I know a lot on here dont like him, but even they must see overall he has done a great job for us, we as a club have gained enormous good PR over the years through our common decency and fairness, unlike our neighbours across the park, so with the worlds media watching on tomorrow, please dont spoil it by booing the man.
Some on here have a dislike for all things Man Utd, which is mainly local media driven, and that is why some have the angst because he, like Rooney, has gone there; let us not reduce ourselves to RS level.
Moyes for me has done a fantastic job for us. Does he have faults? Yes, like all managers have, but most importantly we have got our pride back and he has put us back in the spotlight.
Some on here have questioned his tactics, some are correct but most are not, we are not privy to what goes on behind the scenes (we are not even privy if we are shareholders!!) and sometimes we dont know the overall picture. People have questioned that he ruins strikers but what have Beattie, Johnson, Vaughan, Beckford, Cahill & Yakubu done since they left? Nothing because they were not good enough, Jelavic appears to be another like the above.
To work under the restrictions Moyes had must be infuriating to say the least, a net spend of £16.9M in 11 seasons; net spend can mask certain things (see Wengers) but the fact is Moyes spent £½M less in 11 years than Dalglish did in 18 months — this is pathetic for a club of our size, and this is the main reason for him leaving.
If Moyes was given even a small amount of money this season, we might be in the Champions League next season... think he would have left then? No, he wouldnt as this was his team and achievements.
Moyess best achievement for me is working alongside BK for 11 years knowing he is being shafted by him; eventually it gets too much and you have to do something, so he has left to the biggest club in the country/world, like Wayne did... and likely Fellaini and Baines to follow. Why? Because us Blues fans havent done enough to oust the white elephant at the club BK — as long as he is at Everton, we will continue to be a feeder/also-ran club.
So, summing up, I call on all Blues to raise the roof tomorrow, so the lads can get us a win for Moyes and also finish above Liverpool. (I know some on here dont think that is important; that I find staggering but testimony to Moyes that we now have bigger aims?) Lets show our class tomorrow.

Personally I wouldn't even have him managing the side for the last 2 games. He's going elsewhere, I don't blame him for that as this club doesn't have any ambition under this embarrassment of a board, so I would have stuck him on 'gardening leave' as soon it was confirmed he was going to the Mancs.
And the OP refers to United as the 'biggest club in the world'. I find it annoying when this is said. Before the Premier League years they were regarded as not that much bigger than us.
Real Madrid are the biggest club in the world. For starters their achievements blow MUFC clean away.

Moyes was a BK Cronie and when he gets fucked off at Man Utd, BK will be keeping the bed warm...
Fuck Moyes — he has stabbed us all in the back.
I hate Evertonians behaving like sea-lions so don't expect us all to clap and bark at The Average One.
7 Posted 11/05/2013 at 21:57:27
John, you are part of the problem mate, does it matter what he is paid? are you the clubs accountant? if you get a pay rise at work does it make you the following day a better employee? No, so what he was paid is irrelevant.
Instead of questioning what Moyes was paid and if you think it was too much, why not focus on the clown who paid him that amount? and therein lies the problem, too many focusing on others and missing the white elephant at our club.
Don't expect a manager until after July 1st as BK will not pay for 2 managers unless we appoint from within, the nice cheap option we are famous for.

As for putting "us" in the spotlight ..... complete mis-representation the only thing in the spotlight about EFC is/has been Moyes.
There's enough unthinking followers to ignore his lying contract bullshit and be a gushing "X-Factor" audience clapping on demand.
But whatever happens he's been found out and when the dust settles and people remember they're Evertonians he'll be ripped into if he lasts to bring Man Utd to Goodison.
15 Posted 11/05/2013 at 23:11:08
Or you can make up stuff about him lying and cheating and backstabbing when you haven't got a clue.

