Mirallas to undergo hamstring scan

Kevin Mirallas will have a scan in the next couple of days to determine the extent of the hamstring injury that forced him off against Sunderland yesterday.

The 25 year-old forward was arguably the most lively player on the pitch in the opening half hour of the game and the Blues visibly struggled without him as they initially fell behind and then turned the game on its head with a late flourish.

Mirallas strained his hamstring as he fed the ball on to compatriot Marouane Fellaini in the 28th minute and it was immediately apparent that he couldn't continue.

"It looks as if [Kevin] has maybe got a slight hamstring injury," manager David Moyes said after the 2-1 win. "I don't think it's too bad but until it's been scanned we wouldn't be able to say what it was.

"He'll be disappointed he had to come off, as we were. It was a blow because whenever he got the ball he looked a real threat."

Fingers crossed he's not out for more than a week or two. I wonder how often this season we will get to play our strongest XI?

Coleman on the right, Neville to right back and Hitzlesperger in the middle. Easy job!

Fair chat there, Nick. But I do hope Kevin isn't out for more than a fortnight. He's been such an addition.

Oviedo on the left, Pienaar on the right, or vice versa. Dam easy this...

Would be a massive loss. I really hope he only misses the reading match. I'd try Oviedo on the right, and see what happens... I think Neville is too slow for full back now, and I think without Mirallas, there would be no sense in breaking up the Pienaar/Baines partnership, especially as Pienaar's creativity will be more important without Mirallas. I would like to see Hitzlsperger start, but I expect he needs a couple more weeks of training and reserve outings yet, given his significant lack of football over an extended period.
