The Mail Bag

Basic English

I don't know if I am being out-of-order here, but over the last few months the TW Mailbag seems to have gone from well thought out pieces to infantile rants with little or no regard to our native tongue.

Now, I'm not saying that everything that I submit is perfect, but I do try and use some basic English in my posts - full stops, commas and capital letters should be the least people can expect!

ps: The name calling has also gone up a level or two - with some people resorting to pure insults (Pricks, wankers, etc) when they disagree with what others are saying.

You are absolutely right, Matt, and we are taking action to rectify the problem. Perhaps you missed my " Bottom of the Barrel" piece? We are clamping down hard on the illiteracy and stupid name calling. Part of the problem correlates with those who use nicknames or do not give their full names and valid e.mail addresses so please help us by following those requests.

IMHO, we have become far too tolerant of the poor English, which I know is a challenge for a lot of people, and I don't mind cleaning up things that are at least reasonably written and presented. But some people are making no effort whatsoever. And for me, the corresponding response is an almost effortless click of the Delete button.
