Everton and Fenerbahçe €1m apart

13/07/2012 | Comments (18)
Updated Joseph Yobo has reiterated his frustration at the impasse between Everton and Fenerbahçe over their valuation of the Nigerian defender, though the two clubs appear closer than before in agreeing a price.

Previous reports had suggested that the Turkish side had offered as little as €1m for the 31-year-old but this report in The Punch claims that they have upped their bid to €2.5m.

With the Blues holding out for €3.5m, that means that Fenerbahç are just €1m short of the deal going through.

Yobo is anxious to get his future sorted out now that pre-season training is underway in Turkey.

Fenerbahçe could turn their attentions elsewhere, though, with Turkish-Football.com reporting that they have inquired about Manchester City's Kolo Toure. He, too, is 31 years old but has more Champions League experience than Yobo.

Leaving alone Yobo's whining, this seems like routine negotiations. They want him, he clearly wants to stay there, we own his contract. It'll get worked out.

That's what we thought last year James and yet here we are again.

Don't understand this transfer, nobody else is interested, the club have offered what they are prepared to pay and yet Everton will once again be left with a situation where they will be loaning out a player they clearly do not want. They were prepared to accept a 10 million loss on Yakubu what is the big deal on a million? Sell for the 2.5 and hopefully they then have enough for Peinnar.

Why doesn,t Yobo pay the rest ! If he wants out he can dig into his own deep pockets instead of ours. He has fleeced us enough. Just pay and go Joey !!

Don't understand why we would hold out for €1m. Since 30 June, when his loan officially ended, we have sole liability for his wages, which means that we are now bleeding around £45k a week on someone who will never play for EFC again.... utter waste that we cannot afford. If you work it out, it will take less than 20 weeks of paying his nugatory wages before we lose €1m anyway. Get rid of him and quickly.

I don't get why no one else in teh Premiership is interested in him e.g. even West Ham or QPR?

Yes he makes mistakes but when all is said and done, he's a cracking defender. I think he's done his time with us hence why I wouldn't wanna keep him (hopefully we're moving forward from the level of Yobo) but surely he would add value to even a Reading?

OKay, I'm boased cos it would help drive up the price for us BUT being objective - he's a good player isn't he? good pro, pacy, tall, strong etc

Snore.

Aren't protracted transfer sagas like this usually meant to be about top players like Fabregas to barcelona or Ronaldo to real Madrid?

It is a bit of a snore fest Sam #653 but EFC must decide what's important to them right now. This is heading for the classic last day of the window and we either be forced to keep a whining unhappy defender for a year in the reserves or loan him out for another £1m, thus we "lose" money we cannot afford and the player and new club get him on the cheap. I'd settle for £2.75m and move on. This stubborn stance is not totally unreasonable given Yobo's pathetic childish media whinging and the behaviour of the Turkish club but, only lose lose on the cards here unless we take a breath and compromise.

I can see Yobo being on the books until August 31st and being loaned out to the Turks for a season, this seems logical????

Why can we not just conduct our business without it being played out in the newspapers? I can see the Pienaar saga lasting all summer as well, and Baines leaving at 11:59 on 31 August.

Considering he's probably back with the club from July 1st, which means we're paying his wages at present, we will lose a huge amount of the extra cash we're looking for.

I'm on the fence with this one.

The price we are going to get for him isn't going to be great, although every penny could go in the Pienaar fee.

The flip side is that if we get a couple of injuries/suspensions to either Heitinga, Distin or Jags, we are screwed so we need decent cover.

Unless we bring someone else in or keep Yobo (unlikely) we will be using Hibbert at centre half again at some stage of the season.

I don't think Duffy will ever get a run.

. I'd settle for £2.75m and move on.
----------
£2.75 m equals 3.4 million euros; we're asking for 3.5 million euros. Hardly a big difference, and for all people's moaning, the impasse has led to a higher bid, upped from 2 m to 2.5 m euros.

I'd probably accept 3 m euros now (we probably already got 1 million for two years of loans). Otherwise, open up the bidding to others. Someone would buy him for £2.5m (3 million euros).

3 m euros, plus what Spurs owe us for Pienaar will likely get us the readies required to get Pienaar back. But I'd make him the last 30-year old we buy.

We should call fenerbace's bluff and recall him if they don't want to pay what he's worth. I wonder how agressive our stance is over him and hope we don't capitulate to their cheap valuation.

I don't think we are in any real situation to keep him, we need the money more than we need a mistake ridden defender who doesn't want to be here, 3millions Euros and I'd be happy.

Gareth has got a point.
We were okay to lose 10 million on Yakubu, but on Yobo we fight the fight.

Seems a little backwards to me.
Last summer was a crisis, that is the only way I can understand why we took such a huge loss on Yakubu.
This year we are back to normal, and perhaps that is why we fight them so.
Plus their heel dragging has lasted for two seasons now.
Perhaps Bill is sick of them.

I hope we get our price.

We could probably do with a west Ham or Reading having a punt at £3mil as, has been quite rightly pointed out, he is a good defender, his problem with us was him going to sleep once a game which nearly always was costly, Fenerbache are getting on my tits with this one to be honest, they want him for nothing, defo dont think we should loan him again, not to them at least but £2 million we will probably have to cut and run with that, but far worse players than him exchanging for far more money than that
