I put this down to a number of factors.
- The Boards inability and unwillingness to strengthen the squad.
- The managers stubborness and refusal to offer any committment to the club, fans and players.
- 3. The Boards intransigence to lay down some future plans to improve our finances or sell up and let someone more capable and committed take over the running of the club.
I have always maintained that professionals know what they are doing and that we should always back the manager, coaching staff and the players because they, after all, have the qualifications and experience at this level whereas we – speaking generally as supporters – have no coaching badges and at best some of us have played pro or semi-pro but not at Premier League level.
Moyes has 3 League Managers Association Manager of the Year awards and is lauded by his peers continuously. Everton, we are constantly told, are punching "above their weight". So what do we know?
Well, I can only say that after, watching EFC for over 55 years and playing at a decent level, I feel, as many others should, reasonably qualified to offer an opinion.
On the manager, I feel he was like a breath of fresh air when he arrived and that he brought innovation, class and dignity to a club that had long since fallen from grace having started the Premier League era level-pegging with the likes of Manchester United and considered one of the "big five".
However, I feel that he has been let down badly by a totally incompetent and unprincipled Board of Directors at Everton and has been "sulking" in one way or another for the last 2 years when I think he should have walked away instead.
I remember talking to some of the players back in the day when Peter Johnson and Cliff Finch were around and they commented that nobody was ever around and there was generally an atmosphere of disinterest. If there is one thing Moyes has engendered during his spell here, it is to stay on top of everything in the absence of "Blue Bill" and his chums, who only turn up for match days.
In my opinion, the manager has already "gone"... so who should we bring in? That is where I am at a loose end because not one of the names being put forward fills me with any enthusiasm.
For me, Martinez, who (it is being rumoured) has already been approached, has no appeal whatsoever except that his teams play football and consistently have the excitement of fighting relegation. Could we attract or even afford an Ancellotti, Hiddinck or Pellegrini? Do we want or need an Allardyce, Hughton or Hughes?
One of the most frequently used statements on this site is "Be careful what you wish for" but I think this perfectly sums up our predicament. If we cant get rid of Bill Kenwright and his cronies, who would have the strength of character to deal with them and build a successful squad? Who would command the respect of the players and possibly retain Fellaini and/or Baines?
Some common names are being bandied about: Nigel Adkins, Brian McDermot, Paul Lambert... The names ring hollow with me but, as I started by saying, "What do we know?"

Off the back of losing those three, I fully expect to see the likes of Jagielka and Mirallas to look elsewhere.
A new manager will want funds to change the team an improve it. Unfortunately any new manager will initially receive funds but only through the loss of our best players. However we look at it this is a massive step backwards.
My opinion has remained the same for a few years - forget about Moyes or his replacement because every managers hands will be tied due to on going lack of funds. The board HAS to sell for the club to progress any further. This is neither anti or pro Moyes and neither anti or pro board - pure statement of fact. Without a good level of investment the club will always flounder.
In my opinion Moyes has done an outstanding job with limited funds even if he has made some garish mistakes and take a sometimes questionable approach. A new manager may perform equally as well however will ultimately have a similar glass ceiling due to lack of funds.

I would love to see Martinez, but feel he's too smart and loyal to come to us. He played in a hundred-plus games for both Wigan and Swansea, whereas he has no connection with us whatsoever.
Laudrup would be great, but why would he come here after the season he's just had with the Swans? It's said that at training there he's still the best on the ball! This is in training sessions with De Guzman, Michu etc. He'd be disturbed by the lack of technical quality in our squad.
Adkins would be great, unfailingly positive, a great motivator and used to dealing with a shithouse of an owner. He's also got a physios degree – like Martinez – so there's clearly some intelligence there as well.
McDermott has got the Royals playing some good stuff going forward, but don't know if he can fix a defence as porous as ours. His philosophy seems to be they'll score three, we'll score four. Doomed to failure here if so.
Lambert is a Scottish goon, forget it.

