I may be barking up the wrong tree, but I wonder if the resignation of Ian Whatmore, chief executive of the FA, for quote "with the power wielded by the Premier League within the FA" may have something to do with lack of discipline handed out to certain high profile players?
Only time will tell, if the story is allowed to come out?

if whatmore did resign over 2 sets of rules, this is indeed a big step - but i wonder will it get any decent coverage?
i would like to see the fa disciplinary actions over a season for the champions league teams versus the rest - i dont believe for a minute that it evens out
the fine for wolves fielding a weakened team is a perfect example

No-one has mentioned Torres yet. He should've been booked for kicking up that penalty spot against Manure and then sent off for one of two atrocious tackles - but he gets away with it because he is RS!

Am I wrong or was there no way that the FA could impose a punishment on thuggy Gerrard for the elbow incident because the referee had seen it and dealt with it to his satisfaction ( but to nobody else's)
The FA are a mob of tossers but I don't think you can blame them for this one, it was another one of those kopite, RS loving referees a la Clattenberg.

Didin't Tim get a suspension for the fisticuffs against Newcastle, even though the ref had seen it and dealt with it?
Conspiracies everywhere! Did anybody stop to think that Cahill should have been shown a second yellow (and hence red) for the handball incident at the weekend? No doubt Bolton think Everton get prefential treatment.
Ray you could ask the same twat Wiley why he gave nothing for the ten or eleven fouls by Bolton before he gave Cahill a yellow for his first foul.
Please can someone clarify this. Its when Torres got booked against Utd (don't think it was over the penalty) but SSN showed a clip and he jogs poast the ref hurling abuse and to it looked like he was giving the Ref the 'underarm WANKER' sign. Can someone clarify this as to me it looked assured , but I was only half watching it to be honest. Thanks
PS Gerrard and Rooney are immune from pounishment as the FA want to keep them sweet for the World Cup. Thats my theory
I believe the FA have consulted Stevie G Lar with regards to who should replace Whatmore.
Gavin, that's an entirely separate argument whether or not Cahill did / did not deserve the first yellow.
I don't think that the conspiracy theory for / against any particular team holds true as such. I think it's more down to player profile. It's harder for a ref to send a high profile figure off, irrespective of who he plays for. There have been a number of occasions this season when I think, even as a Blue, Cahill and Neville have been lucky to survive second yellow cards - purely in my opinion because the ref recognises them as relatively high profile.
It is true of course that the "bigger" teams have more high profile players of course ..... which is where the apparent bias may come from.

The disciplinary things the tip of the iceberg isn't it? How about club v country tug-of-war, the "39th" game, TV dictating when games are played, foreign players swamping the top tier of football, ticket pricing, players wages, impossible to enforce respect to officials etc etc.
Bottom line is he knows the PL call the shots in English football - it's my guess he's realised he was only ever going to be their bitch and has gone off to do something more worthwhile instead.

I think it's true that referees' heads are (probably subconsciously) slightly turned in favour of successful clubs.
Which will be good for us in the coming years.
