Why we just can't compete financially

How much did EFC get for their new "record" shirt sponsorship again?!
Well, Barcelona have just done a deal with the Qatar Foundation (are these the boys who are rumoured to be looking at buying Everton??) for shirt sponsorship that runs until 2016 for a whopping ?165M. That's over ?30M per season.
When I look at articles saying that we should have an academy like Barcelona's or we should be able to compete with the so-called big boys, this sort of news comes to mind. Just look at this as an example of the money Barcelona have to invest in youth, amongst other things.
We're not doing badly for paupers!!! Granted, the season hasn't gone as we all would have hoped but in general, we really are punching way above our weight. It's not just guff from Kenwright, as a lot of you seem to think (and I'm not a BK fan BTW).
Just a thought!

A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step but our marketing and development of a club is in reverse.
It's the resources vs resourceful argument again. This will run and run.
We will never know if they're as good, as some of us think they are, with this manager.
Until he tries to play attacking football, we wont find out!
Gueye, Bily, Baxter, etc will never be risked, if you can call it that, while others are fit, even when they're not playing well.
He definitely has his favourites.
If that's the way football is going I'll keep my povo Toffees thanks.

FC Everton of Walton anyone?
I would have a fairly safe bet in saying that we have got at least five players whom most clubs would be envious of: Baines, Jagielka, Fellaini, Rodwell, Cahill, Pienaar and yes even Howard, who while not spectacular is reliable and that's what counts in a keeper. Oh, that's seven... pardon my maths!
The reason we're not competing is inept management from top to bottom ? and YES, I include Moyes in that for his tactical ineptitude and lack of vision.
Of course for our failures financially I 100% blame Kenwright and Earlstone, forget trying to find "Investors" and please find a "Buyer" who I'm sure would let you stay on the board as an honourary director and mouthpiece. He will be less embarrassing reading off a script (BK is a trained luvvie after all) and there are one or two half decent managers out of work at the moment, such as Jol and O'Niell.
But I do think that the Chang deal probably is the best out there... or would you prefer Carslberg, probably the worst sponsors in the world!
But the one question I have always wanted answering is where oh where has all the money gone?
Barca are shit compared to Everton.
I'm a lifelong blue (44 yrs) and find that statement laughable! Also the Arab boys were never ever remotely interested in us.
I think we'll win tomorrow, derail Man City next week and hopefully pick up a good few points against Birmingham, West Ham and Stoke over Christmas and New Year.
We played well at Chelsea overall and, but for that moment of madness by Neville, could have won. I want to see Moyes go for it tomorrow and Gueye to get at least 30 minutes minimum.
Perish the thought ? it's bad enough having Greenwright.
I've got me blue glasses on today mate, they're all shit compared to Everton.
Money has nothing to do with it. We do not expect Champions League but we expect the coach to get the best from the squad. He doesn't.
The only consistent performer this half of the season has been Baines, the rest have all had crappy games for the majority.
Now I don't care if we had Mourinho managing us, if the players are not playing well, we will not win; yes, it's up to Moyes to get them out of their funk... but it's not that easy ? just look at Anchelotti, managing the Champions but cannot get them going in the last month and a half. Then again, apparently this managerial lark is a piece of piss to the FM-heads on here.
It don't matter who you pick or what formation if they don't perform or in some cases can't even be arsed trying, then you're in the shite. We don't have the luxury of dropping them as we don't have a ready made replacement up to the task of stepping in and making the position his own...
I just wish they'd all try try.

We are NOT punching way above our weight. This squad should be doing far better than they are. Forget about Barcelona, look at the 11 players who could go out on Saturday and could play Wigan off the park...
Will they? That's anybody's guess... but there surely is no doubt that this team is capable of it.
We are NOT punching way above our weight. That is a media bullshit ? we are under-performing, and we have been throughout this dreadful start to the season (with perhaps one exception ? the derby).