Expect a mediocre appointment at best and one that will work to the BK blueprint. Hang on .... We've got one of those already.
5 Posted 24/02/2013 at 21:55:40
That team costs a lot of money. For me, Martinez with that budget would give us a better style of football. I do not think for one minute we'd be playing relegation football, Wigan do because they only spend thirty seven million. I think he'd lift the place.

Factors 1 and 3 are right on. Ownership doesn't give a shit about winning things, you don't win. In the EPL era, Green and them landing Moyes was a fluke. No way an ownership group, treating ownership as a financial opportunity and nothing else, deserved him. Lucked into him, more like.
Hoping the "usual suspects" aren't hired; most especially Martinez. A hustler if God ever put one on earth. Since our ownership had enough insight to hire minor-leaguer Moyes those years ago, they won't be foolish enough to hire this me-first, wage-bandit Martinez.
Ideally, American Bruce Arena would be approached. Believe me, you all would love him and he'd come. Since that won't happen, I'm for Solskjaer. Got a lousy team to winning and knows the EPL. He's paid his dues well. Get him in.
But really, it should be Arena. It won't. Too bad.
Or Sheedy. He's been doing well and knows the kids coming.

Whatever network here in the States carried this last Euros, Martinez was hired as an "expert". He was so camera-ready, so polished (he was), I was immediately put off by him, completely suspicious. In another life, Martinez would be a pimp.
Some other club not Everton, sign him up!

We need players who can be brought in cheaply, say the 2-5 mill bracket, and can do a job. Looking at our midfield of Neville, Osman, Naismith and Pienaar, we are not asking for miracles here. Even Drenthe coked off his head and full of Vodka could shoot better than all 4 of these "great pro's"
We need someone who has global contacts, Moyes and his team are all too cosy, and there is no-one asking any questions, look at the value Newcastle have had in the last 2 years.
My choice is Solskjaer, he is building a great reputation in Norway, and could identify a few decent buys from the Scandinavian Leagues. He is 39, and itching to prove himself over here. He has already had offers from Villa and a few others I believe.
I think Moyes has left even his most ardent supporters a little bit disillusioned of late, bearing in mind that he is patently waiting to to see if any better offers lands before he will commit himself either way.

12 Posted 24/02/2013 at 22:40:56
You rate Chris Hughton. Why?
13 Posted 24/02/2013 at 22:43:20
Never come over all Billy big balls despite his really very good achievemnts - I just reckon he's one of these fellas the more you put on him the stronger he is - just a feeling really.
14 Posted 24/02/2013 at 22:46:25
Fine choice. If he's the one, should bring Josh Gatt with him.
15 Posted 24/02/2013 at 22:49:57
16 Posted 24/02/2013 at 22:51:06
When you say that Hughton has "excelled", what do you mean? What has he ever done? For example, before yesterday's gifts Norwich had scored one goal in six games; they may well still be relegated.
How would he improve Everton?
17 Posted 24/02/2013 at 22:54:16
Bilic would be good too, and I believe he would know how to get the best out of Jelavic.

Truth is Carl even if Mourinho turned up none of us could be specific, my view and it appears now a growing number agree is Moyes time has run.
One doesn't want to be harsh because for the first few years Moyes was ok but he is messing us around and really should be arrested - but that's just me.
James Flynn you're very wicked.

25 Posted 24/02/2013 at 23:21:24
So you don't know why you rate Hughton, "if Mourinho turned up none of us could be specific", and Moyes should be arrested.
Nice one.
26 Posted 24/02/2013 at 23:17:04
Overall, I am a Moyes supporter and think he has generally done great things for the club. However, I think he has started to lose the plot and much as it pains me, it may be time to move on. It really does worry me about who his potential replacement would be. Gus Poyet would be my pick but what do I know.