Look, I understand how some people feel about Moyes leaving; I get the impression it's been like a death in the family to some... but let's not forget that Moyes QUIT. Now the man is perfectly entitled to do what he wants and he did, he QUIT, he's now the manager of Man Utd and, for that reason alone, he should not be in charge for the last two games.
If anyone feels that way inclined, I'm sure there will be many ways and times to say thank you to Mr Moyes for an eventful 11 years, but please let's not turn Everton's last two games into a wankfest for the new Man Utd manager — thank god one of them games is not against Man Utd; that could have been a great dilemma for some people.
I also find it staggering that you find it staggering that some people don't think it's important coming above Liverpool. I'm sure ALL Evertonians enjoy finishing above Liverpool — local rivalries, bragging rights etc, but I have to tell you that my (and a lot of other people's) aims go far beyond that. And, sorry to burst your bubble, but this has been this way for over a hundred years — well before Moyes arrived on the scene.
So yes, let's raise the roof today, but not for Moyes; let's raise it for Everton Football Club and show the new manager in waiting (whoever that may be) that this has, is and always will be a great football club.

When Big Dunc played his last game for us I didn't stop to cheer round the pitch, I did what Big Dunc normally did and was first down the steps. It had far more class than booing and I had made my point, if only to me.
23 Posted 12/05/2013 at 01:01:37
He hasn't resigned;
He's serving out his contract;
He's still the Everton manager;
He's not the Man Utd manager until 1 July 2013.
Hope this helps.
24 Posted 12/05/2013 at 00:58:41
He didn't QUIT and he isn't the manager of Man Utd. Maybe he should have QUIT but he hasn't.

People consider me to be a Moyes Hater and a Kenwright Critic but I just can't get too wound up about this... It seems quite reasonable to me. Moyes gave notice that he would consider his future... which surely is also unprecedented on the "100% with-us? against-us?" rule... and he kinda lied regarding some of the check-in points along the way. But so what? Yea, he may have known about this in January; he may not... what difference does it really make? I used to say "Moyes is going nowhere" but I haven't (hopefully) said that once this season! We all knew he would one day leave... didn't we?
But he'd always made a point about being an honourable man when it comes to a contractual agreement — and that's currently exactly what he has that binds him to Everton FC Co Ltd through 30 June 2013.
I for one hope he does a good job on his last assignments for us. I can't for the life of me understand this anger toward him and/or Kenwright regarding the situation. It is what it is. After next weekend (but not before) it will effectively be over. The end of an Era.
Yes, the future is unknown and fraught with danger... but the past has become both mind-numbingly boring and maddeningly frustrating. He's gotten really lucky... but I think this is what he was holding out for, what SAF had promised him... perhaps a long time ago, over a nice glass of wine: "Bide yer time, Davie; I'll see yer alrite by me!"
29 Posted 12/05/2013 at 01:59:38
Seems they're more angry with themselves for being wrong. Transferrence I think it's called.
30 Posted 12/05/2013 at 02:02:38
I would quite happily give David Moyes a clap for all his efforts over the last 11 years – no problem. But he should sit in the stands and come onto the pitch at the end of the game.
There is no fucking way that he, as the manager of Manchester United FC, should be on the touchline telling employees of Everton FC what to do.
What is up with the younger element of our support?
31 Posted 12/05/2013 at 02:15:48
He's NOT the manager of Manchester United FC.
He IS the manager of Everton FC
He has a legal contractual obligation to continue in his role as Manager of Everton FC.
That role includes being on the touchline telling employees of Everton FC what to do.
He should be doing it next weekend too... but for the very last time.
[Why are so many smart Evertonians struggling with this?
Transference? Thanks Eric... I guess I'll have to Wiki that one...]
32 Posted 12/05/2013 at 02:22:09
Whose fault is this unique, weird - in - football situation?
In any other "industry" he'd have been given a shoe box of belongings and told to leave the building
Whatever you say, Moyes should no longer have any influence over our club.
Allegedly, as you probably have heard, Moyes did the honourable thing and said he would go forthwith but someone persuaded him to stay – I wonder who and why/
33 Posted 12/05/2013 at 02:27:50
DM has been with us for 11 years. It is inconceivable that we (an honourable club), with a loyal fan base, would put DM on gardening leave. It would have looked pathetic, small minded and disrespectful.
DM is still employed by us and I am entirely confident that he will continue to do a great job until he leaves.
34 Posted 12/05/2013 at 02:45:42
Gary, yes, I agree... but "continue to do a great job" — No. The job he's done has been at best adequate: Premier League survival, top-half finishes — but nothing more. That is the minimum I expected when he took over from Walter. He was (mostly) great at bringing in players who would improve... while mysteriously castrating every striker he laid his hands on.
Two more fantastic draws should do it! I'm so excited...
35 Posted 12/05/2013 at 02:52:13
I realise that you will find this upsetting if you hate DM.....
I'm looking forward to next season when DM won't be mentioned and, instead, the MOB will be getting their teeth into the new incumbent.

