Return of Vaughan & Yakubu?
Comments (13)
Over the last 10 games there has been only 2 goals from the strikers at Everton. Beckford got one against Wolves and I think Saha got one somewhere before getting injured.
Amazingly the team has enjoyed good form over those last 10 games largely due to other players (Osman, Baines) chipping in with goals.Moyes has been unable to do anything about the striker problem with only Beckford and Anichebe available.
But, with the Championship season now done and dusted, both Yakubu and James Vaughan find their loan spells at Leicester and Crystal Palace over. So they should now be available for Everton again... right?
Don't get me wrong; I am not championing either player. Yakubu has no heart for Everton and Vaughan has struggled for goals in the Championship. I firmly believe that both players should be sold in the summer.
But in the last two games of the season against West Brom and Chelsea, should David Moyes use Yakubu and Vaughan? Beckford and Anichebe are struggling. And it's nice to have four strikers available again... even if only for a couple of games.

In my opinion Yakubu is well past his best and lacks the passion to play anymore.
Vaughan went to Palace to prove himself but has struggled for goals and only proved he's not good enough for the top level.
So I don't want either of them back permanently.
I was just thinking to freshen things up in the final two games of the season it's an idea to at least involve Yakubu and Vaughan?
And it seems Moyes has indeed been trying to find someone to take Vaughan off his hands for two whole seasons! Obviously without much success...
They have earned it by default... the fault being that we have no forwards.
Moyes pre-game (with apologies to Tony Cheek... btw where were you v City???):
"Go out there and make a name for yourselves lads, these are shite, you can murder them, they're just Championship yo-yo's. Play well and I might give you a start against Chelsea."
It will make barely any difference either way, but if Beckford or Anichebe are staying long term, its better for their development and position within the team, no matter how marginally, for them to play.
I like the shout about Vellios and Gueye, and maybe stick Hope or someone on the bench for the last game with nothing to gain and nothing to lose.
Vaughan on as Sub?
Methinks he could play for Everton... but he won't.