You seem to have taken great exception to his professionalism as a pundit; eye of the beholder stuff I guess as he comes across as passionate and positive in his after match interviews (which constitutes the sum total of my exposure to his televisual offerings) whereas DM just seems earnest but rather dull to me whenever he guests as a studio pundit.
Who should replace DM if he goes? I have no clear idea - would be happy to try Martinez, Steve Clarke or even Paul Lambert - but think we need something a bit beyond staid and careful if there is another level that can be reached under the current Board. Whether that comes direct from the manager or is supplied by his coaching staff I don't think matters too much, as long as all the elements required in a football team are adequately represented.
32 Posted 25/02/2013 at 00:00:23
Look at how bad the Goodison pitch has been lately and imagine the state it would be in if the RS had played all their games on it as well.
There are potential solutions but they remain hypothetical until someone tries them and so it is not simply a case of a ground-share being the obvious answer.

34 Posted 24/02/2013 at 23:35:23
Anyway , for the third time of asking, does anyone KNOW what contract Moyes is supposed to be signing??
35 Posted 25/02/2013 at 00:19:42
The only thing I've read personally about David Moyes supposed contract is an article on the Bleacher Report where the columnist says that DM was offered a one-year rolling contract, it doesn't specify how he knows, it also doesn't say if this was just a temporary contract to tide us over or if that is the only deal in town.
Ian who do we go for then? another mercenary manager from the usual suspects, IMHO we need someone who understands the mentality of the Goodison faithful, it has to be somebody that has represented the club on the pitch. We can't afford the best available so we need to adjust to who we can afford. I would in the past have said Stuart McCall but he is hardly pulling up trees in Scotland.
36 Posted 25/02/2013 at 00:22:12
We ain't a rich club, we all know that, but fans like yourself say this team Moyes built is the best we have had for over 25 years. Why then do we play like a Graham Taylor or Howard Wilkinson side from the 1980s?
You all miss the fucking point so much, it's both painful and hilarious. The vast majority of Evertonians I know want to see football played in a manner we can be proud of in traditions we are supposed to be proud of. A trophy would be brilliant but a winning attitude must come first. Moyes is a terminal loser and that's a fact. Moyes can't win fuck all because he struggles with his own inability on a daily basis.
Why slag off Martinez when you know fuck all about the guy? Martinez laid the foundations for what Swansea did today.at Wembley. What foundations is Moyes laying at this club after 11 years? No youth policy, no scouting of cheap talent, no clue about man management, and – most of all – no clue about how much Everton fans crave decent football... By the way, Jay, all Liverpool fans want Moyes to stay – what does that tell you?
All-in-all, too many fans like yourself have been brainwashed into thinking this is the best we can hope for. Moyes is as good as we can ever get. What fucking bollocks! Swansea have just blown all those theories out of the water. Great football, great players, and a fantastic manager I would die for. Laudrup has probably won as many trophies as SAF but who at our club would have the vision to appoint him over Moyes.... Certainly not fans like you!
37 Posted 25/02/2013 at 00:21:54
"If we win the FA Cup or get 4th, I will stay; if not, I'm off." — Do you think I can say something along those line to my employer? Yeah right? There's the door... fuck off, you arrogant prick.
38 Posted 25/02/2013 at 00:55:59
39 Posted 25/02/2013 at 01:03:10
The reason why I choose him is because of what he has achieved with Wigan, he suits us perfectly. We have little or no money save the 62 million, he can use that in any way he fancies, I reckon he'd produce a much better football style then Moyes, given the same resources. And I'm fed up of Moyes.
40 Posted 25/02/2013 at 01:08:57
@Ian Smitham; sorry mate, and I'm not being funny here so correct me if I'm wrong, but I get the impression you didn't really rate Sheedy as a player, suggesting he went missing a lot? Now I'm only 18 so never got chance to see Kev play, however I've spoke to my old man about this on numerous occasions and he rekons (along side Trevor Steven and Wayne Rooney) Sheedy was the most talented player he's ever seen in a blue shirt. All about opinions though.
In terms of who I'd have replace Moyes? Well personally I don't think he'll leave. Cushy job at a big club, lauded with praise from everyone on the media, one of the highest paid managerial jobs in the league, no pressure what so ever? Why would he ever want to go elsewhere.
