He's not the answer to all of our prayers, but Landon Donovan has had a most satisfactory ten weeks for him and for us during our all too brief encounter.

Although it doesn't win points or sell replica shirts — but who knows? ... Look at what he is saying in California about us (link on the Official Site). "I am an Evertonian".

I'm not in the habit of hugging a Californian I've never met before, but I could manage that if I bumped into him in Stalybridge on a Friday night.

Two priorities for me this summer -

1. Sign Donavan on a permanent deal
2. Get Pienaar signed up to a long term deal

Add a couple of free transfers (Beckford and Ledlley?) and i believe we have an excellent squad for the start of next season.

Fair play to him.. and we enjoyed having him. Wish he could have stayed to the end of the season and hope he does come back permanently.

Two words to all those going crazy about Landon Donovans loan spell and the rush to sign him full time.......Terry Curran!!!

Sean, I see your comparrison but not sure its like for like.

I remember the game that secured Curran’s cult like status - a 5-0 home hammering of the mighty Luton - a game in which the prolific John Bailey managed to score from the halfway line !

To be fair to onovan he has performed over a longer period of time and against higher quality of opposition (all of the top 6). He has provide workrate, quality, pace an most importantly balance to the team for the first time since probably Kanchelskis an Limpar !

So yes, they were both on loan and there has been a clamour from the supporters to sign them both on permanently but i suspect thats were the comparrision ends. I really hope the outcome is the same as with Curran an we eventually sign him on permanently....

Well done Moyes and Donovan. Let’s move on. Anichebe is a different kind of player but his nice goal last week may be the beginning of his rise to a higher status in the opinions of many.What about this Ruiz guy from Twente? Anybody seen him play?

I have to say I didn’t expect much from Donovan but as ever with a new player, I would give him a clean slate and a chance to impress. Safe to say impress he did (Spurs miss aside), and it would have been nice to keep him until the end of the season. Id happily have him back again.

Now he has gone hopefully big Vic will carry on from last week and be a threat from the right, he was doing well there before that shitehouse Nolan crocked him so here’s hoping!

Nice guy, good player. If he plants a few seeds for us in the US no harm will be done.

I really hope he comes back for two or three great seasons. Born a Blue? Hardly - but what a difference te weeks can make.

Tom, I saw Twente in the Europa League the other week away to Werder Bremen. Bremen absolutley murdered Twente. The only player to cause Bremen problems was Ruiz. Looked a decent player.
