Another Belgian linked; Gordon incoming?

Everton are being linked with yet another Belgian, with the Sunday Mirror reporting that Blues scouts have watched FC Twente winger Nacer Chadli who is valued around £7m.

The same report adds credence to whispers on Merseyside that Everton will pick up free agent goalkeeper Craig Gordon who remains without a club after leaving Sunderland in the summer.

I have seen quite a bit of Chadli and he looks very good — probably out of our price range to be fair!

Maybe getting Odjidja-Ofoe and Craig Gordon in on loan and (money willing) get in Jelle Vossen to help Jelavic up front.

I love that you keep banging the Vossen drum, Paul. Looks a real threat to me from what I've seen. Competition/rest certainly wouldn't hurt the James Bond villian aka Jelavic (don't remember who made that comment but they're spot on!!)

Whoever we sign (if anyone?), it's crucial for business to be done early; we've seen the benefit from this early part of the season how it affects the team in such a positive way.

Why do we keep signing/being linked with these jourenymen keepers? Wessels, Hahnemann, Mucha, Manninger etc. Howard needs serious competition.

Gordon was once the most expensive keeper ever, but his career fizzled out at Sunderland. That's not to say he's a bad keeper, and Mucha is clearly never gonna be the answer, so he can't be any worse.

I would like to see us sign Al Habsi to compete with Howard, Sessegnon from Sunderland to give Pienaar and Osman some competition, and another striker.

Cheers Christopher! I thought I would have got more stick for mentioning him so much but I genuinely believe he is a great player. He's Belgian so will have familiar faces here to help him settle; he has regularly scored goals at all levels; he is a target man, can score with either feet and is young — what's not to like??? Apart from maybe the price tag!

I have seen Bent been mentioned for £8 million but I reckon we could get Vossen for less than that and still have some left for loans (that's if we have £8 million in the first place!)

Knowing Kenwright, we'll probably get the free ones. We're the skintest club in the Premier League. Clubs like Stoke with a new ground and money to spend will eventually leave us behind. The way we operate is unsustainable and will eventually come crashing down. Probably when Moyes goes in the summer. And Fellaini.