But if he does, I'd have Malky Mackay. One of my best mates plays for Cardiff City (after being released by Man City) and he rekons Mackay is one of the most talented coaches around. Bear in mind my mate has worked with Mancini (albeit briefly) and Pulis whilst on trial at Stoke post being released from City, as well as numerous other youth coaches in his time. Mackay has revitalised Cardiff, turning them from Dave Jones' nearly men into run away Championship leaders. He doesn't take no shit either...
Well worth a shout for my mind.
41 Posted 25/02/2013 at 01:43:20
42 Posted 25/02/2013 at 02:00:05
good shout on Mackay IMO but I think he's Scottish too which would make it three Scots in a row (too much to take).
43 Posted 25/02/2013 at 02:56:58
I believe he should make the call. There is absolutely no reason why he cannot / hasn't already. The smokescreen about seeing how well the team do till the end of the season is crap. Pure and simple.
I suspect he wants more, which Kenwright would / should be unwilling to provide, I suspect he has asked for a cast iron commitment for backing, which I suspect also he has not got.
The team is ageing and needs rebuilding, Osman, Hibbert, Neville, Distin and Jagielka are well past their sell by date. Of the others, Naismith, Big Vic, aren't up to the EPL and then we will see Fellini and Baines probably be sold.
That doesn't leave much except the kids so a major rebuild is required, to many in the current squad this was a last hurrah, at least it should have been a couple of seasons ago,
The team has not been refreshed when it was needed, we have got a few players in but not the major overhaul needed. Frankly I don't think Moyes has the stomach for a fight for resources and a rebuild that will take 3 or 4 seasons. He knows this and that is why I think he has already said enough is enough.
Which brings me to the board. I have long been a vocal critic of this board, their intentions and the opinion that they have placed self interest above that of the team. People point to how successful Moyes has been in building a team with the support of the board. But one has to say that the input of the board has been minimal at least and the fact is that years of poor management by this and previous boards laid the foundation for where we are today.
What is staggering is that there is no plan. No vision, no strategy to get out of the mess we are in financially. All they appear to want is to have a rich investor on their terms. The club is without direction or leadership for the future. If I am wrong then someone show me the plan.
It was a matter of time before Moyes felt that it was no use. No point. He has now resorted to protecting players, looking for excuses and defending his position. All the tactics of someone who is severely aggrieved with his lot. Its telling that he has never done this before.
So where to now St Peter?
Moyes goes, new manager, old school or newbie? but not one with a great track record.
Team is broken up, half the players sold off and players retired. Finances put to offset some debt. New players brought in and a season of consolidation follows.
The board? same old same old. The chances of any them actually selling their shares to an investor is remote, the chances of the all doing it is near as dammit impossible. Unless of course someone breaks ranks and gets a good offer for the shares... Personally I hope that happens.
Moyes did well, did not inspire, consolidated and built a real team, that always seemed to fall short. Tactically conservative bordering on negativity. He was a man for a time, and we needed him badly then.
Times change, so do people, Moyes needs to go for his own sake as well as the team, the reason is not because he isn't good enough, but because he is too good for the board who have failed to meet his (and our) expectations.
44 Posted 25/02/2013 at 03:39:22
I don't agree with the train of thought that he is in some way out of order for not signing or agreeing to sign a new contract. Nor should he be expected to walk away early. He is well within his rights to see out his contract. He is a professional and I believe will continue to work hard for the rest of his stint.... Then leave.
46 Posted 25/02/2013 at 03:39:21
I just want a gaffer who makes me feel excited about my beloved blues, puts a smile on my face, a spring in my step, a bounce, a cheery lift, rather than someone who always looks like a doctor telling someone they have the Big C or a Portsmouth fan. He was not always like this.
47 Posted 25/02/2013 at 05:47:49
All I want is somebody who can take the limited resource he's going to have at EFC and do the best with it anybody can expect.
48 Posted 25/02/2013 at 06:01:41
That for me is the difference between a 'successful' manager like Mancini and a 'safety first' plodder like Dour Davey – with the SAME player. It does not matter where Moyes goes next or how much money he will have to spend he will always play boring pathetic 'track back' and 'not to lose' – it's what HE is.
All those doom and gloom merchants who predict disaster if their failed Moyessiah leaves make no allowance for the possibility that a 'POSITIVE' upbeat new manager could do far better with the players available than Disasterous Davey has.

