I don't know whether this post deserves a thread of its own or whether I should have just tagged it onto one of the other threads about last night's game. I'll let the editors decide!
I just wanted to make this point though.
I can't get enough of the second goal last night! (and the first was a training ground beaut itself!) I keep going back to it to watch it again. It is one of the most perfectly constructed goals I have ever seen, certainly better than anything I have seen from anybody this season.
There may be better 'individual' efforts some can point to such as great shots or headers but for pure team-construction this goal takes the plaudits for me.
From the inch-perfect ball down the line, the faultless collection by Jack, his pace and strength which left the defender floundering and the flick inside that sent the defender the wrong way... the ball pulled back across the area and Cahill's dummy and then Mikey's pass into the goal!
If Arsenal had scored it, the video would have been on sale by now and we would never have heard the last of it until the middle of next season!
Does anybody else see it as I do or am I just going over the top?
I'm just going back for another look!

It was a quality goal but not the best I've ever seen! It would be pretty standard for Arsenal/Barcelona who, lets be fair, score goals like that on a pretty regular basis.

Tell you what, we`ve scored some really cracking goals this season, Pienaar at the Emirates, Arteta slotting home Piennars back heel against Hull, Vics stunner at St Andrews.
Goal of the season ? I think its probably between our second goal last night and The Kings thunderbolt at Bolton.

Everton have scored some great team goals this season. At times its almost like watched Arsenal.

Not too sure about standard for Arsenal though. If it had been Arsenal Cahill wouldn't have dummied it he'd have passed it back into midfield and they'd have gone round again.
That was why it was a great goal for me. None of the over-egging that you often get from Arsenal. It was minimal yet perfectly executed, not one ounce of luck involved and everybody knew exactly what they were doing.

At around 2 am I yelled a giant " OHHHHHH" and woke my 11 month old son, much to the shagrin of my lovely wife.
Thank God the kid fell immediately back to sleep. :0)

Now I know this is TW - but I do believe it was Leon Osman who started the whole thing off 'From the inch-perfect ball down the line'.
Phil the Jag is on the OS today saying that Jack should be playing further forward. A cynic might think that he is saying'keep away from my position lad', but we know - or should do - that he's right. And his logic is good. Just because the big boy with skill and vision was the obvious choice for CH in his school/youth team, doesn't mean that this is his best position.
I've already said that the sheiks might now offer £90m for him. I would only accept the full cost of redeveloping GP.

This could be a first season under Moyes where we are on course to finish with 60+ goals in the league. Different players chipping in with goals from all over the pitch. With playing one lone striker for most of the season imagine how many we could get if perhaps next season we play two out and out strikers?!

Josh - this isn't a puff for EvertonTV, but it has been good for me this year as I've been moving around a lot. £40 p a. Check out things like no Mac users, country you're in etc, but you get our goals and 20 minute highlights for every game, for this season and a few back.
Saw a few of the warm up games when I was in Spain. The radio Merseyside match commentary comes too.
As I said, check out as best you can if its right for you, but it's part of my Everton life now.

bit OTT . One of my favourite bits of the season was on Sat when Neville did a step over and blasted the ball wide into the gladys st. I know that sounds odd but was just funny as hell.

Sorry don't want to make this into a thread for our best ever goals but check out Osman's against Larissa a couple of years back. Struggle to get better than that anywhere on the planet.

Mikel's last night was against, well, call them what you will, a set of very expensive mercenaries perhaps. But Steven's very similar goal against Bolton was against a team built on defence. And we tore them apart.
But that was what happened against Larissa - we tore them apart. Which is what makes it very special. Well remembered mate.

I think we went about fives seasons in the 90's without scoring a goal as good as that - or many of the ones mentioned above. Slowly but surely we are becoming a better and better team to watch, with quality throughout the pitch capable of producing moments like that.
Micky's scoring record since coming back from injury has been very encouraging, and young Mr Rodwell seems to be adding a real attacking threat to his already long list of attributes. Things are really looking up, and long may it continue (which I believe means keeping the current squad in-tact at all cost).

As Jonathan mentions above, Osmans v larissa was stunning, probably the best ive seen.

