30/07/2012 | Comments (19)
Costa Rican wide-man Christian Bolaños has been mentioned a few times in connection with Everton over the past few days, with Danish media sources apparently suggesting a £2.5m offer has been made.

The 28 year-old right winger currently plies his trade with FC Copenhagen.

Anybody seen this guy in action? Presuming he is right sided? I thought Moyes was hoping to bring the age of the squad down?

28-year-old? Nahh... needs to be younger.

You presume right, he is a right winger. Too good for the Danish League, but difficult to say if he will make it in the Premier League. He takes his defensive responsibilities seriously, as opposed to many other wingers from his part of the world. He has good pace and a bit of flair as well. Should have few problems settling in, Liverpool is a warm and sunny place compared with places he has spent the last five years.

YouTube video from his time in Norway:

Only seen youtube but looks tasty, but then youtube could make Vic look like a world
beater. Small fee low wages he might be worth a go, thats if there is any thing left in the kitty which I doubt...

Followed Christian Bolanos as he played in Norway for a few years before moving to Copenhagen. He is a very skillful player, with a good shot and tends to be among the goals. If its not more than 2 - 2.5 million £ I'd say its an exciting and good buy.

I think he could play on both flanks, and also make cameos as a striker alongside Niki. Oh, he plays regularly for Costa Rica.

If he's left sided exclusively (it sounds like he isn't though), this would be a bad thing for Magaye Gueye's playing time............

Speaking from total ignorance of course, but the elements sound good. The Prem is a hard club to join, but he's not a kid, has European experience and Latin American skills. We know Donovan, and ideally would want him in that position. But could a player like this do it for us from the start?

Ian 895, I know what you mean, but Vic couldn't do the stuff this guy does in his Youtube clips. He looks fast and very skilled therefore far too much of an "artistic" temperament for Moyes perhaps. Sad though, we need a bit of that, eh?

Someone should compile a video to showcase on YouTube Vic's scoring feats, dribbling skills etc. Might help the club to attract one or two buyers for him.

Okay, if we sign Bolanos and nobody's offering for Victor Anichebe – I'll buy him.

Assuming Pienaar signs then a right winger is the final piece in the 'necessity' jigsaw as far as I'm concerned. I'd be happy we could go with what we've got for the first time in about five years.

Rumour is that Moyes was seen in Copenhagen this saturday watching Copenhagen in a league match. It is not the first time that rumours about Moyes scouting in Copenhagen has hit the newspapers. Its only weeks ago that the rumours said it was the forward N'Doye (he went to Russia), now they are saying Bolanos, but most interestingly Danish sports websites today report that actual target of Moyes's interest is the Danish clubs left back Bryan Oviedo (also a Costa Rican) aged 19.

This is of course a bit more interesting baring the position he plays due to the mounting rumours of Baines being United bound. In his style of play, he reminds of Baines (though not the same deadball threat).

I don't really see how we have £2-2.5million after buyng Pienaar tbh... I think this must be false. If we do somehow have more money for a signing, our financial position must have improved (although obviously the wage losses of Beckford, Yakubu, Arteta, Cahill, Faddy, hopefully Yobo, Saha, Bily etc have helped).

Bolanos was involved in the attacking play leading up to two of Copenhagens goals last Saturday in their 3-0 victory, which Moyes apparently attended.

Regarding the fees; of course the club may have different alternatives as to fund a transfer, and personally I think Moyes is scouting and preparing for replacements in case he has to sell someone all the time. He likes to be well prepared.

After watching that clip (though I know it's only youtube), Big Vic isn't qualified to clean this guy's boots.

Would be pleasantly surprised if we had any more to spend after Pienaar.

Might try loaning him for a season 1st like we did originally with pienaar, with a view to buy if he settles in the prem?

Mike Allison @935, you say "a right winger is the final piece in the 'necessity' jigsaw"
But as the Pienaar/Baines combination has shown, it takes 2 to tango, and we need a right back 'urgently' if we are to progress this season. Maybe Coleman would link up well with any new signing if he was allowed to claim his preferred position, but Hibbert is an absolute write off. So no, I don't think the jigsaw will ever be complete without a decent right back who can play football; something the present incumbent of the shirt finds difficulty with, and he's over 30 too