However, we will most likely have a shortlist consisting of McLeish, McCarthy, Megson, Allardyce and McClaren!
54 Posted 25/02/2013 at 09:06:49
1) Old School British style: Moyes was probably the best att his when he first came to the club, he has since in my opinion witht he ever increasing quality of his players tried to refine his style but I think its still his modus operandi when we have injuries or are in bad form. Traits include and emphasis on defense, a love of a big target man, and being hard to beat. Allardyce, Hughton, Hughes, Dowie, Warnock - they are all of this ilk, personally I can't see any manager of this type moving us on at all, we probably have the best of the lot as manager already and he's struggling to break through the glass ceiling.
2) New wave British style: The type like Rodgers, Lambert, Adkins - apparently they are all following some sort of exotic football formula from the continent that involves buying loads of young players. Personally I haven't seen anyone do it well and I don't think Adkins would offer us anything.
3) Continental manager: I'll admit its a bit if a genealisation to put every single foreign manager into one ctaegory, but we all know the type that I'm talking about. Emphasis on ball retention, limited use of the long ball, most likely to adapt a 4-3-3 and be a disciple in some way of Mourinho/Guardiola/Madrid/Barcelona. In the long term this may well work for Everton and could ineed be the best option. I don't think hwoever that any of this type of manager could take a backline including Jagielka and Neville and implement a formula that owuld work. it may look pretty but I just don't think they'd have it good enough to get top 4 next year.
4) Best of British: Ferguson, Redknapp. 4-4-2 with flying wingers (obviously the first name is an impossiblilty). Seem to be a dying breed but I really think that as a short term solution Redknapp may not be a bad option. Twice finished in the top 4 with his spurs team playing better football than they are now, reinvented Gareth Bale, made Modric world class. I think he oculd take our squad and do something with it next year in an exciting manner. He's a name big enough to satisfy our top players and also one big enough to not feel inferior to the bosses at liverpool Arsenal and Tottenham (which is partly the problem with Martinez). How long he'd stick around for I don't know but unless we unearth some gem from the continent I can't see that many options that would defintiely do better than Moyes would next year.
55 Posted 25/02/2013 at 09:46:36
I don't think for one minute 'Arry would entertain us though, do you? Being a wheeler-dealer involves splashing loads of dosh (not a characteristic of Everton Football Club!) and, besides, does he know where anywhere is North of the M25?
56 Posted 25/02/2013 at 09:52:01
For lack of a better offer,I think we`re stuck with Moyes for at least another 12 months but if he goes I`d opt for Mackay,Adkins,Martinez or Solskjaer, all of whom could manage well on a shoestring (I think!).
But we`ll probably get Curbishley who took a load of shite from the Charlton board but stuck it out for 13 years. That should appeal to Uncle Bill!

