Moyes hints at loan deals only

08/12/2012 | Comments (25)
David Moyes has revealed he is eyeing a number of potential loan signings for Everton during the January transfer window.

Moyes is not planning to spend big next month, but the Toffees boss is hopeful of landing a number of players to temporarily strengthen his squad.

“We may well go into the loan market and see if we can find anything in that area,” Moyes told Everton's website.

“I think that would probably be the way we are looking.”

Vossen, Odjidja-Ofoe, Donovan and Butland will do for me thank you!

Donovan, Cahill and this Belgian midfielder we missed in the summer. That would be smart inexpensive players who could ADD depth to the squad for a few months. And Cahill only as a cover.

Cahill served his time and became `a mini-legend`. Why can`t Moyes leave it at that and give some kid a chance????

I despair!

Why has he come out and said he is bringing Cahill back phil?

I can only see Cahill coming back to gee the lads up and offer some dressing room presence. He doesn't fit into the side, and he's utterly gone at the game now anyway.

That message from Moyes doesn't bode well for his contract negotiations does it?

After all we may be in one of the CL places come the end of December and may well need additions to push forward in the latter part of the season.

Why, week-in and week-out, does he have to constantly undermine any feel good factor by harping on about what he isn't going to do in the next transfer window, it hardly inspires the supporters or the players.

I tell you what, DM: get enough points to retain our place in the PL for next season and then do one.

You will be missed for many reasons, but it won't be for raising the hopes of the fans!

What's the point of raising hopes, Patrick, if he knows they're going to be dashed?! As ever, Moyes is realistic and honest in his assessment.

I think we will see Odjidja-Ofoe, a striker on loan, and a small outlay on someone like that Vegard Forren bloke. Liverpool, Spurs and Arsenal meanwhile will splash upwards of £15M each.

FFS, Patrick (#025)

Moyes has taken us from relegation candidates to the top end... and he's never raised your hopes?

Patrick...

Oh, what's the point? If I strayed into a second syllable you'd have problems.

Better not stray there, then, had you Ged... I mean, as long as the club exists then everything is hunky-dory. I don't mind you having a go and putting a counter argument in place, but where do you get off questioning my ability to read or write?

By the way, the word 'syllable' has three of them.

If PL survival is your best hope, then David Moyes is your man. Should you dream of winning any sort of trophy. he is less than useless.

Look no further than last year's derby game debacle when he did to us what he dare not do to fans of any other club. Not only that, but I have no doubt that, should similar circumstances arise, he will do the same thing again.

I think the loan market in January is a good thing for the club.

We're going for 4th, we need decent additions to help get us there, we could spend the little money we have on permanent fixtures of Champions League quality... on Champions League (ish) wages.

If we miss out on 4th, we are then stuck paying high wages without the chance of Champions League money; loan players just go back to their respective clubs.

I don't mind Moyes saying it how it is, shows he's stopped the double act with Kenwright.

Why he's decided to do it just as his contract is running out leaving him free to pursue other options is probably coincidental.

Honestly.

I'm a bit confused here about some of the comments, I wasn't aware that Moyes had come out and said anything at all about bringing Cahill back. Have I missed something?

Loan deals is fine with me especially with an option to buy at a certain price if all goes well.

Cahill? — thanks but no thanks. We need new blood to add something different to the mix.

Tony Twist was an "enforcer" in the NHL in the 90's.... That means a mug who'd go out and beat the living hell out of the opposing team's big guy (all in the spirit of protecting his own best player) . Look him up on line, what an animal. Is that the same Tony Twist?? I for one want

Surprise? none. Keep what we have and Bent on loan, and maybe the other Belgian. Donovan's supposed to be off to contemplate his soul/navel or maybe make a road movie.

On the other thread it's being discussed we are losing around £10 to £14m a season and thats where the August 2011 transfer fees and wages. Of course it's going to loan deals unless someone gets sold - hopefully Heitinga, not baines or Fellaini.

Everton have already brought in Jelavic, Gibson, Pienaar and Miralles this year, so a couple of loans deals to top that up makes perfect sense.

If Liverpool want to go out and spend £15m on more second-rate, overpriced players they are welcome to - Henderson, Downing, Borini, Carroll, Coates, Allen - that's a comedy list for starters.

Plus it's been fun to ready the posts... he's bringing some loan deals in...hope he doesn't bring back Cahill...what he's bringing back Cahill?!...I can't believe he's decided to bring back Cahill!...well now we're not signing anybody and instead bringing back Cahill!!! etc...

If we were to sign a midfielder, I'd like to get James McCarthy from Wigan. He scored two yesterday and will always get goals. He will be a really good player in the future.

Why do we need loans players? If you want to change it about, give Duffy, Barkley and Vellios more playing time. They're fit and should be ready for the task ahead.
