With the strong possibility of both Felliani and Gibson not making the squad for our most improtant game o the season this seems to be gross negligence imo. I am not interested in the 'he's not ready' or 'he might make a mistake' arguments. The fact is we are one more injury away from having no one available to play in the centre of the park on Sunday. It seemed a no brainer to bring the kid back (at least to go on the bench) for the derby. If we were then forced to play him at least we could bring on a player who might be able to hurt the opposition instead of playing another centre half in midfield. I wouldnt have even had a problem with sending him back to Sheffield Wednesday on Monday morning but can no one else see that we need the cover?

If you read all the Wednesday websites they love the kid and they say he looks really classy, even though their results haven't been great. Sounds like Moyesy knows what he's doing, as usual, in giving the lad time to develop and build confidence away from some of the less well-informed and negative contributors to Toffeeweb.

We have Junior. Let the lad stay on loan

No, Pablo, no one else can see it... because Barkley is an attacking midfielder, and therefore he is no cover at all for Fellaini and Gibson. Furthermore, he hasn't played for the first team in a long time, so the idea that he could hurt the RS is pure fantasy.

We have cover in midfield... in case of injury both Hitzelsberger and Francisco Junior are available, along with Heitinga.

Moyes thinks a full 90 with Wednesday this weekend will do Barkley more good than an afternoon on the bench with us. Hard to argue with that. I agree, leave him where he is.

My mates a season ticket holder at Wednesday and didnt understand the hype after Barkleys first few outings, but says he has started to impress in his last few games. Hopefully another month or two will improve fitness, confidence and sharpen him up for our 1st team. Understand the frustration of him not playing for us at a time we are lacking genuine quality in the middle, but if he's only just getting upto championship standard then it would be unfair to thrust him into the pressure cooker of the premiership before he's ready
