Blues scout Greek winger Fetfatzidis

12/08/2012 | Comments (14)
Everton scouts were expected to watch Greek winger John Fetfatzidis this evening at the Olympic Stadium as Olympiacos take on Sporting in a friendly.

Representatives from the Blues have apparently watched the 21 year-old on two previous occasions.

Somehow I doubt Olimpiacos will let a decent young winger go for the paltry percentage of the Rodwell money that we can give them, but I live in hope.

Looks a player. In the Ben Arfa / Arda Turam mould.. One sided winger with piss taking skill and quite fast.

€12.5m release clause.. That's quite a bit of the Rodwell money if true..

Apparently Owen will be unveiled tomorrow. Move to Stoke didn't happen over wages.

I just watched a few videos of this lad (I'm fully aware it's no indication to his actual quality) and he seems to play mostly on the right wing but looked comfortable on the left also. He uses his right foot to balance on but nothing more, loves to cut inside and shoot or thread the ball in behind for the striker.

Very small lad, I'd imagine he wouldn't do well on the physical side of the Premier League (I dread to think what Stoke would do to him) but has a top notch first touch and good pace. Considering he's only 21, about £4 million would seem fair to me.

Personally I would prefer the Rodwell money to be spent on bringing in Donavan permanently or by adding more creativity in the center. On the whole Rodwell business, I feel it was an obvious panic by City and a bad one at that; considering Sigurdsson and Modric were/are both available I found it very strange to buy such an average player, although I wish him the best.

Matt, from what I have just read, Owen seems pretty nailed on !

So we only get £12 million then... so we have been shafted again.

Oh Bill Kenwright – will you ever piss off? I'm refusing to even post something on this forum or even look at it again. Everton FC, you are bad for my health.

Just looked into it a bit more, its original source seems to be twitter, so probably bollocks.

I suppose it is all down to what the board give Moyes. I have a bad feeling he will get zilch, or as pointed out above they will allow him a couple of loans too bolster the squad. If they do give him part of the fee, then I would rather that he spent it on the likes of Ince and Phillips from Blackpool than a Dempsey or heaven forbid Owen who will cost a fortune in wages and signing on fees.

A few young pacey wingers have been touted, I think it would do Coleman good to have a bit of competition on the right and offer us another option. Ince, Philips or this lad Fetfatzidis - I've seen both Ince and Philips play for Blackpool last season and I think it is fair to say they won't slot straight into the 1st team, but do present a option we're lacking PACE.

As for Owen - I hope this is not true. No offence Mr Owen, but you wasted 3 years at Man U for no reason that isn't a 'Moyes' type attitude.

I cant see Moyes even sniffing at Owen this year. Maybe last year but we aren't in that desperate a situation to pay that crocks high wage demands or are we?

Bit of speculation: Moyes is after the Belgian forward/winger Meirles who plays for Olympiacos rather than this lad. I wouldn't have minded Lukaku from Chelsea but went to West Brom.
