The Rumour Mill

Dubious link to Charlie Adam

16/08/2012 | Comments (37)
Alan Nixon in The Mirror tries one on with the claim that David Moyes is looking to take Liverpool's unwanted midfielder Charlie Adam across Stanley Park for £5m.

The Mail join in with what appears to be nothing more than a regurgitation of the Mirror story, complete with cross-reference.

If it weren't for the northwest connection and the fact that David Moyes's brother is the Scottish nark's agent, there probably wouldn't be anything to this link at all.

Hope he doesn't join us – he's been crap for Liverpool so why would he be good enough for us!!! I'd rather see Mirallas and Niang with Adam Johnson on loan!!

I hope Moyes sends a car for him. If he walks across the park, he'll kick a park worker, two dogs and a baby carriage on the way.

So we sell Rodwell, and buy Adam then? Right, I don't always agree with David Moyes, but he is definately not a complete bloody idiot!

On the other hand, with Rodwell gone, we are on the lookout for a new good looking 'poster boy' I suppose.....

Weren't we interested in Adam before he ended up at Anfield? And we ended up with Gibson instead. Similar players, similar positions, Adams appears more mobile, long range shooting, and fierce (and dubious?) tackling. But not sure we would accept tainted goods now though.

I hope Everton don't touch the dirty, badmouthing, cheating, scumbag Adam with a barge pole.

I don't think Adam is as bad as he's looked at Liverpool. I wanted him last year but do we need him now?
Jon Ferguson

No way! Not the position or player we need. Defo not after poor season for those lot. Stick to the players we've been hearing about the last few days.

Charlie Adam is a good player when he has other midfielders doing the running for him. The way Blackpool played suited him because all of their players ran around like headless chickens trying to all get up front as quickly as possible. At Liverpool, the midfielders like to stand there and keep attempting 60 yard hollywood passes. If a centre midfielder is what we are going for, we need somebody at least as mobile as Rodwell could be (I say could be because he didnt do it nearly enough). Like somebody has already said, he is too similar to Gibson. The fact he had a bad year last year doesnt bother me, his team had a bad year and we havent exactly done badly in the past when taking players who weren't exactly starting any fires at their old clubs (Arteta, Pienaar (twice)).

Dan, I remember him being good at Blackpool as well but can you see Moyes allowing our players 'to get up front as quickly as possible' in order to get the best out of him?

Would rather Kevin Johnson

328 Posted 16/08/2012 at 09:23:31
No, Eric, that was my point. I don't think we are suited to him currently and that we already have similar players in the centre. We need a player with real energy to add something different to what we already have, if that is the position we are looking at filling.

Not going to happen, if we get Miralles, I doubt very much we will get another 5/6million pound signing on top

While Trinity usual employ the 'names from a hat' style of football transfer journalism..The fact that Alan Nixon has actually put his name on this one suggests to me that there may be something in it..

I'd sooner we bought Charlie Chaplin.

Not only slow and lazy, but a cheating scumbag as well.

In my opinon not a suitable pupil of the school of science.

Some players fit certain clubs and some don't.
Charlie Adam is a dirty little runt who has "lfc" written all over him.
He is beneath us and his name won't be mentioned in the same sentence as the Mighty Blues.

This is complete and utter rubbish. Not needed and the only reason he is being linked is because Moyes's brother is his agent. Wouldn't look into it at all. Why would we sign him to null Barkley's and Francisco's progress.

Lol at this one. Mirallas and Johnson look the most viable, although I don't think we will get Johnson. Also, one of the best strikers in the league imo, Javier Hernandez, is looking like leaving....i know it's dream world, but given the connection, could we get him on loan?

Adam is a left sided player and we have Naismith and Pienaar now.
Pienaar actually being better on the left and cutting in to his right.
Wasn't particularly impressed with Adam playing for Scotland yesterday as on several occasions the perfect pass to Naismith would have set up a scoring chance but Adam made the wrong choice. Still, he is a good player and the more options we have in midfield the better.

Alan Nixon? I'm more likely to believe Richard Nixon.

I wouldn't necessarily dismiss this one. Moyes is on record as saying he would have liked to sign him from Blackpool but we didn't have any money. He has looked a bit exposed playing in a 4-4-2 at Liverpool, where his lack of mobility has been obvious. But in a 4-5-1 at Blackpool, like we also play, he looked far better, and his set pieces at Blackpool were also very good.
I think we are crying out for a right winger far more than a centre mid, but I have seen far more tenuous links than this one this summer.

Unfortunately I can't quite bring myself to write this one off entirely, but it doesn't seem that likely. I think we'll probably get only one out of Mirallas, Niang and Adam, and Adam seems the least likely by far. Adam's a decent enough player and probably good value at £5m, but not what we need.

With Gibson, Fellaini, Naismith, Osman and potentially Barkley competing for three centre midfield spots, Adam doesn't seem that necessary, leaving aside his qualities as an individual and Liverpool reject. Right midfield definitely needs to be the priority, really hope we get Mirallas.

Well, new season is about to start.

Here, in my little village, two or three thousand kilometers from Liverpool, I'm waiting for the beggining of my first whole football season as Everton supporter, and ToffeeWeber.

I will be free to ask do we need a Rumours section because if Everton have nickname "School of science" shouldn't we be more rational and keep that kind of 'information' a little bit further from those who visiting this site. Maybe I'm wrong, and please tell me if I am.

Greetings from Bosnia! Win some trophies!

Charlie Adam a possible Everton Legend. As he was at Bloomfield Road.

Before the hated reds made him a millionaire overnight, he was just a footballer, and a damn good one.

What a left foot. A tad clumsy from time to time but hey. No ones perfect. Another Rangers man called Duncan wasn't a bad fella once yer got to know him!

He's ready, he's rich now thanks to the filth and he's able to concentrate on his game in the right (blue) environment and prove the doubters wrong.

And remember he will hate the reds as much as we do after treating him like dog shite since he arrived there.

Sign him up David/Kenny.

This is the rumour that is not going away. I can see it happening, especially if he has turned down Fulham.
