Rodallega demands too rich for Everton
Privately, the Club were confident that they would win the race to sign the Colombian striker but Everton are not willing to break their pay structure for a player with a less-than-stellar strike rate for a Premier League forward.
Had the wages been right, Rodallega would have been a decent squad signing for David Moyes but he will surely be looking elsewhere rather than make the ex-Wigan man one of his highest-paid players.

I can't bear these tossers. Prem wages are disgracefully sky-high and these bit-players want a piece of the pie, and make outrageous demands (if accurate) based on fucking what? Whimsical, I know, but spend a day in the real world prick. And, remember, you trot around the turf with an occasional burst of near speed for the pie-eaters FFS. A move to us would take you two or three rungs up the ladder. Stupid prick. If these demands are indeed accurate, then let the mediocrity warm the bench at QPR.
No responsibility falls on the club for this one. Nor Moyes in any shape or form. Quite right Moyes, break off any talks. Just another example if ever we needed one of the hyped-up, high-minded, head in the clouds and up asses, dilletante, disloyal, money-minded pricks who, sadly, are becoming more and more the norm these days in the wage-crazy prem.
Last nostalgic thought. Just wish he could have run into 'bite-yer-legs' Norm or pocky face Tommy or 'chopper' Harris. Fluffy fops for the most part these days. Good-bye Rodallega and, quite frank;y, didn't want you in the first place either.

Hoilett instead?

At the end of the day its up to Moyes how he allocates the precious resources he has and he usually does a fairly good job of it. Pienaar and Hoilett would make me very happy indeed but we will see...

I know we are operating a tight ship and I'm the first to flip the lid when we lose out on players but even I'm happy to let Rodallega walk for this money.

The sooner the EPL does a lehman Bros the better it will be for everyone

It has been two months since my last relapse, but I will keep it up and these meetings help me a lot...etc

Yes, Tevez et al on their Sky-high wages have created new benchmarks... but clubs like QPR, who are now more powerful than the mighty EFC, are creating benchmarks for the likes of Rodgaella and Hoilett – and they will pay them £70k a week.
DARK DAYS!

I really hope that no club comes in for him for that price which'll force him to lower his wage demands to a sensible level around 30k max would have been my guess. Even thats 1.5m a year for 3-4 years ffs!
70k a week for a slightly above average player - players and agents really are living on another planet.

Say it slowly to yourselves: s e v e n t y t h o u s a n d p o u n d s p e r w e e k... The Sky money is ruining this game, but it is making a lot of moderately talented young men very rich indeed.
439 Posted 12/07/2012 at 13:30:13
Shaun, your say it slowly is very good also. He will be playing in front of fans who would have to work 5-6 YEARS in some cases to earn what he would make in one WEEK.
441 Posted 12/07/2012 at 13:36:54
Reds pay Andy Carroll £100k a week, and Glen Johnson £139k a week
Rooney played hardball with Utd to get over £200k a week, and they gave in to his demands.
Hibbert's, Cahill's & Yobo's wages must amount to over £110k a week, and they (hopefully) won't even be in the starting 11.

And Rooney? Given what he has meant to ManU's fortunes all these years, he was grossly underpaid. Even now, he's not overpaid. He's like Ronaldo and Messi. Their presence generates so much income for club owners (on and off the pitch), they're worth whatever they get.
The Carrolls and Johnsons of the game? Yikes! I have to ask, you didn't hit a wrong key typing in Johnson's wages did you? He's really on £139k a week? Double Yikes! (Am I undervaluing his worth in yikes?)

In many ways, it is a house of straw, being based on theoretical values (try liquidating all of those assets at once and see their value tumble) and underpinned by huge amounts of debt. Success is important, as a way of tapping into the splurge of money, but not necessarily at any cost.
The saddening part is how far behind we are slipping in the wage stakes if what has been quoted in previous posts is true. Is it worth trying to match them in the chase for success? I would doubt it.
I think a lot of the overseas markets aren't quite as ripe for the picking as we would hope. I would imagine you would need at least 3-4 years at the very top (i.e. 1st or 2nd) to start drawing substantial numbers of fans from the likes of the Mancs, Chelski and the RS. That would require a huge outlay from someone with the will to make a long-term gamble.
Does anyone know whether Citeh or Spurs have made inroads, or are they mainly reliant on the domestic market and their personal benefactors for now?
I do think for free transfers you are going to have to expect some wage inflation, as a transfer fee has been saved and the player will expect to be rewarded for the gamble he has taken in running down his previous contract. Just up to the club to decided whether the figures stack up.
Personally haven't seen enough from Rodallega to think he is worth £70k a week, but you can understand why he might be aiming for it if the likes of Glen Johnson are on virtually double.
486 Posted 12/07/2012 at 16:20:58
£70k a week?!? – we have had a lucky escape.
622 Posted 13/07/2012 at 02:56:12
This is a player who has steadily performed worse every year since he has been at Wigan, and in a steadily improving side. He promises much and delivers little. He will probably have a good Autumn and then normal service will be resumed.
Lucky escape.
