The magic touch?

Yet again we've been struck down by a lot of injuries this season. I have noticed though that the players seem to be coming back into action much earlier than the original time frames given after the initial diagnosis. I'm just wondering whether this has anything to do with our new head physio and Mick Rathbone given the boot? Does seem rather coincidental...

Maybe when they've got an injury that'll keep them out for four weeks, the club deliberately says six.

Then we're all made up when they come back 'early'!

(That's what I'd do if I was a manager - provide a boost out of nothing...)

Exactly what I was thinking Eugene ? maybe we've got a "smart" physio who knows how to play the game.

Not really sure of the benefit of saying a 6-week layoff if it's more likely to be 4 weeks. Players coming back from injury puts pressure on those currently in the team to play well in order to keep their place... Is it a good thing for Heitinga to think that Rodwell is weeks off a return or should he know that he's breathing down his neck and will be back imminently? Not really sure what good it does to mislead the fans either to be honest!

I guess I was just thinking perhaps that Baz Rathbone's methods were perhaps outdated and they simply wanted a better physio (particularly after our unbelievable amount of injuries last season). It just seemed to me there were quite a few players coming back a week or two earlier than expected.

Whatever the reason is, it makes for a nice change. All too often when reading an injury update, it has been to tell us that the player has reinjured himself or needed another operation.

Think Baz did his best and wouldn't have liked to be in his shoes last year. Football is a contact sport so you can't stop random injuries on the pitch. But during last season I found myself wondering if our players were going out there 100%. We picked up a heap of bad injuries, were our players carrying too many knocks or strains when taking the field? Are our fitness guys up to standard?

We haven't had many injuries this season ? certainly compared to last season.

Not sure it is right to jump to the conclusion and blame any of the past problems on Baz. There are plently of other potential explanations.
