The Rumour Mill

Everton among clubs chasing Boenisch

02/07/2012 | Comments (8)
Everton, Newcastle and Reading are all reportedly interested in defender Sebastian Boenisch after the Polish international rejected terms to stay at Werder Bremen.

Bild in Germany are suggesting that Everton are in pole position for the left back.

The 25-year-old, who played for host nation Poland at Euro2012 but failed to progress beyond the group stages, is now apparently considering his options after Stuttgart withdrew their interest in him.

A move to the Premier League for the 6' 3" player would be his first beyond the German Bundesliga.

Rumour is that Stuttgart said no because they were so unimpressed by his performances at EURO 2012...

Any left back will be linked with us during this window whilst all the Baines rumours are circuling. Like someone said earlier on another thread, until the player is wearing the said shirt for the said club club consider any rumour just that, A 'rumour'

We're probably more likely to sign Mark Bosnich.

At 1.91m or 6'3", I'm guessing that he's more like a Distin type – not Bainesy.

If he's as good as Distin he'll do me!

I'm just interested in seeing decent players coming to us, rather than leaving us! The players mentioned are at least current and not has-beens. I'm fed up with seeing players like Pienaar and Arteta being allowed to go and has-beens and never-wasses being brought in on freebees.

Pienaar being allowed to leave rather than giving the lad parity with Arteta in wages when he obviously deserved it was one of the biggest blunders this management has ever made. It is worse than allowing Gosling to go for nowt, as ironically soon after Arteta regained full fitness he moved on without replacement therefor making the reason for Pienaar's move to Spurs non-existent!

EFC has blundered from debacle to debacle in the management stakes and STILL say that we are broke despite unloading virtually all our top earners in the past couple of years. Us fans just sit and listen to the drivel that is fed to us despite being consistently in the top 8 and a loyal fan base of over 30,000.

Trevor, I am lead to believe that there was never any possibility of Arteta AND Pienaar getting £70k a week.

It was a choice, one or the other. Moyes chose Arteta, who I think is a better player anyway but who also raised £10m through his sale (because of the contract). Pienaar simply never would have raised that sort of money.

It's not a coincidence that after all the will he, won't he over Fellaini's new contract they got it sorted not long after Arteta left, he filled the gap as the big earner, on money not available until another big earner left.