What a pathetic statement and sentiment. So you genuinely feel that the same line up who had the breathtaking audacity to level criticism at Moyes will automatcally gang up on the next gaffer,
Utterly pathetic.
39 Posted 12/05/2013 at 03:09:01
But I didn't make allowances for the 'Jock Mafia' and Man Uniteds STUPIDITY.
But do I feel any shame or regret for making those comments - no none whatsoever and I believe that time will prove us right and not you, in that he will be a dismal failure there.
40 Posted 12/05/2013 at 03:16:49
I am an Evertonian who has seen this club win things and play attractive football and if the new manager gets Everton playing good football — not timid, bottling. defensive dross — then he will have my full support.
You can still feel good after a defeat if you can see that your team tried but far too often under the Dour Jock that never happened.
One of the best games I ever saw was a 0-0 draw at home to Ipswich a long time ago when Ipswich were playing really well. The football was spectacular for both teams and I left Goodison feeling good, as did most of the crowd.
41 Posted 12/05/2013 at 03:02:52
He'll spend more time at Old Trafford (at least in his head) than at Goodison Park... and as soon as the Chelsea game is over he'll be off like a shot. That's unless we demand he stays till 30 June getting us ready for next season. People, it's time to accept he's gone, it's all over between Everton and Moyes.
This brings me to the bollox spouted by the likes of Eric in #901, transference my arse! Spin the coin around and we seem to be shooting the messenger, that message is that Mr Moyes has QUIT Everton Football Club, if we are not careful we'll be blaming a few contributors to ToffeeWeb for the reason Moyes left Everton, they'll be the same ones that get the blame for Everton not playing at Kirkby I suppose.
Now let me end with informing you that I was a big fan of Moyes and, yes, I would shake his hand and say Thank You but I still firmly believe he should have resigned on the spot and should not be in charge for the last two games. The king is dead, long live the king. Time to move on, folks.
42 Posted 12/05/2013 at 03:31:52
Sorry mate but you're wrong. I work in another industry, mostly on contract as do most of my co-workers and mates.
Both employer and employee know the term (duration) of the contract and expect it to be honoured and when the term finishes both parties are free to go their own way.
Whenever I've informed the company I'll be leaving, or they tell me it won't be renewed when it expires it's perfectly normal and both parties expect work to be done until the last day.
What you're talking about is if someone is sacked.
43 Posted 12/05/2013 at 03:26:06
So it's not the fact that he is going that rankles; it's the deceitful nature of his going and the feeble and increasingly bizarre excuses he offered, and which of course his faithful followers on TW swallowed hook, line and sinker. If he had just said there would be no contract discussion until the end of the season, without any of the pathetic excuses, it would not have been so bad... although even that is disrespectful to Everton and its supporters. After all, why aren't Everton entitled to the same period of grace to look for a new manger as Manchester United?
44 Posted 12/05/2013 at 03:43:13
Moyes did not quit?
Yes he did.
He accepted a job offer elsewhere and informed hos boss he was quittiong.
Am I wrong?
45 Posted 12/05/2013 at 03:22:31
And beware being used by the MU and media circus who need to reinforce the story that Moyes is an honorable man who wasn't "taped-up" years ago by Fergie. There is no credibility for me in a story that is telling us "Fergie wakes up last Monday, decides to retire, MUFC think oh gosh who shall we appoint, then within 2 days it's David Moyes, who is an honorable man and just happens to be out of contract at end of season which is great because Moyes wouldn't break a contract and MUFC wouldn't poach another team's manager". Ridiculous.
As an aside on the MUFC media circus. I am feeling ever more worried about the media expectation that the "biggest club in the world" should get things just because they are "the biggest club in the world". The Premier League will eventually ruin itself and turn into a WWF style show, if competition is stifled. The rich clubs and the media do have a vested and increasing interest in stifling competition while the League and the FA seem powerless to enforce it.