58 Posted 25/02/2013 at 10:45:33
Has your season ticket renewal come through? i'll have to get round to me mums to see if mines there. If its Jags giving the "thank you for your support and we need you again next season" speach, then I think thats a sign that Moyes wont be here next season. Do I wait and see or pay for it now on the strength of that?
59 Posted 25/02/2013 at 10:37:58
Moyes is, exactly as Christine Foster said, a manager who is conservative in tactics to the point of negativity. The names that are being thrown around are generally admirable, Laudrup especially, but how many would come to Goodison? Kendall walked out on City, Lee on Newcastle, but their managers wouldn't come here now. I'm not sure Hughton or Laudrup would see Everton as their next stop.
For over a decade I've been screaming about Kenwright and most Toffeeweb readers agree that he is a self-serving actor playing at being a fan and running a club. With the current board, the long term prognosis is, I'm afraid, terminal.
60 Posted 25/02/2013 at 10:39:56
All supposition I know, but what if we sell Fellaini for say £25m, get a good chunk of the £30m new TV money, and can go out and build a good squad. We can bring in young hungry players, who can play a completely new brand of football.
We can look forward to a midfield who can shoot better than a 10 year old mascot in the kick-in, we will see the back of Neville and his floaters down the line, we won't have manager shouting "inside Ossie, inside" like a Sunday League maniac. Spend wisely, and we may see a squad of 20 players who all give us options, and a proper goalie. We may go into a Derby game without thinking they are Barca, and we are lucky to be there.
I think I will actually be pissed off if we don't change the whole set-up now.
61 Posted 25/02/2013 at 11:01:32
Give it another half season or season of Moyes and the opportunity is gone as it stands we're on the cusp of rebuilding and handled right there could be a few bob to make an instant impact.
We simply can't afford another 10 yrs of someone like Moyes figuring out we need pace and how to play football we need someone positive who inspires forwards not destroys them.
62 Posted 25/02/2013 at 10:55:10
I am pro-Moyes. BUT when we go on the defensive to teams like Oldham or Norwich with 10 minutes to go I lose faith. When I see Jelavic chasing long balls into the corner with nobody in the middle to take a cross (exactly the way Andy Johnson was ruined, minus the Wenger sniping) I lose faith. When I see us with slow ponderous build up play with high hopeful balls into the box, rather than attacking fast, moving the ball quickly on the ground and played in front of Jela, I lose faith.
Yet I still hope Moyes re-signs, and I wonder if this is because I am scared of the alternatives. Adkins? Allardyce? Lambert? Nope I would take Moyesy any day.
The bottom line remains that all blame leads to the Boardroom. The Chairman and the Board are the problem; their lack of vison, their refusal to let go, their apparent unwillingness to set a reasonable price. Their inability to invest or "find investment" and their strategy of selling assets to survive.
When I hear pundits on the TV or radio say that they would love to see how Moyes goes on at a club with real money, I cringe: how about asking how he would go on at Everton with real money, with real owners and a real Board with real ambition and the finance and vision to back that ambition up?
63 Posted 25/02/2013 at 11:42:53
Great governance that, I thought, they don`t even apply the basic principles of good business. What chance have we got?

Realistically if we were to receive £25 mill for Fellaini, how much do you reckon Moyes, or whoever, would get to spend? I personally reckon he would get possibly £10 mill – at best.
If you look at the present squad, £10 mill wouldn't make a dent in what we need to move on.
It would not surprise me to see both Fellaini and Baines go this summer. Either Moyes or the new guy will need a shed load to bring in both quality and numbers.
If the manager was given £20 mill from the sales of the above two, I still don't think it would be enough to appreciably improve the team dramatically. The past years of neglect by the Board is finding us out big style.

Just thinking about Martinez turning down the devil's spawn, makes me think, did he shit himself because the job was too big for him? If so, do we want that type of manager with us?

Pity it has to be a young lad to question these matters. Just makes me wonder what O'Keeffe and Prentice must be thinking today being shown up by a youngster.
Only negative in his article is that he didn't mention the main culprits – the Board.

Newcastle seem to be getting good value the last few years, I don't even know who actually does our overseas scouting?
Look at the players Laudrup has brought in from Spain - he knew what value there was in the Spanish market because he had managed over there.
Don't under-estimate the value of a good foreign coach, we know how much the likes of Lescott went for, because City couldn't be arsed looking, they wanted ready made proven P.L. players, well we can't operate in these markets.
It makes me shudder when people mention the likes of Adkins though, or Mark Hughes. We need to take a chance on our next manager, not repeat the same mistakes of hiring the Likes of Hughes or Allardyce. We need a visionary, the next big thing. And someone who won't play Neville.

Have the board started the wheels of change in motion?

