One for the future? — Arkadiusz Milik

01/11/2012 | Comments (16)
The Echo is reporting that Everton are 'monitoring' Polish teenage goal-grabber Arkadiusz Milik.

The 6ft forward has netted six times in eight games for Polish top-flight side Gornik Zabrze, and already has two full international caps for his country after making his debut against South Africa at the start of October and then facing England in the 1-1 draw in Warsaw.

Milik could cost around £1M and is more a long-term potential prospect for the Blues, rather than a priority in the January transfer window.

Sign him up now, no brainer. The lad looks quality and if we can grab him now for decent fee he will pay is back in spades either on the pitch or on resale.

No brainer? You've seen him play 15 minutes of football, if that.

Didn't we sign Robert Warzycha from Gornik Zabrze?

I'm not sure how an 18 year old with only a handful of games (and goals to be fair) can be classed as a 'no brainer'. He may turn out to be a star, but surely it's still a gamble, especially for us scratching around for pennies or selling players to bring in new faces who can immediately start in the first team.

Velios anyone ?... I think we'll end up with a collection of loanees and £1 mill allsorts, when it would've been better buying one good one.

Looks a talented kid and if £1m is true for an 18-year-old with two caps, that sounds like good business. Also, he's got a great left foot, strong in the air (which will suit our system), quick and good eye for a pass.

Looks like an Everton No 9 from the 4'-57" I saw..

There seem to be somethings you can't teach. Pace, height, he on first blush seems to have great athleticism and some flair.

Send a scout and sign him up. Poland has some very good talent. lewandowski to me is a top 7 striker in the world

"Some things" I meant to write...

And as an aside, the Ronaldo's of this world came from somewhere too (Sporting). He didn't go straight to Man U.

Regarding these types of purchases - it only takes one good one to make up for 15 mistakes.

I am beginning to think that we really do need one more quality striker as well as a holding mid in the next window, Jelavic can't do it all on his own and needs someone to put the pressure on him.

Whether or not this lad is going to be the answer is a big question, but as its obvious there will be little money to spend and even fewer assets we can afford to let go come the window then this or a deal like it though is the only option.

My suspicion is that there will only be one signing that being a holding mid and, if we're lucky, a loan or two.
