No strike, no Donovan

If you don't feel like reading this article, basically, it says that the MLS and the players Union have agreed in principle on a deal that will prevent a strike. This means Donovan's loan deal will not be extended this season as the LA Galaxy will be playing football.

So... who fancies our chances of getting him this summer?

He was a good option. Had some good games, had some average games. Gave the team a real lift at the right time but how would he pan out over the rigours of a longer season ?

No point mooning about him forever - not as if he's one for the future.

So, if they can get him great, if not - move on. No biggie.

To be honest I'm not all that bothered about Donovan.

He had a few good games, got a couple of good goals but also had some very average games, missed a sitter against Spurs and ended up on the bench towards the end of his loan.

He was a useful addition to the squad but not as good or as important to Everton as the media would have you believe.

He's 28 years old so even if we did sign him in the summer I wouldn't exactly be that excited.

He wouldn't leave in the summer as that is when the MLS is still playing, if he was to return it wouldn't be until the January window

I think he would be a mote than useful addition. Yes he had some average games but that's the same with every player, in fact he was so good that peole have forgotton that he was only here for 3 months, he had no time for a honeymoon period and took to the EPL like a duck to water, which is no mean feat in itself.

His time here coincided with the 'month of death' and he played aginst the sky 4 as well as the Arab Emirites1, and he wasn't playing in his favoured position.

I thought he wasn't the most skillful but that he was an itelligent player and mainky picked the right option, and he brought a new dimension to our game oh and a bit of pace

Buying him next January might be a possibility, but the price would have to be very right. Our new found friend is no spring chicken already, but he is an athlete and I reckon could still be quick well into his thirties.

Anyway, nothing is likely to happen before then, and you never know, we might be awash with pacey free-scoring forwards by then. Um? No comments required on that thought I guess.
