Everton eyeing up Artur Boruc
Boruc, 32, is available to be signed outside the transfer window having been a free agent since leaving Fiorentina at the end of last season.
The Poland international had a trial at Everton's Finch Farm training ground on Sunday, while he has also been linked with QPR, Werder Bremen and Ukrainian side Dnipro.
"I'm fit and available and a little bit surprised to be in this situation following two good seasons in Serie A with Fiorentina," he said recently.
"I was offered an extension with Fiorentina but felt it was the right time for a change and have had several other offers which just didn't feel right at the time.
"I almost signed with QPR before Julio Cesar became available but despite that I am looking forward to my next challenge."
Boruc joined Celtic from Legia Warsaw in 2005 and spent five years with the club, winning three Scottish Premier League titles, before moving to Fiorentina.

I don't think Mucha will be up to it after all his time on the bench but I don't think Boruc would be a long term solution either.

Artur Boruc!
The Holy Goalie!
He hates the Huns!
He crossed himself at Ibrox and the Huns went off their nut. He's off his fuckin rocker and he sings GOD BLESS THE POPE!
Sign him up!
Love the guy, but he's not the answer.

I watched Boruc a lot when he was at Celtic. I just don't think he's Premier League quality.
I really love the cross himself, loves the Pope Polish keeper – I do. At Celtic he was a cult hero or sorts. But we'd be just as well off to save the money and give Mucha a run.
BTW Shane, I do think AB hates Rangers fans. He used to cross himself before every game and would receive absolute bile and rage from the RFC fans. His "crossings" became a gigantic FU to them as he'd turn, face them directly, and cross himself in a very slow and protracted "in your face" kind of way. The abuse he received back was exceedingly vitriolic and just downright nasty. There was no love loss whatsoever between Boruc and the Hu.... er the Rangers fans.
The Holy Goalie song uses the word "hate" and might be a little strong. But from what I saw it wasn't far from the mark.
Besides, "strongly dislike" really doesn't roll off the tongue well does it? Would kind of ruin the song if you ask me.

after watching the replays of NU's 2 goals last night I'm beginning to wonder if my 14 year old son who plays up top wouldn't be worse than Howard.
Overall I rate Howard ahead of Boruc. But Howard is off to a terrible start to the season, and if it continues I'd not hesitate to reverse that.
Sorry for my misunderstanding. I concur with your thought - Boruc could very much endear himself to Everton fans and stoke the rivalry the way he did at Celtic.
Boruc always seemed a bit slow on the feet to me. Great shot stopper, but his quickness down low always seemed to lack a bit.

Boruc is just another emergency No.3.

Just because your mates with a few Huns doesn't justify an answer like that... Or should we just forget about Bobby and John Collins and other great Celtic players that have played for both clubs? Oh shit, David Moyes, you're a Celtic wanker as well, you're not needed here anymore — Mike Powell the Wanker says so.

Boruc before every game turns towards his own net just inside the 6, says a prayer, and crosses himself. Hence I'd dub him "the crosses himself Polish keeper".
When asked about the Rangers chant in the Tina Turner song, "Simply the Best", Boruc has replied in interviews, "God loves the Pope." He also has donned T-shirts under his jersey with a mug of the Pope that say "God loves the Pope." Hence, I'd dub him the "loves the pope Polish Keeper".
Put them together and you get "the crosses himself, loves the Pope Polish keeper" as a descriptor.
Hope that clears it up.
Mike Powell - my apologies. Dropped. Kind of hard IMO to have a conversation regarding Boruc without bringing that song up, especially in light on his antics. I only quoted the song because frankly it was one of my favorites and still is.
One of the major reasons I support Everton well before Celtic is down to the fact that at Everton these shenanigans with religion aren't an issue. So if I've offended, please accept my most sincere apology.
Whereas I do enjoy and support Celtic secondarily, it in no way compares to my love for Everton. And consequently, I would never wish to upset a Blue.
Mike, my only question to you is, if you "don't any of them ex-Celtic wankers in our team," do you want Moyes out? And wasn't it that ex-Celtic player, now manager, that thankfully went and got us Arteta, Jelavic, Naismith?
My point is I don't give a fiddler's fart about where they came from, I only care that they are good men and help Everton Football Club.

I didn't hear a backlash regarding ex-Rangers wankers when we signed Jelavic & Naismith?
Jamie,
Mind your Ps & Qs, upsetting fellow (Everton) Blues isn't on the agenda!

Eyeing up sounds a bit flirtatious, actually. "Oi, darlin' – fancy a game?" Maybe that's how our scouts work... If they see anyone they like, they wolf-whistle. Or chat them up. Or take them out for a drink or dinner. Or whatever it is that people do.

Football Scout meets Casting Couch?
Somehow it's not really gelling as a coherent image.
In fact... it's a little worrisome. Or am I being narrow-minded?

Is there an enlightening analogy to be made between fancying/marrying a woman* and admiring/signing a football player? I suspect there probably is, but I'm not going to make it. Not at the moment anyway.
* or, man, if you're a female Toffeewebber.