I can see you will be stalking him though and boring us with more inane obsessive posts about the man.
47 Posted 12/05/2013 at 03:46:24
He didn't tell his boss he's quitting, he's told him that he will compete his contract.
48 Posted 12/05/2013 at 03:48:58
I was in a similar position myself last October when my contract was up with my previous employer who is a major Engineering Contractor worldwide.
I had secured a corporate position with their main competitor who is ranked above them as #1.
According to you they would have told me to fuck off when I told them 2 months beforehand that I was leaving when my contract expired. What they actually did was beg me to stay and offered pay rises and incentives as well.
I left anyway, and still received a bonus from them.
49 Posted 12/05/2013 at 03:56:05
Can you provide us a link to the details of the excellent contract Moyes was offered? I missed the details of that.
50 Posted 12/05/2013 at 04:03:00
But the situation is what it is. He will manage us for the last two games. So my hope is that we win two games, give him a classy warm round of applause at Goodison and not a single boo, but I don't want the roof raised. It's the wrong message. The majority of these players will be with us next year and they deserve our applause far more. If the cameras catch just one fan with tears in their eyes (includes you Bill!) I'll be pissed off.
51 Posted 12/05/2013 at 03:56:06
Eric Myles # 931 Key employees in important positions are normally escorted out as soon as their leaving is confirmed. Contractual pay obligations are normally kept until the Contracts due cessation date or the agreed Contract notice period whichever is the sooner once they knew that you were definitely leaving regardless of their efforts to keep you. That is how Companies protect their intellectual property rights and prevent or minimise leakage of information to a competitor. All I can say is you are obviously not as important an employee as you think you, or if you are important then your previous Company was not as diligent in normal HR policies as it should have been .
Eric Myles # 930 Wrong again Eric, do you work at this or does it come naturally, he did not say 'I will work out my contract and leave' if he had done so there would have been no problem. But instead he strung Everton, and, naive gullible fools like you and others, along by making a series of ever more pathetic and bizarre excuses why he could not discuss his contract 'just now' . But never once did he say 'I will work out my contract and leave' so more fool YOU.
52 Posted 12/05/2013 at 04:18:57
You really should get ou into the real world instead of the fantasy you live in.
Yeah, like we won't get "I told you so" posts from you if United don't win the league next year. Sorry but judging your mentality from the obsessive nature of the posts that you have made so far I'd say that's highly unlikely.

Eric Myles #944 So you confirm what I say then you are NOT a very important employee at all.
61 Posted 12/05/2013 at 04:48:59
Until 30 June he is an employee of Everton and has told the Club he will complete his contract and not renew it.
So he HAS NOT quit.
If he had quit he would have left before the end of his contract.
Why do you find that so hard to comprehend?

Then I'd have liked to have seen Phil Neville step into the breach for the final two games, with it clear that he was just helping out whilst the search for a new manager begins.
What this would do is move the media circus away from EFC for the last two games – nothing to see here.
82 Posted 12/05/2013 at 06:01:37
TWO managers in their last games for their Clubs: Moyes and Benitez.