BK would want someone like Moyes who can keep the club ticking over they way he has done on a limited budget even if success in the form of trophies or Champions league doesn't come. After all it is a business from BK's point of view and survival is the first priority.
Sadly from the fans point of view it has gone on too long and this season which promised a lot has seemingly fizzled out, much to our annoyance. We all want change and perhaps it will now happen but maybe at a cost if we are to believe all the rumours.
Moyes has nothing new to offer and oozes negativity. After the collapse at Carrow Road he should wield the axe but he won't as he will say he doesn't have the squad. Bullshit! He doesn't have the guts to leave out his faves
We have to match Oldham for willingness and intensity from the start and that means playing eager and hungrier players. Give Vellios, Barkey and Oviedo the start. They cannot be any more lacklustre than what we have been seeing. The cup is a way to Europa I know but it wouldn't be a disaster not to win it.
There has to be change, so why not now? I can remember Harry Catterick dropping big names before one particular game many years ago but it had the desired effect that season.
79 Posted 25/02/2013 at 14:02:21
As far as Moyes's package is concerned, I suspect he has to make the famous 40 points mark before being assured of the much publicised goldmine. After all, even Blue Bill ain`t daft enough to ask for nothing in return... Is he?
80 Posted 25/02/2013 at 14:55:42
There's a point here. I'm sometimes surprised by some on here who seem to assume that Martinez or Laudrup or him or him would simply jump ship to come to us. We are not the only ones who know about Billy Bullshit and the lies and lies and lies. We are not the only ones who see that the Old Lady needs a new coat of paint or bulldozing. And we are not the only ones with deep knowledge of the state of our finances.
If, indeed, Martinez knocked back the Shite then why would he come to us? Long done are the days when we could cherry pick new gaffers. We have to sell ourselves to the up-and-coming whizz kid who might be able to turn us round and make us what we all want Everton to be, and my guess is that we have become a tough sell.

