Everton’s early-season stat leaders: Armstrong’s mileage, Pickford’s clean sheets, Grealish’s chance creation

Harrison Armstrong

Everton have celebrated Harrison Armstrong’s status as the Premier League’s marathon man on social media, with the teenager leading the league for distance covered.

Armstrong has averaged more than 12km per 90 for the Blues, in a strong start to the season.

To fill the international break boredom, I thought I’d research which other Everton names are statistical leaders in the Premier League so far this season.

Jordan Pickford – Clean Sheets (3)

Everton headed into the international break with the joint-best defensive record in the Premier League, having conceded just three goals in five games. Jordan Pickford’s three clean sheets have him leading the Golden Glove race in a five-way tie, alongside Alisson Becker, Konstantino Tzolakis, David Raya, and Bart Verbruggen.

He’s also made the fourth-most saves and has the second-best save percentage.

Pickford has five clean sheets in seven games across all competitions, after shut-outs in both League Cup ties.

Jarrad Branthwaite – Shots blocked (11)

Jarrad Branthwaite’s blocked more shots than any other Premier League player, with 11 for the campaign to date.

Branthwaite’s good form earned him an England call-up during the current break, but he’s barely featured in fixtures against Spain and Czechia. Thomas Tuchel should be giving the 24-year-old a long-overdue opportunity to impress.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – Deep Completions (13)

Stunning strike on the opening weekend aside, things haven’t quite clicked for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall this season.

However, it’s not for want of trying. Dewsbury-Hall ranks second in the Premier League for shots in 2026/27 and leads the league for deep completions. A rarely-referenced metric, a deep completion is defined as any non-cross pass that is successfully completed into a 20-metre radius of the opponent’s goal. The 27-year-old is trying to make things happen.

Jack Grealish – Chances created per 90 (4.0)

It didn’t happen until late in the window, but Jack’s back in royal blue and has already shown glimpses of last season’s form.

Grealish has played just 128 minutes in the Premier League so far, but he’s averaged four chances created per 90 minutes. Though it’s a small sample size, it is a league high, ahead of names including Rayan Cherki and Pascal Gross.

Thierno Barry – big chances missed (6)

Not all stats are positive, though this one should come with context.

Thierno Barry’s second season has started positively, with five goals in seven appearances across all competitions. Barry remains a work in progress; he leads the league for big chances missed (6), but he’s at least getting into good areas and using his 6ft 5in frame to good effect. For context, Erling Haaland ranks equal second for big chances missed, with four.