84 Posted 12/05/2013 at 08:26:33
In some cases they will be shown the door. In others not, they will be allowed to work their notice - even where they are moving to the competition. Not saying it's the norm, but in my experience (at senior level) it happens regularly with the most senior people when they hand in their notice.
The person leaving can really balls things up deliberately if they are pissed off by being told to clear their desk. Important tasks to be finished by that person can end up being bolloxed.
And Very often those reamianing want to give the person a decent send-off.
86 Posted 12/05/2013 at 08:59:44
So far, Michael Kenricks pointers are the most objective.
At the heart of it, most arguments here are based on emotive rather than logical impetus.
I thought that the worst arguments are those which make claims that are indefensible.
To argue that Moyes can't concentrate on leading Everton to victory and instead being pre-occupied with Man Utd is petty. Why would he jeopardize his reputation by not doing well on the remaining games? Why can't he be professional and intend to end with a flourish?
My point being - either argument makes too much of an assumption, depending on your value position.
I believe Moyes can be faulted for many claims made here eg dithering, not adventurous, having favourites, not trusting youths etc.
However, the one thing is almost certain about Moyes is his integrity.
So, to criticize him for his technical shortcomings as a manager is one thing; to accuse him of questionable character is too low a blow.
87 Posted 12/05/2013 at 09:47:32
Which would explain Tim's experiences of being turfed out the door by security.
88 Posted 12/05/2013 at 09:54:54
89 Posted 12/05/2013 at 09:47:42
Moyes should have been given an ultimatum when he delayed discussing a new contract.
He shouldn't be booed, he shouldn't be here!
90 Posted 12/05/2013 at 09:45:27
Even if you don't buy that, wouldn't there be more to gain by installing an interim manager? For example do we ever foresee anyone at the club as a long termer? If we do, this could have been good experience. Fk it, let Duncan do it, what would we have to lose? With Moyes, we don't gain anything.
But regardless, he's still going to be in the dugout so nothing's going to change now. Give him an appropriate send off to reflect his service to Everton and his future role (how that goes is up to the individual).
91 Posted 12/05/2013 at 09:59:38
We are pandering to Utd whims and as a club showing no pride.
I thank David Moyes for what he has done for Everton but he has chosen to move on and so shoud we.
Kenwright needs to remove the plucky little Everton tag and start acting big but better still he should piss off too

94 Posted 12/05/2013 at 11:36:55
Erm ok........can we say he didn't ruin strikers but he did buy shit ones?
95 Posted 12/05/2013 at 11:37:25
...MU have their man and there is nothing that a tiny club like EFC can do about it except stand there and applaud and cheer while we wave off with regret the only good thing we have going for us.
Fuck that! He's disrespected our club. He's engineered his move completely in line with the interests of his future employers and at the expense of us. His achievements have been shat on from a great height by himself, Fergie and Utd.
The talk of businesses and employees serving their notice is ridiculous. It's a football club, it's a constant in our lives, it's an entity that plays with our emotions, lifts us up when things are shitty, disappoints us when we think we had it all, it's a grounding in reality, a dream of success, it makes us embrace total strangers, gives a social identity, it's a source of pride.
That man has been at the club long enough to know what the club means to people and to run away to a local rival to ride the coat tails of someone else's success shows a mercenary quality that has nothing to do with the words class, dignity or loyalty. He should get the reaction he deserves for lying to us for months.
96 Posted 12/05/2013 at 11:56:27
But Moyes has done nothing wrong. He is entitled to serve out his contract, and we have no right to anything he arranges after that point. But, if the board had been protecting Everton properly, he would have had to sign a new contract some time ago.

IF our next manager is a failure and WHEN Moyes gets sacked within two years over there, you can be sure Kenwright will bring him back; they'll keep in contact as Moyes has said before and that gentleman's agreement that many think had happened between Fergie and Moyes would exist between Moyes and Kenwright.
I don't want Kenwright or Moyes to think the fans would be happy with this, if there is a big love-in type of send-of, it would give Kenwright the impression that he is THE MAN everyone would want to see back here when or if that day arrives.
If I want to hear anything at Goodison Park, it would be KENRIGHT OUT! It's long overdue.