"Hello Walter, it's Bill, I need your advice again..."
..."Jenny darling, you'd better double up on the eggs my love, Sam Alladyce is coming round for a chat"
83 Posted 25/02/2013 at 19:02:57
Our play is so limited and weak at times its embarrasing to watch, oh lets use the left wing until we get sussed then when that fails we will rewind things some 15yrs and lump it up to a big man who is marked tightly!! yawn yawn yawn.
Oh and then lets slag off jelavic about not scoring!! when it is Moyes who has now made him become a wide left player who is also chasing round everywere and defending, Im pretty sure that when a club signs a player its based on how they've performed at their previous club??? so why the fuck do we seem to take that talent and freedom away from these players and turn them into headless chickens chasing everywere and as a loan striker/winger!!!
Andy Johnson, James Beattie, Yakubu!!! all these strikers were destroyed by this moyesiah!! ha ha ha GET HIM OUT!!! we need fire in our bellies and new ideas preferably positive ones!!!
84 Posted 25/02/2013 at 19:29:21
This is because Felli And Jela do not compliment each others game. IMO Should be Felli and Kev, or Naisy and Jela, with Felli back next to Gibbo Where both shone last seaso
85 Posted 25/02/2013 at 19:19:07
Maybe, just maybe he has some class and therefore his decision was based on morals!! If so then maybe, just maybe he would like to join an honest club who have no pact with the devil and can hold their heads high. Just a thought.
Oh, and we are better off than Wigan, bigger crowds and better players, higher wages, so he would have plenty of wriggle room to make us that top 4 side that Moyes just cant manage again. Maybe, playing exciting football as well. (I can at least have that dream, eh?).
86 Posted 25/02/2013 at 20:27:21
As most people have said it was Martinez not Rodgers who started the Swansea revolution well it was Rijkaard not Guardiola who put in the building blocks at Barcelona, he is a free agent so would appeal to the board and has expressed a desire to work in England it might be a trifle ambitious but it is worth a shout.
87 Posted 25/02/2013 at 17:59:14
What I would say he IS obliged to do, is give a bit more when asked. Lately he has met every single question asked by a reporter with anger and arrogance. It is disrespectful and out of line. He's paid 4m per year, essentially by us, and those reporters he keeps dismissing when all they're trying to do is get paid too are our last link to the club we love - because we all know what sort of tripe the club rolls out when we contact them about something.
If I were a reporter and got treated the way Moyes has treated some of them lately, I'd be giving British tabloid a new sense of the term "baseless, utter lies".
88 Posted 25/02/2013 at 22:45:59
How can Moyes promise anything, when he isn't given promises from the board? First one to blink maybe?
89 Posted 25/02/2013 at 22:58:47
90 Posted 25/02/2013 at 23:06:33
Also, Moyes has been here for 11 years and in all that time, when interviewed, he has praised BK and the board to the hilt — only a few weeks ago he was on the radio praising BK and thanking the board for always backing him.
91 Posted 25/02/2013 at 23:19:19
92 Posted 26/02/2013 at 01:44:57
I have no "exception to his professionalism as a pundit; eye of the beholder stuff". I love those observations from the pros. Except he provided none other than the usual pap; polished as it was.
"I guess as he comes across as passionate and positive in his after match interviews (which constitutes the sum total of my exposure to his televisual offerings) whereas DM just seems earnest but rather dull to me whenever he guests as a studio pundit"
Really dude, say something nice about the pimp so you can take a shot at Moyes? Whatever.
Whoever comes in next, comes in. Just not Martinez. We have enough problems.
93 Posted 26/02/2013 at 05:41:21
FFS, leave that hideous Americana off our precious scouse boards, not to mention the absolute shite you spout about Martinez.
95 Posted 26/02/2013 at 13:07:12
Saying that, I think Moyes will stay. Just hope he gets some money to spend from the Board who are the real villains in all this in my opinion. We will see for sure the ambitions of them this summer. They have no hiding place, more money from TV, maybe cash from Fellaini – will it go back into team building or to the banks?
The buck stops with them I reckon.
96 Posted 26/02/2013 at 13:57:05
97 Posted 26/02/2013 at 14:48:09
He is unlikely to come out and say that he thinks the Board are shite, now, is he? And as for his salary, what's he going to do? Refuse it? I just don't accept the argument that his high wage buys his silence. The fact is that he has never been supported properly in all the time he has been at the Club. The Everton Board have never invested any money in the team. At a time when football has never been richer, Everton have never been poorer. That's the real scandal.
98 Posted 26/02/2013 at 14:40:42
99 Posted 26/02/2013 at 15:16:59
In the interview, he was asked about transfer funds, and he was pointing out how brilliant BK was because he would always try his utmost to find the cash to back him. He wasn't asked about the rest of the board, but he went out of his way to thank them for always backing him — if he wasn't happy, he didn't have to say that.
100 Posted 26/02/2013 at 15:19:07
But I take your point on board about the wider geo-political picture, Ray. I hope I haven't caused an international incident but we do leave savvy fashion sense/taste behind when we board planes to fly to this side of the Atlantic — and I am most definitely not going to take back the words about the shite spouted about poor old Martinez, he's a great dude.

102 Posted 26/02/2013 at 18:16:44
Moyes is not going to go against his employer in public: that is one sign of his integrity but it's also advisable in view of his future career. Kenwright et al have put not a single penny into the Club - not a penny, not a red cent, nil, nothing, nichts, zip. What measly shekels that they have "found" for Moyes is borrowed, or funded through player sales, or via season-ticket money (seen the latest prices?) They have abdicated their responsibility to the fans and should be run out of town. It is not David Moyes's job to pressure the Board publicly.

It's all well and good looking dignified and having polished shoes but we need silverware, if he doesn't win the cup it will be 11 years that's the deal people have lost sight of it. Swansea join the list of others who have done it - it isn't impossible.
Martinez for me based predominantly on his Swansea rebuild although people slagging off his wigan survival aren't comparing apples with apples. Don't think he'll come though his ability lies in his intelligence he sussed Villa and the RS out quick enough and I reckon 60 secs in Kenwrights company will have him shouting out the window "start the car!".
I rate Chris Hughton.
