So according to our very own Leigthon Baines's "twitter" feed, he's in talks with Man Utd?????
Now I don't know much about Twitter, and I hate social networking sites to be honest. Seems like an excuse not to go out and actually have a life...
Is Twitter one of those sites where anyone can update things, like Wikipedia?
I hope so!!!

Didn't realise he had a twatter account, so I looked at it, and it must be new, as he's got less than 500 followers.
Or of course it just could be a wind up.

With Baines being a very quiet natured, private and media-shy person, as well as the fact that countless sad oxygen thieves create fake accounts of famous people, something tells me this is fake.

Such a fake account — not a single follower includes other Everton players.

I'm sure I used to follow Baines on there, but his account no longer figures on my list. So maybe he deactivated it? Conor McAleny, for example, has 10,400 followers so I would say that the two Baines accounts on there now are fakes. I really have no idea why people do that.

Honestly I can't believe the people of toffeeweb fell for this one. It's obvious it's a fake account as no football players are following him at all never mind Everton players, and do you really think he would discuss his future on twitter? And one final think if it was him why would he be following Arsenal.com more research needed I think.

If this is true, then I hope the fee is minimum £20m. Them bastards ripped us off big time over Shrek: the worlds most promising player, and only 18, less than £25m and they sell Ronaldo for £80m. Baines is an England international and - if the media are to be believed - second only to Cole. I hope he doesn't go and the club have stated that we don't need to sell him, but if he want's to go, then take them criminals for every penny we can

I'm sure he does not have Twitter, and the ones that say to be him are not verified, this is a little blue box with a white tick in it.
When I search on Google none have this tick.
I've also just had my daughter search him on her Twitter account, and there is only the one I find on Google, which has also not posted since September.
I have a strong feeling this is BS!!

If we sell Baines, we should snap up Anna Diamadopoulou - as Twitter says that she's 'Similar to Leighton Baines' @dmdanna

@L3Baines?? It isn't even a certified account. This is completely fictitious.

As some have mentioned, Baines doesn't have an official account and I very much doubt he would post in that way if he did. Amending the story accordingly...

Can we stick a feel-good rumour in the rumour mill to counter this negative fake rumour.
I'd like
Fake Leonel Messi twitter account states: 'Once a blue, always a blue. Everton here I come'

There's a reason why we call it Twatter and put this shit in the Rumour Mill...
I see very few of the Everton players' accounts carry the Blue Tick. Does this mean all those that don't are fake also?
The fact is that we do use 'Twitter' as a source (sauce!?) on occasions, and this acts as a reminder of just how useless the stuff that gets put on there can be.

It is true that Baines is a player that doesn't have an Offical Twitter account and personally I think he may indulge in Social Media but under a guise as he is a more reserved individual than others shall we say?
On the note of him going, I'm saddened to say that I've been told the writing is on the wall for him and has been since last December – which is why we got Gibson at a Bargain Basement price. I will be gutted when (not if) he leaves as he's my favourite player. My only question, is will he go with 1 hour of the transfer window left to go so the Club can wheel out the same old excuse of "We never had chance to give Moyes the money to buy a replacement..." and so the Baines money disappears into the ever increasing Black Hole of Money (also know as the Overdraft Facility!!)

There is an
official list of players and Everton staff on Twitter at evertonfc.com.
Probably also a good opportunity to remind people that nothing we have heard has changed from the Baines speculation being purely media driven. The consistent line from sources remains "no contact so far".

Rumours are always rife on Twitter, I could go on twitter and say Stevie G is in talks with us and some clown would believe me. Went on Friday and someone had spotted Michael Owen driving into Finch Farm. #BullShit

Michael & Lyndon, I reluctantly accept that as you have a column called rumour mill you are duty bound to put on any old shite that has Everton somewhere in the story-even if it's an anagram. But FFS a Baines rumour from a hoax twitter account?
What's next the Old geezer who props up the bar at the Dog & Duck, has announced that Fellani's crossing the park to join the RS; source (or should that be sauce) a dream after 6 pints of John Smiths.
When does rumour stop and fabricated nonsense start?

David, to be fair, Michael didn't know it was a hoax account otherwise he wouldn't have posted it.
We've left the Rumour Mill item (with an amended title) and the above thread open so that we could acknowledge the mistake for those people coming in via links now cached on news aggregators, Twitter, etc.
Even so, the usual caveat emptor for this section applies: it's almost all always nonsense so approach it accordingly.

Does Fergie think that Baines will be thrilled to sit on the subs bench in the hope Evra will improve his game because of Baines being at United? Baines is an international player who surely won't want to play second fiddle to anyone.
As for the valuation of £10M, is old vinegar nose having a laugh? At Liverpool they have Glen Johnson who was valued at £17.5M and he's not half as good as Baines. Moyes needs to keep hold of Baines now that Pienaar is returning, they play real well together and Pienaar knows he's a much better player having Baines playing alongside him.

This is one of those rumours I just don't understand, It's not like united are crying out for a left back, Evra still has another 2 years left in him and I doubt baines will be willing to go and sit at united and watch Evra start in his place. Plus by the time Evra does come to retire or at least leave the united starting 11 baines will be around 30 and united will be looking to replace him, all seems abit stupid and pointless unless united are willing to drop/ get rid of Evra now.

On a visit to the Nou Camp you can pay to have a photo with your arm around Messi. Not the real Messi, just a cardboard cut out but looks realistic.
My mate has one on his wall.
Can one of our bright sparks bring out a pic of the Messiah with his arm around Messi.
On second thoughts how much would a cardboard cut out of Messi cost, mm'm.