Oh but he has seen out his contract I hear you say, no he has not, he is now Man U manager and a piece of paper does not change that.
I can assure you that if he worked in another high profile industry he would be told to clear his desk.
However onwards and upwards lets get the next manager right
99 Posted 12/05/2013 at 12:01:43
It is alleged that Moyes said he'd hand over the reins straight away but Bill broke down and did his Johnny Ray (ask yer grandad) impression of the Cryin Shames "Please Stay"
I will ask around this p.m. and see if anyone has more info
Gary Poole (913) Eric Myles (9240) et al
This gardening leave business is common practice and depends on the employee's status, area of expertise, a firm's mores and all sorts of variables particular to circumstance
In an earlier thread, I offered this actual example; no-one on the thread semed to think it odd
"Our Commmercial Mamager told us he was off to work as MD for a rival company in exactly the same line of work
Lovely fella, good manager
Within 20 mins, all his access to the computer system was removed, his password changed etc
He was quietly reminded that he had signed a confidentialty agreement, handed over the keys to his company car, handed over work-in-progress after briefing us all and went off on "gardening leave"
We had a smashing "do" for him and his family a month later; most staff attended, all very nice"
btw whilst working in Whitehall, where, of course, we are still all bound by the OS act, I've seen a lot of gardening leave applied

"..thank god one of them games is not against Man Utd; that could have been a great dilemma for some people"
Regarding whether Moyes should be in charge of/for our last two games or not (nb: and I am 147% sure he should not) your point begs a couple of questions.
1) Would the announcement of Moyes appointment as manager of Utd have been made when it was, if we'd had to play Utd in the last two games?
2) If the appointment HAD been made when it was, would Moyes be in charge of Everton for THIS game?
The answer for me is no (fucking way) (twice).
Fact; If it didn't suit Utd, it wouldn't happen.
I'm SO fucking sick of our 'nice' tag and with those who seem to derive some pleasure out of having their tummy tickled by the media (Hansen: "Wellitzavantasticclubwithgreatsupport..." etc waffle)
So much so that, although from a footballing perspective, I have no particular desire to see Lennon as manager of Everton, from a none football view, I quite like the idea.
A quick-tempered nark roaming the corridors of Goodison who, rather than indulging BK, might have him up against the wall"
"See yooy - stay ite a may weeeee yoy boolshedder"
Etc.
101 Posted 12/05/2013 at 12:32:53
If Kenwright was so "shocked and disappointed" he would have told Moyes to go there and then.
He didn't because he wasn't shocked or surprised. At least he shouldn't have been. He should have started looking for a replacement just in case when he knew Moyes contract was running down. Arrogance or stupidity? Plan B anyone?
No man is bigger than the club itself, Moyes, for all he has done for this club, should have been shown the door and thanked for his efforts on the way out. By accepting the job at OT during a season he gave up an expectation for a good send off. He became a rival manager the day he said yes,
But hey, this is Everton, this is management by theatre, playing to the audience as ever Kenwright milked the moment and wrung his hands in mock despair.
I am sorry to see Moyes go because the architect of his departure was A board and senior management who refused to back him personally or professionally.
Whilst the management of this club stays in place, history will repeat. Far from the end of the world, this takes the pressure off the board, a new man needs time to bed, time to work out who is who in the zoo, who to believe. That buys the board more time.. God help us.
102 Posted 12/05/2013 at 12:52:30
I'm not sure if you are saying BK should have terminated his contract. And if so, on what grounds.
Moyes' position was that he has a contract until, say, end of June (??) and that he'd said he wasn't seeking to renew that but was going to OT.
If BK had terminated there and then I guess that would be a basis for Moyes to claim compo.
But maybe you're saying honour the contract with Moyes but... But what, though? If you don't let him do the job he's hired to do, is that breach of contract? Not a lawyer, so don't know.
103 Posted 12/05/2013 at 13:01:06
He would only have a claim for compensation if he was sacked without cause. If he was paid out till the end of the contract it would have been the better option. The best would have been not to say anything until the end of the contract or end of the season.
It could be argued he has put the club in an embarrassing position but as I said, he must have been surprised to still be the manager of Everton FC.

Should Hamilton not have driven his last races for McLaren? Would you sack a teacher for changing schools after the holidays? He doesn't care about the kids! He's tapping up children to take them over to St Josephs!
(the rival school to Grange Hill don't you know...)

