On the Moyes/Mancini spat

Great quote from Jim White in a Daily Telegraph blog.

While Mancini flapped and blinked, Moyes kept his icy blue gaze unwaveringly focused on the City manager's chin, a slight smile playing on his lips as he considered momentarily whether it would be worth the lengthy touchline ban that would ensue from administering a warning slap.

The whole piece is pretty good, actually. At least someone is seeing it for the storm in a teacup it really is.

Honestly, quite how so much can be made of so little by the media amazes me.

Totally agree with you Lyndon, 75% of the the Daily Mail 'match' report was devoted to it, mind you they probably think Manchini's an illegal alien

Funny article. Martin O'Neill didn't come out of it smelling of roses.

Good to see Mancini charged and Moyes acquitted. Fair decision for once.

Was it Rodwell who made the long clearance out of our box when Santa Cruz was forcing a threat? Whoever, it went straight to Moyes, standing in his technical area. I suspect this to be a Finch Farm move.

We knew that the media would have a field day with this, but despite giving some of them a chance to ignore our progress again, we have come out winners in this.

By far the most important opinion in the game is that of the match referee. All the PL refs will have seen a video of what happened. They will all know that Davey was totally innocent, and that under severe provocation kept his cool and dignity - albeit with a glaring hint of menace (hard but fair). And that's how these people will gradually come to see him and his team.

I don't want refs to be biased in our favour. All I ask is that they don't chalk off goals because they don't think we deserve to win.

Available to all who just might not have seen it, but highly recommended for the Arabic commentator. Very good at his job and knows our players better than some of them over here do. Plus considerably more enthusiasm. Perhaps he didn't realise that the new favourites were supposed to win and was only saying what he saw.

One last thought - watching it through a few times, I put the watch on it. Eight seconds from leaving Ossie to the back of the net. Pace? As they say, the fastest thing on a football pitch is the ball.

This is the laugh of the season,along with the fact that their CEO couldn't handle it either.

How anyone could attempt to eyeball David Moyes is beyond me. His eyes are nearing coming out of his head in one of the pictures. Fearsome. He looks like he's either going to bite Mancini's chin or give him a Glaswegian kiss.
