Well I make it £10 mil for Arteta, plus £4 mil for Beckford, plus £1.5 mil for Yakubu, plus £5mil for Bily, minus £6 mil for Jelavic = £14.5 mil left over. Plenty I reckon!

Lori, if cheap and young is the way we're going we've got Abdullyev to come in from his permanent exile. Currently enjoying a run in the starting line up for Panionios he certainly can create chances with his speed and skill... though he's more a wide man or second striker according to Wiki.

Out of order there Ian - the dross served up home and away is the main factor added to extremely poor value for money added to many people being affected by the economy.
Personally I can't blame anyone for staying away plus it gets a message across far better than a few hundred walking up Spellow Lane ever will.
If I did'nt have a season ticket I don't think I would be at every game either.

Wouldn't be lovely if we got this kid along side Cerci, Jelavic and maybe Hoarau from PSG. Would give the squad the freshen up it needs.

There's some right bargains to be had in the January sales.

I'd prefer we spent our money on Rodallega and Hoillett if we can as there both proven in the premier league. Throw a deal for Drenthe in the hat and thats £25m worth of player for next to fuck all.

He looks to be a great buy, especially for 500k.
20 yrs of age, and already knocking on the door of the national team. He's got European experience.

I just hope his working attitude is better than that of an average greek.

Also, I would think he's not given more than 10-15k a week.

Still hope we get the croatian fella too..

Ownership had to let some money go. Had to. Without your pressure BU, we wouldn't have moved on Jelavic.

How he's going to do remains to be seen. But, I'm convinced, no move would have been made without pressure brought to bear on Kenright/Green etal.

Make that £9 m for Arteta (£1 million went to his old club, an add on from the 2005 deal); £2.5 million for Beckford (the rest are add ons, and so not certain); but you did miss £2m for Vaughan. So that's £15 m including the Yak (£1.5 m).

But January sales mean that we will have spent about £3m nett - Jelavich, Gibson (you forgot him), Donovan loan; and then there is the falling revenues, probably costing us some £3 million. So I make it £9 million to the banks.

I think the banks want more (see the company's financial results for year to May 31 2011) over the next couple of years; They want about £10 million more unless we can convince them to stretch repayments out, a la the way banks are doing all over the country to stop house repossessions. We may have a problem.

The banks are keen to stop house repossessions as sales would bring far lower prices than in 2007, and so wreck bank balance sheets, and with that the chances of bonuses. "Extend and pretend" policies are working for homeowners - though not for the country or the taxpayer - but will banks be interested in doing the same for a football club? I have my doubts. If we can convince them to just take £5 million over the next year instead of another £10 m, we will be lucky.

But that still means a transfer kitty of less than nothing for the summer.
