What a fucking result!! Watched the game and the lads were superb! City had a spell of about 20 minutes but never gonna gonna break us down.
I am so proud of the lads tonight! Words can't express my sheer joy at beating those horrible MANC TWATS! I detest that club and everything it stands for and I am grinning like a Cheshire cat tonight! I only wish it was by a bigger margin.
Wish Moyes would have jawed that Italian quilt though!

Great result ! Europe is now a realistic target and would be a deserved outcome this season. Our form since January has been top class with more than a little proper football being played along the way. I'll be at Wolves on Saturday and hope to see a similar result !

First season i have not gone to that stadium. Watched it in pub, fantastic team, support and tactics.
I wrote on here about the 4 6 0 a bit ago and for a while in the second half there it was again.

Absolutely fantastic result! Moyes should have nutted that wanker mancini. Spanked them in their own back yard, dirty rotten cunts!
A tremendous result... I missed most of the game, and only caught the last 20 mins but we did our job well and secured a fantastic victory... Winning at home and winning away against the big boys is nirvana for me. This is exactly what we should be doing, no more excuses.

Think it's been a big breakthrough this season getting the results against the big boys. Think there was a psychological barrier in previous seasons about beating the big boys, and these results prove that we can do it. We certainly have the players to do so.

Great win and performance, quality second goal. Still a lot to play for this season, but if we can avoid any further big injuries and get the main man from the first half of the season back, (Fellaini), with one or two quality additions, next season could be very very good. COYB.

I have to admit I was very worried about this fixture so to keep a clean sheet and score 2 really well worked goals, im over the moon. Everyone in the team had good games and I do honestly believe we have every chance of getting a european place for next season. The hardest game on paper is the Villa game but I thought that about tonights game so fingers crossed. Just imagine the season we might have had if Jags and Arteta had been fit from the start. COYB..................
We need to still take the old "one game at a time" route though. I am massively excited but let's make sure our injured (Tim Howard, etc) are ok and let's gear up for Wolves at the weekend. We're playing well and starting to see results go our way elsewhere...let's just keep playing as well as we can and see where we end up. Could be reeeeeaaal interesting. COYB!!!!
I just hope Howard is fine. OUR games aginst two scrapping teams in Wolves and West Ham are where we dont want a silly goal, that a non match fit keeper may let in. Lets keep things in perspective. We will probably end up with 63-65 points. Spurs only need 11 from a possible 21 to top that. Villa have 24 for grabs and need 15 to beat that, City are 5 ahead of us with a game in hand and the RS have mostly home games and only Chelski likely to take points of them so I am thinking we will finish 8th.

When this premier league bubble bursts, which it will, you'll have an equal playing field, we're already making great progress. When posters have come on TW talking about next season, I've been reminding them ther's still a lot of points to play for this season, and as for 4th, Spurs play the sky 3, and man C's got the Manc derby & the Arse at the Emirites. it's conceivable that they won't get a point out of those games, but I think there's everything to play for. The two goals we got tonight though were awesome! The cut to Lescott was absolutely priceless - something our monied friends will never get. Even if my gloomy (thought it was realistic) prediction come to fruition, it won't be enough for them (as 8th shouldn't be for us), but I hope that their in-fighting money grabbing toss pots implode.
For the record,I reckon the FSW will have the door held open to him 1st of May after defeat at Chelsea.

Hes as hard as nails, without being a liability, hes good in the air and tackle, passes well and leads by example. All this for just under £6m quid. Surely he would cost at least double that now?

@Keith - Agree on first goal, especially when you carefully watch the timing of the follow up on the back post (Distin?) ... seems to me that Arteta and Cahill work on this stuff a lot .. they've missed each other and it's starting to come back ...

Finishing 4th is do-able but it is going to be very tight. Last time we came 4th and qualified for the CL, we finished with 61 pts. After last night a maximum points haul from the last 7 games would put us on 69 points. If we win 5 and draw 2 that would give us 65 pts. It might just be enough given that those around us will drop points also. C'mon you Blues !!!

Can't see us getting anywhere near 4th but after pretty much thinking Europe was out of the pitchure after the Brum result, I am starting to hope against all hope that we do sneak into 6th or to cap off a good second half of the season to reclaim our 5th place from last year. That would be a good season but also a sorely frustrating one due to the dodgy start.
Even as a Moyes "non-apologist" it would be churlish in the extreme to say anything other than great performance, great result. However, I think some of the reaction is way over the top. We lack consistency and I wonder if the same Everton will turn up at Wolves.
If David Moyes does a proper job this summer and starts next season with confident, positive football, then maybe I'll be an "apologist" too.
After the first game of the season getting spanked at home 6-1, we could have easily thought how long and painful the season would be and most of us did because results shortly after that were not impressive. Some of us couldn't wait till January when the transfer window opened and hoped also that Jags and Mikel would be back but they were delayed.
However, Donovan and Saha helped keep the ship afloat with some great displays and apart from some mediocre games against Brum, Redshite and Spurs, we have bounced back and it should not be unnoticed that the return of Jags and Mikel has boosted the whole team.
I often posted that we needed more goals from the midfield this season. Look what Peanuts and Mikel have produced of late? Just what the doctor ordered. Key man though is Heitinga — what a great buy. Hope it all carries over to Molineaux on Saturday.

What a performance last night, a great TEAM effort, something the opposition have no clue about. Can't see us finishing higher than 6th, but catching the Shite is a distinct possibility.

I'd love to hear from those of you who were calling for Moyes' head before Christmas saying that he had taken us as far as he could and we needed new blood. What planet were you on? Moyes is a top class man manager and when the team are all fit they work their socks off for him and each other. Our spirit was evidently leagues ahead of of Man City's yesterday canceling out any individual class from the likes of Tevez.
Why on earth would we want to sack Moyes and risk losing that spirit and potentially cause a mass exodus of players and the the hell would come in? Glenn Hoddle? Larry, we also got beat at Spurs 2-1 where Donovan missed the sitter. We have lost 2 out of the last 17 games, according to the commentator last night. Not too bad for a team that is lacking consistency. We are a point behind ManUre in regards to the results this year, I think....again according to the commentator on Football First.
It's funny how at the start of the season when people were saying that we have to wait for our players to get back before we start playing were getting abuse; however the results this year clearly show they were right but I doubt you will get anyone agreeing to that, especially the ones saying that injuries were not an issue.....doh!

Tony, I'm not too sure about the Man Utd stats, but ours are clearly top notch since the New Year.
From what I could see, we've picked up 26 out of a possible 36 points since the turn of the year. That's as good as any top team could expect when you look at the fixtures we had in Feb. Lets hope it continues until mid May, and then set off in the same way next season. I think it is realistic to expect s to battle for a Champ League spot next season, but feel its too much to ask this time round.

Jim Dale, I can't recall anyone on this site calling for Moyes to be sacked before Christmas. I think the above comments are totally over the top. I think a bit of perspective is needed.
We threw away a two-goal lead at Birmingham, we were utterly shite in Lisbon and it was down to the tactics of the coach. The comments on this thread suggest that many Evertonians have pretty low expectations.

Duncan and Jim, its one extreme to another, personally my gripe is and always has been lack of consistency, all the more galling when you see the team play as they did last night. We have also seen shite performances like Lisbon. Neither side can deny the other's argument as both have been seen. If we had consistency we could have well been in the top four.
Duncan, I may moan like fuck but I've never gone "all quiet". You may think my views are shit but I've expressed them often enough on this site.
