Living in Los Angeles I don't catch too many reserve or youth matches. I was mostly wondering what's happened with this kid since his arrest in connection with drug dealing.
He was supposed to be better than Jack Rodwell a year back and yet all I seem to remember of him is his miss on opening day last season. Any info on his current form would be appreciated.

Both Jose Baxter and James Wallace seem to have gone backwards this year as compared to Jack Rodwell.
A year ago, I would have taken Baxter to push on this year and get some first team games but for some reason it hasn't happened. He seems to be always in disciplinary troubles on and off the pitch.

Mike that's kind of what I figured. And Brett I live right outside downtown and am a lone toffee. I do however work with some Liverpool fans... all of which are my bosses. It's a cruel world.
The alleged drug dealing and money laundering charges were both dropped a few months ago. The Echo made a big deal of the initial arrest but not a word on his subsequent release without charge.
That said, looking at the two he got arrested with, I would suggest he is a bit more careful with who he hangs out with!!!

Maybe he should be less concerned with who he hangs with and more concerned with who he plays with. He hasn't had any impact this season...
He is young but is showing some very disconcerting signs! There is a laundry list of talented players who end up unfulfilling their potential and in trouble.

Baxter was once tipped to be as good as Wayne Rooney but unfortunately his career seems to be stalling.
A couple of years ago, he was starting in the Premier League but now he rarely gets off the bench.
He may have been tipped to be the next Wayne Rooney but at the moment he's looking like the next John Paul Kissock.
Let's hope he can turn it around and follow Jack Rodwell's example next season.

By the sounds of it he's been massively over-hyped anyway, and his potential simply isn't what is being suggested in some comparisons. Rodwell has far more ability, Baxter at best could be another Osman, no more and would need to be the most dedicated, professional and level headed young man imaginable to make it at Goodison, it ain't gonna happen. I suggest you don't worry too much about him.

Don't forget Baxter made his Premier League debut nearly 2 years ago. He was only 16 and I think he broke records for Everton's youngest ever player.
Osman had to wait until he was 22 to break into Everton's first team.
Baxter has also represented England at every youth level. It's only a matter time before he breaks into the U21 side. I don't think Osman played for England at any level did he? He certainly never played for the U21.
Baxter is 18 now. When Osman was 18, he had nowhere near the acheivements that Baxter so far has.
In truth, Baxter's development has more in common with Rooney and Rodwell. It's only because Baxter's career appears to be stalling that he's being compared to Osman.

I saw Baxter play for England when he was 16 and he was shite. I've seen glimpses of him since then and he was shite.

LA Blues — I remember there was two mad blues who played for Hollywood Utd before they got 'famous'. I have a mate there who played for them (Spurs fan). I think they (HU) still play but now it sounds like a bit of a Brit 'celeb' thing. I saw them play a few league games and it was taken very seriously. The only celeb then was Steve Jones (ex-Sex Pistol).

Osman was very highly rated when Baxter's age. He was the most impressive player in the team that won the Youth Cup. His technique was outstanding, he scored some crackers and was obviously going to make it.
Unfortunately, In that very Youth Cup final he suffered a terrible injury. If my memory serves me right it was a damaged cruciate, but I may be wrong. At his age, during that stage of his development, also taking into consideration that this injury took much longer to recover from 10 years ago, is the reason that when he was 18/19 he wasn't being talked about much.
Osman has been a fantastic servant for us, and yes he is a bit weak at times, and he doesn't posses the pace to make it as a winger. He is an excellent central creative/ attacking midfielder. His first touch is better than anyone apart from Arteta and Fellaini, has great technique, good for a goal and assist and works his socks off.
If Baxter gets to Osman's level I would be very surprised. Apart from rave reviews, I have not seen anything from this lad, at both reserve or first team level to suggest he's gonna be a Premier League football player, never mind a star.
Wallace was the one youth player who I thought looked impressive, but he has unfortunately been injured for a long period of time this season. I'm an LA Blue too! I've met a few over the last 20 years here but have lost contact with them.
Another LA Blue. (Lakewood actually). There are one or two of us knocking around this neck of the woods.
I saw him play for England in the U17 Euros last year. England got tonked 4-1 by Germany. I thought he was one of England's better players, along with a RB called Hurst (think he's Pompey). He played better than Wilshere and Bostock on that day. All of England's attacking play went through him.
But that was just one game. In his defence, he's only a little lad, his physique could be one thing delaying his introduction to the first team.

However, it seems that Jose Baxter is suspended after a red card in the Liverpool Senior Cup game at Skelmersdale earlier this month.
