On the Official Everton Website, David Moyes says Phil Neville is one of his best 5 signings. Content of my previous posts says I agree... Do you??? And who are the other 4?

I’m not totally sure I’d have Neville in the top 5 Moyes signings, but then Moyes is in the best position to judge in terms of Neville’s overall influence on the team behind the scenes, in training etc.
No doubt that Cahill and Arteta would be in the list. Probably Martyn and Lescott the other two in you included Neville?
Lescott’s obviously unpopular around here now but did a great job for us and we got a fantastic deal for him, even if he did help wreck the start of this season for us.
Pienaar and Howard would probably be next on the list for me. Baines up there too. Moyes has made a lot of excellent signings, I have to say.
Saha is quality no doubt, probably the most natually talented Moyes signing, but to early in his Everton career to be in the top 5.

Being serious, I’m afraid that Moyes’ comment tell us everything we need to know about him and about Nevilles bomb proof status at Everton. Personally I can’t stand Nevilles mindless comments before big games telling us how good we are and what we are going to do to the opposoition. He is as ’busy’ as his equally annoying older brother and actually avery average player....so expect him to spend the next 5 years with that captains armband! And the treatment of seamus Coleman since his debut against Spurs has been an outrage . I’m not saying he is the new Cafu but to be frozen out the way he has suugests that Moyes is a manager without the slightest imagination.

Lecott and Jags to me are a pair. Jags is getting on better than Lescott without eachother, but we don’t know yet. But looks good.
Arteta, Cahill, Pienaar, Jags (i'm limiting it to players actually still playing for the club - plus I don't like the way Joleon had his head turned (rightly or wrongly).
Moyes has signed some gems as I deem, but on the flip side there's the Kroldrups, Beattie's and Davies' of this world to blot his copybook somewhat.

I think Marcus Bent deserves a mention. Crucial goals in a crucial season for us, helped us finish 4th and then we made a 400% profit on him. Not one of the better players Moyes has bought, but great piece of business!

God knows what the real Shandy Andy situation was - will we ever know? Its a bit like who shot Kennedy.
But, Peter, the significant thing about much of the rest of the DM bad list is that they were moved on with reasonable haste. We might even have got some cash back on some of them. And it is a bit historical now. The great man seems to have picked up a trick or two.
Heitinga will be a legend, as will Fallaini. Arteta already is. Tim Cahill must have so many managers wondering how they missed him.

One little irony here is that, without checking, I think that Lee Carsley was the last player bought pre-Moyes. If there was ever a 'Moyes player' for us, it was him. But that comes down to the coach working with what he's inherited.
I know I risk dogs' abuse here, but as a Bily fan, I would tip any gamblers out there to take a chance on him for greatness. After he's had six weeks off in the datcha.