107 Posted 12/05/2013 at 13:45:22
I think Kenwright is wrong not to have done this, & hope all goes well today otherwise it could be a rather embarrassing send off. Still, 2 matches to go & it'll all be over – 2 victories for us & 2 defeats for Spurs, Europa League here we come!

Firstly I have no idea what 'Marshy' would do, as I don't know him personally.
Secondly, if you want to know then ask him directly rather than addressing you point to me.
Thirdly, how is your post above meant to relate, in any way at all, to my post [shown below] that you're, apparently, replying to?
Fourthly, check your medication.
"It's most unfortunate that Moyes is still in charge, but that's Kenwright's fault. If only it was our Board moving on to MUFC."

If you take the emotion out of this, there's no Everton.
If we all made our decisions using cold, hard, none-emotional logic, the conclusion would likely be something along the lines of "Why would I be interested in 11 highly paid men playing a game in a league they can never win?"
Take the emotion away and there IS no football.
And you can't say 'Yeah but get emotional over this bit but NOT that bit"
Doesn't work.
114 Posted 12/05/2013 at 14:45:09
I don't blame Moyes. I don't like it happening two weeks from the season's end but I don't blame him.
I don't agree with Bill's decision. But it's happened and we have a game to win.

My medication is Chang which I'm currently enjoying while watching the match
116 Posted 12/05/2013 at 16:12:04
Yes, I think he should be applauded But this year I think was a big chance lost to finish in the top 4. When you look at Chelsea's and Arsenal's form this year which has been very inconsistent, I really think had we made 2 decent January signings (a midfielder and striker) and if Moyes had showed a more positive attacking "go out to win" approach, we would be in top 4 now instead of just being outside. We only have to look at all the games we have drew — 15 last I checked.
I really think we needed a change anyway; I'm actually happy he's leaving, we need a young fresh manager... Who can we get? I don't know.

No probs, Eric - keep taking the medication - it may be necessary to deal with a summer of this Board trying to sort out a suitable replacement for Moyes.

The lad done great for us and, mark my words, he will be a very, very hard act to follow!

121 Posted 12/05/2013 at 18:01:49
I'm very pleased we gave him a good send off... At least most of the fans have some level of maturity. However you slice it that is what it comes down to.
122 Posted 12/05/2013 at 18:15:50
In retrospect though, and now that his final home game is over and done with, the value of him being able to sign off his time with us personally, and the opportunity for the fans to say goodbye too clearly feels like the right thing has been done, so I was wrong.
This is becoming a bit of a habit! :)
Till we meet again then David Moyes, a decent man, a good manager, in the end we just didn't quite make it.
COYB!
123 Posted 12/05/2013 at 19:26:56
Moyes has gone and we move on as we are Everton, Moyes will struggle with his emotions as he may have left Everton, but Everton will not leave him, that is the effect this club has on people who come to our club.
Hopefully now Moyes has gone the focus is on who was responsible for him leaving, step forward the real reason we can't compete higher, Bill Kenwright, time to turn the screw on him and get our club back.
124 Posted 13/05/2013 at 20:33:25
Well said; I also got it wrong; mea culpa (more Latin, anti-"dead" language people)
I didn't take account of how contrary, perverse and bloody-minded our support can be
We gave Moyes a real good send-off but reminded him that we remain, still supporting our wonderful football club
He acknowledged this himself, commenting on the raucous support for the CLUB in the second half
He may win a fistful of trophies with moneyed Man Utd but to have won one with skint "plucky little" Everton would have been worth much more
The back-and-to banter with the fans of WHU (also, in my opinion and by experience, a "proper" club) was a delight

He should have left the club last Thursday, and given the back room staff the opportunity to give two games to all the young players he has been so reluctant to play - and forget the comment the the biggest club in the world know better than us - they don't, and will find that out to their cost.
Your contribution is a waste in my view - he's gone - get used to it! We will move on to better things without him, and in spite of him.