It may be my addled, aged brain but I recall that three of our four goals against Sunderland back in those title-winning days got 1-2-3 in MOTD's goal of the month. That'll teach 'em to score first...
How many of you noticed that it was Moyes who yelled at Osman, pointed to Rodwell, and told him to pass the ball to Rodwell. So, it was Moyes who actually started the move :-)
Has everyone forgotten Pienaar's goal against Arsenal? That was my favorite goal this season. Gosling's goal against Man U wasn't necessarily the best but it was arguably the most important. Those are the two that come to mind for me.
Gosling placed that! Hated how it was described as deflected in!
You're right Gosling does deserve more credit for that goal. I think it was memorable for its importance and timeliness rather than skill though. Not to take anything away from Gosling.
Steven Pienaar's against Arsenal at the Emirates this year. I'll never get tired of watching that goal. Sky would have never shut up about it if a Sky 4 player had had the balls to do that at 1-1.
We must all be wrong. Sky Sports News doesn't mention Arteta's goals in "Goals Of The Week"! So. Maybe it wasn't that good.....

I think Pienaar's goal against villa last year away is one of the best team goals I've seen Everton score.

Thanks for the reminders of some other great goals.
I suppose the added dimension to this one was the fact that it put the game against a club which has managed to become the most obnoxious in the Premier League in the bag!
For that result even a Given goal-kick that bounced back into the net of the referees arse would have been a cracker wouldn't it?

I really liked Pienaar's opening goal against Sporting Lisbon. The pass to feet from Neville (yes, you read that right), the little back heel from Cahill and the brilliant stabbed shot under pressure as he fell from Pienaar - brilliant. Shame about the complete collapse later on in a game we should never have conceded in.
I immediately thought of that goal when I saw the Arteta goal on Wednesday night as Cahill finds himself in a similar position and shows his awareness and deft touch, this time with the dummy.

There's something in it... if you recall Arteta fluffed a similar chance from a ball in from the left against Man Utd.
Or maybe it's just a team with the ability to hold posession, break teams down, and a quality midfielder who arrives as the second man in the box time and time again.
I've had a bit of a love affair with Pienaar over the last year but I think I'd forgotten just how good Arteta is. Absolute class and a joy to watch.

Jack Rodwells goal v UTD this season by far one of the best by an Everton player.

agree with Ray above, and Sky bloody Sports News. Christ if it doesn't involve Drogba, Torres or Ronaldo it doesn't happen does it ?Oh except for including some hank wellying it into an empty net from the half way line....real school of science stuff.
I was raving to the blokes at work yesterday about Mikels goal - as has been said, you can watch it all the way through from Osman holding (Barry?) off to Arteta's finish and it's inch perfect. I particularly loved Cahill's little "whoopsidaisy" dummy and spent half of the morning reinacting it much to my mate's boredom. Brilliant.
My favourite goal just for sheer quality has to be Osmans v Larissa but for absolute joy who can really look past Goslings Cup Winner v LFC?

I said at the time it's have to get past Pienaars v Arsenal first and now there's another one to boot. Brilliant stuff - long may it continue - and with players of the quality of Mikel, Pienaar, Rodwell and Johnny pulling the strings there's no reason to see why not.

Then Sunderland scored first and we were 1-0 down. What followed was total power and skill and as you say MOTD had 3 as A B C and won.
Same season i was lucky enough to go to Hillsborough where i think we won 1-0 (lager assisted) and i recall Bracey chasing them all over the pitch and a save by Big Nev that graced the start of MOTD for a few years after.
Happy days, but i honestly believe that this squad can at least test what the earlier one did. Hope you all agree

I agree with Keith Glazzard, I was a bit dubious of EvertonTV at first, thought it might be stop start streaming of pictures and £40 wasted, but hey! runs smooth as a nut, decent pictures and 20 mins is better than last on MOTD now that I have dumped SKY

From the moment the ball gets to Rodwell on the sideline, it is a serious of brilliant vignettes. He does a great step-over thing to get away from his Kompany first off, before that superb side-flick in the area to give him space behind. Then picking out Cahill... only for him to dummy it to the perfectly placed Arteta...!!! Magestic.
But we are lowly placed Everton, playing above our station. We can't score goals like that; we don't have the players or the resources or the money or.. blah de-fucking-blah.
Thanks to Rodwell, Cahill and Arteta, I sincerely hope I have heard the last of that particular string of bollocks on here. [I know I haven't but I live in hope!]
