Player of the Season

Having just been on Paddy Power i came across the betting for Everton's player of the season and was shocked to see Johnny Heitinga is 11th favourite for the award at 33/1. Now besides Pienaar 13/8 and Saha 5/2 surely Johnny is in with a chance.

Who votes for the Everton player of the season? Is it the fans or the players? If it's the fans, I reckon Johnny is in with a shout and we should all lump on at 33/1.

I was just wondering that, Colin. For the first few months, I think it has to be Saha. But then from January to the RS game, I think it has to be Fellaini as I Saha has trailed off a little bit from his early season form. Since Fellaini went down, Heitinga has been our best player (not including Landon Donovan). Throughout the year though, Pienaar has consistently been one of our best and I think he deserves the award. I love John Heitinga, he is fast becoming an Everton legend. But he found his form too late for me to think that he has a chance at "player of the year".

Pienaar the man for me with Fellaini and Saha battling it out for second spot.

Biggest
disappointment? Well for me, Tim Cahill has had a poor season by his usually high standards. Must do better next term and I’m sure he will.
Brightest prospect? Coleman, Rodwell, Gosling ( if only that goal against Man U) maybe Baxter.

And Villian? the usual suspects i suppose - Kenwright, Hibbert, Neville, Osman etc etc

Everyone had a slow start of the season as far as I’m concerned, except Saha. If we were picking a players of the season up to the end of November that would have been a tricky task.

For me, Pienaar has been the most consistent and the best players to watch. Heitinga next and after that Baines.

There are no villains and the repeat of the same old names is becoming tiresome. Its been a difficult season and villains to me are those that hide and don’t give their all. We don’t have any of those players and certainly not Osman, Hibbert or Neville.

Good job I read the whole thread before posting, as I was about to jump on your comments too Zach. Sadly enough, there will be people thinking that though.

No-one has been consistently good all season, Pienaar has had a few stinkers and but he and Fellaini would be amongst my first choices. Heiteinger would be the dark horse

Strange that Johnny is 11th favourite at 33/1, while Bily is 4th favourite at 14/1. I think Bily will be a good player, but he still, let’s say, "adjusting" to the Premier League, and hasn’t been great this season. I’ll probably wait a few more games to put my money on Pienaar, but I might stick a sneaky fiver on Johnny on the side.

Heitinga for me. Certainly not Fellaini – he was awful for the first couple of months of the season. Second would be Baines.

Tim Howard would have to be in there somewhere as well – a couple of mistakes but generally he’s played extremely well.

Saha has been a mixture of brilliance, disappointment & injury. Mind you, I don’t know where we’d be without his goals!

Player of the season ?

If you added up the marks given from each performance [ i’d use Andys Rankin from Bluekipper ] i wonder who would be the true player of the season, i’d bet Howard and Baines would be right up there.
Howard- consistantly decent, a few howlers but less than most.
Neville- great leader, ave player, getting on now
Baines - poor start but England call up says he’s back on form
Hibbert- has improved this season
Distin- started well ,took a dip in form now ok
Yobo- poor season
Heitinga - Shit start now looking shit hot
Osman - looks better in the middle , cant be hard
Pienaar - Always a threat,
Felliani - was ill to start and it showed, began to look like real class before injury
Arteta - To soon
Rodwell- great prospect.
Bily - has a future needs beefing up.
Cahill - Poor by his standards
Saha- On his day , equall to the best in prem
Yak - On his day, when was that ?
Pienaar for me.
