Hi all, long time reader, first time poster!
Just reading Moyes's comments on Sky Sports claiming in short that City players are individuals, feel little for the club, and are years behind getting a team spirit like Everton. All true perhaps, but that's not the point I'm looking to make...
While playing mind games in an effort to give your side an advantage is a part of the modern game (it certainly worked for the Goodison game v City), comments like this when playing AWAY against a very good side regardless, is surely giving City more motivation to beat us (not that they need much motivating), while serving very little in motivating our own players?
I just feel it was an uncalled for rant that may very well leave us with egg on our faces come 10pm tonight. By all means, say it in the dressing room befire KO, but not publicly. Hope I'm on here tomorrow holding my hands up and saying Moyes knows best...

Agree with you, GJ Butler. There is no need to put down a team before the game - it could very well have the opposite effect.

It's a sign of the times. Media management being key etc. But Moyes needs to realise one thing, and quick (I suspect he does):

We cannot be concerned about some teams with endless bank accounts.What matters is what happens on the field with whatever players you have.We also have players that cost big money and some others who are worth big money if we sell them.City are trying to catch up with Manure.What'swrong with that? We have been playing catch up to Redshite for years.It all comes down to attitude,commitment and coaching in the end and those teams that produce it consistantly usually become winners. Moyes doesn't need to start criticising other teams for what they have.It is totally out of character.
Not only may it give them a motivation... it's bloody petty. Moyes should know better, and be above that kind of shite.
Players should keep their mouths shut. Manager should say what he likes - he is in a position to gage what effect it has or does not have on his players and opposition.

In regards to Moyes comments, I very much imagine they are a response to a question put to him. I very much doubt Mr Moyes phoned up sky to simply 'have a go'. They had an interview with Moyes, asked a number of questions and will quote him accordingly. Its a nothing story to fill the pages with.
City's defence is a mess when they're all fit but I really fancy our chances against them tonight with Lescott and Birdge missing.
I've got a good feeling about tonight and I can't wait to shut them arrogant pricks up by taking 6 points off them this season.

Moyes should remain dignified and not stoop to the level of other spokespersons representing other clubs unless he wants to be classed in the same bracket as those eternal bickerers Benitez and Ferguson. I agree BS doesn't win games so I would prefer he shows more class.

Moyes should do the same thing for every game left this season. He now has assembled enough talent that EPL Silverware aspirations in 2011 are legit. The question is which talent is ready for the grind that ManU and Chelsea accept as part of striving to be the best.
Having DM throw down the gauntlet every week for the rest of the season will help find out who's up for the pressure and who's not. Some of the "who's not"s are actually very talented players. Sell them off at season's end.

Despite our manager’s comments about disruption, Joleon Lescott doesn’t bother me:
(1) We got about £15 million more for him than he is worth;
(2) I think we had his best years ;
(3) His injury record makes him a risk and his career could end at any moment;
(4) He is a mercenary (understandably) and was being offered silly money – short career as a footballer and all that; and
(5) He never claimed to be an Evertonian (unlike Mr “Once a blue… ", badge-kissing Cover Your Pies).
Don’t blame Lescott, but do blame the likes of the Fat Boy
