Technical hitch stops Cahill move

05/07/2012 | Comments (10)
Tim Cahill is set to stay at Everton despite reports linking him to Chinese Super League club Guizhou Renhe after a technical hitch has prevented the move.

Guizhou Renhe coach Gao Hongbo admits he would dearly love to sign the Australian, but despite Everton bolstering their attack with former Rangers striker Steven Naismith and opening talks with Wigan forward Hugo Radallega, he said any potential deal had fallen through.

"The club actually had negotiations with Tim Cahill, but failed to reach an agreement," he told reporters after Cahill was spotted at Wednesday's Chinese FA Cup clash between Renhe and Guangdong Sunray Cave.

"There were some technical problems, so Mr Cahill visits Guizhou this time. We really hope he could be interested in Guiyang and our club."

Anyone know what "technical problems" means? Myself, I'd like Tim to stay as a sub, but if he's going is "technical problems" a polite way of saying "You want how much fucking money!!!"?

I would like to keep Cahill as a squad player but that's all he is: not good enough to play first team no more!
He's been a fantastic player for us though!

Nail on the head I think James, the Chinese are a very polite nation.

Cahill is past it I'm afraid.

And Moyes will never drop him because of his international status plus the fact he brown-noses on Twitter.

I like him; I think he's a great guy... but playing him every week when Ross Barkely isn't getting a look-in is wrong in my opinion.

Probably whoever is brokering the deal on the Chinese side isn't happy with his cut. Not suggesting any impropriety on Cahill or his agents behalf, but there have been a few problems with Asian football and international transfers for quite a few years.

Doubt they'd be offering a fee for him, and therefore doubt they even spoke to Everton first.

Can't see much truth in this - especially as they can't keep spell Hugo Rodallega name right.....

It's probobly because Everton have quite rightly asked for a transfer fee.

Cahill will leave Everton this summer, in my opinion. He already has offers to go apparently and I'd be shocked if he was still with us come August 31st. His wages aren't an issue. The Chinese are paying massive wages.

Steve (283) polite but not above a bit of morally dubious dealing if it suits them. Not great respecters of inhibiting Western ideas such as intellectual property, patents and trademarks, so imagine they consider things like our contracts with our players as very tiresome as well.
