Jurno still thinks Sinclair can come on loan

Steve Page calms in The Sun that David Moyes is eyeing up a six-month loan deal for Manchester City flop Scott Sinclair. The winger has had just two league starts for the champions since his £8million summer move from Swansea.

Sinclair, 23, is frustrated at his lack of chances and could use a loan move at Champions League chasers Everton to prove his worth. But there's a problem: He's already played for Man City and Swansea this season...

Ahh! hot from the press from that respected journal; must be true they're usually bang on.

Isn't it 2 teams per calender year?

If he has already played for Swansea and Man City this season would he even be allowed to play for Everton? I thought there was a rule saying you could only play for two teams in the same season? What would be the point of a loan if the player was ineligible to play????

Another example of a career ruined by signing for City.

Apparently a player can play for upto 3 clubs in a season on a permanent basis. But can go out on loan as many times as they like.

Dream (within vague bounds of reality) transfer window:

Sell Heitinga for £7m

Buy Forren (who turns out to be great) for £2.5m
Loan Horau, Sinclair and Odjidja-Ofoe
Buy Butland for £5m

I realise this is 5 players coming in and only 1 out which might upset the wage bill but don't see any of the incoming being on huge wages (assuming City subsidise Sinclair which they have done in the past)

Sam, I would agree with selling Hetinga but I think that I would prefer to see us buy a couple of decent players useing all of the transfer fee any any spare cash rather than bring in loan signings as well.

When you look at our last two transfer windows, signing players on permenant transfers has worked out a lot better in terms of squad development and how settled it is at present. For me, we have a really good squad and bringing in the right players on long term deals will bring far more momentum than loan signings. Moyes has shown that he still has a knack for a good signing and I would be confident he could sign the right players.

James Stewart, agree totally. Unless you are a big name established player, why would you move to City. It is like an up and coming player going to Chelsea five or six years ago.

In terms of doing any type of business with City, I am in two minds as to whether or not they would entertain us at all. Before the Rodwell transfer, I would have said definitely not. Now, I'm not so sure. I think that Rodwell proved that any bad blood over the Lescott move has gone. They don't see us as outright competition so they won't mind selling or loaning us players.

Kieran, I know what you're saying but when your resources are as limited as us I think it makes sense to try a player out on loan first. Gibson and Jelavic were different as they were both available at knockdown prices and if Moyes finds a real bargain then he should absolutely go for it...Otherwise I think loans like Pienaar, Donovan, Arteta have worked for us in the past and represents less risk.

One thing is for sure that with Tottenham and Chelsea and Arsenal looking stronger in recent weeks, we need some more players if we are to compete for 4th.

If he's not good enough to get in City's team - he's not good enough for us.

I wonder if we could get Nani on loan - well out of favour at Man Utd.

Tony (#388) - two teams in a calendar year applies to any player who has been transferred in the close season, and a straight loan thereafter would have you up to three and that happens loads of times doesn't it? Only makes any sort of sense if you are talking about within a season so that, as in the case of Sinclair, if you transfer after the start of the season you are already up to two and a loan makes three in the same season. Okay if loaned to another division / league I think, but frowned upon if it is the same one.

Not sure what the purpose of this rule is. Presume this is to stop the super-rich clubs from directly affecting how competitive other teams are in their league whenever they feel like it. Doesn't work too well with the season starting before the close of the transfer window (though that may be to encourage earlier deals).

Can be loaned but must have view to buy

We have signed these ''flops at other clubs'' before and mostly they don't pan out.
Why not go with what we have in Oveido and Gueye along the wings?
Whatever is available and it is not much, it won't change Evertons status in the league.
We are good enough only for round 6th.to 8th spot if we are honest.

Tom, if we play with bth Oviedo and Gueye, we would be lucky to get 8 th. apart from them both being left sided, neither are good enough.
Moyes should sell Gueye along with Heitinga this month, Oviedo may improve, but without better payers we aren't going to progress. Simple as that.
