing in the Saudi Pro League for Al-Ahli, yet some think he could return to play for Everton. One suggestion is that 29-year-old Ivan Toney could return to the Premier League for Everton in January to solve the perennial striker problem. But that would no doubt require a substantial transfer fee as well as a very high personal salary for the player who last played for Brentford in the Premier League, scoring 4 goals in 17 appearances before securing a 4-year deal with the Saudis running through 2028. This dubious rumour takes a number of different shapes depending what outlet you read. And in some quarters, Toney's name is still toxic after he was suspended from playing any football for 8 months by the FA after breaching betting rules. It seems highly unlikely Everton would want to have anything to do with him. Reader Comments (7) Note: the following content is not moderated or vetted by the site owners at the time of submission. Disclaimer () Derek Knox 1 Posted 19/10/2025 at 13:51:42 Probably clickbait (hope not) but we have been loosely linked with Ivan Toney, who is currently with Saudi side Al Hilal. Wages may be a problem, but I think he would not turn down a chance to return to Premier League football! Do a swap with Beto... lol. 😂 Andrew Keatley 2 Posted 21/10/2025 at 13:25:48 Just seen a very speculative article linking us with a January move for Ivan Toney - with the prospect of service from Grealish being exactly the sort of thing that might help entice Toney back to the Premier League, with half a season to stake a claim for a World Cup squad place.Right now that sounds incredibly appealing to me -- although Toney is supposedly a Red, and also might prefer a reunion with Thomas Frank at Spurs -- so it's probably unlikely. Michael Kenrick 3 Posted 21/10/2025 at 14:23:36 Links, please, guys.Or at least tell us where you're reading this shite. Thanks! Mark Murphy 4 Posted 21/10/2025 at 14:47:08 Erm, its your name on the article, Michael?? Kieran Kinsella 5 Posted 21/10/2025 at 15:00:00 If you Google Ivan Toney Everton, the only story from a reputable site that comes up is the New York Times from 2022 with Toney alleging Everton fans racially abused his family. That apart one of these nonsense sites speculates WHU want to sign him despite his £525k weekly wage, and from the it seems we came into the mix from the i Paper where in response to that rumor, their writer suggested that if he wants to leave Saudi he would be better advised to join Everton instead. So in essence. It's all fiction. Michael Kenrick 6 Posted 21/10/2025 at 15:07:31 Doh! It's like predictive text whenever I post -- it just assumes I wrote it!Well, I did put the words into the ToffeeWeb piece that shows up on your screen... but I was looking for was what that speculative article was Andrew saw? And Derek's post was from a couple of days before, talking about Toney. Oh yea, one was in the i Paper gossip, now I remember. Brendan McLaughlin 7 Posted 21/10/2025 at 15:37:26 It's a nothing story coming from the i Paper. The writer is merely suggesting that Everton and Toney would be a good fit if the latter was minded to return to the Premier League in January.
