Heitinga eyed by Spartak

20/07/2012 | Comments (13)
The Daily Mail would have you believe that Spartak Moscow are back in for John Heitinga, having apparently failed to land him in February with a £4.5m bid.

The notoriously unreliable paper says that the Dutch defender is on the Russian club's wanted list after Fenerbahçe (wasn't that Besiktas? — Ed) also made their interest known earlier this month.

If all the rumours are true, we would end up playing with two players. Leon Osman and Tony Hibbert. Thank God for them.......:)

Wasn't Ossie linked with West Ham a while back? Just leaves good old Tony Hibbert.

Johnny said on Evertontv last night that he's going nowhere.

At the end of the day, it ain't up to him if he stays or goes. All this transfer crap going about, just wait till the start of the season.

I for one don't really want Pienaar back at Everton, there must be better younger hungrier players out there available for similar amounts of money.

Thankfully (for us) he had a terrible tournament at the Euros and hasn't attracted unwanted attention, until this story. I predict a strong season for Johnny H this year.

I don't see Neville being a regular starter this season so I say Heitinga as captain. It's best having your captain as a defender and he seems to be very talkative, unlike Jagielka, who was vice captain a few times last season. But saying that, I suppose when you name a captain you expect him to be a guaranteed starter.

Maybe the sucess of Everton's defence last season (3rd best defence in the prem) was the competition between Heitinga, Jagielka and Distin.

The captain doesn't need to be a guaranteed starter John - Neville being the prime example.

Chris Perry - I find your comment on Pienaar astounding! You really believe we could find a better player than Pienaar for the couple of mil that we might have. Pienaar was instrumental in the turnaround of our season last year, has a brilliant partnership with Baines and will slot seamlessly back into that team. Even if we did find someone on the cheap they may or may not work out (look at Billy and you have a prime example, plus he wasnt cheap) and we cant afford to not have creativity from that position. There is no gamble with Pienaar, you know what you are getting for your money.

Big money - for him, his agent or EFC - will see Johnny on his way. Same for any player. But he is like a pig in shit at Goodison, totally happy with his working life and stashing away a fortune anyway.

And he wants to move to Moscow? Huge money there since 'privatisation' and anything is possible. But I'll bet he's already got an 1878 tat.

So a club is trying to sign player signed for £6-7million (not entirely sure), who has since had 3 very strong years in the Premier League along with playing in a World Cup final, for £4.5 million?

Christ, If he was English he'd be valued at £20 million.

Bill is trying 24/7 to get this transfer through. The funds will allow Bill to bid for Van Persie. This will be the WOW signing the fans want said Bill. I just hope some other club doesn't gazump us. I have assured Arsenal that the money is ringfenced and that the cheque will be in the bank tomorrow. VP is ok that he will be our highest paid player on the remaining 17p that is left from our income after paying for Finch Farm. This means that we will not be able to sign Pienaar as all our funds have been allocated for the VP deal.

Update 31st July - Man Utd having signed VP and knowing how badly BK wanted a WOW signing have given Bill £7M plus Bebatov and have reduced our wage bill at the same time by taking Baines on loan with a view to a £2m transfer at the end of the season... if Baines pays more than 10 games.

The Everton Board assured fans that the money would be made available in January when hopefully we can get Pienaar back on loan. Barclays thought, "In your dreams Bill. Thanks for the £7M."

Heitinga, Cahill, Yobo transferred out. Barkley, Duffy, Rodwell in squad plus Pienaar. Seems fine to me
