Last Hoorah for Hoarau?

02/01/2013 | Comments (8)
The name of Guillaume Hoarau is linked once more with Everton by sources in France speculating on the the 28-year-old's future at PSG, and a growing conviction that he could be off to the Premier League this month.

A similar link appeared earlier this month, so this may be nothing more than link recycling but the French giants have now confirmed that the striker is in talks "with an interested club".

It wouldn't be such a bad thing taking Hoarau on loan till the end of the season IMO. We could use it as like a trial period, let him bed in and see what he can offer us and if we think he can be of use to us for a few years, sign him on a free in the summer?!.

I just wish we could concentrate a bit more on one or two who have proved themselves in the premiership or younger players who are doing well in the championship.
We should have bent over backwards to get Lukako who is going to be the next Drogba, he is wasted playing in a poor team.

I envy the benches of at least six other teams in the division and DM can only watch helplessly as he sees his few Spartans never being able to rest and recover because he has totally inadequate deputies for them.

How on earth can he be expected to sustain a challenge throughout the season with a squad of the size he has at his disposal.
If by some miracle we made europe, how in Gods name will we be able to fulfill the extra fixtures ??

If money is not made available then its a wing and a prayer with the likes of Hitz, Naismith, Heitinga and a bunch of sub standard youngsters trying to maintain the teams results.

From the start of the season I knew that we would start to falter once injuries and fatigue began to bite.
Mancini is saying his squad is too small so what the F..K do you think DM thinks of his ?
He does not come out with complaints publicly but he must be really frustrated as he sees all his hard work in assembling the most talented first eleven we have had for years being eroded.
I would not blame him for delaying signing his contract as I don't think this man is driven by money alone.
I reckon he feels saddened and as dismayed as any Blue fan at the way his hands have been tied.
Every time any other club show interest in a player, we drop out of the bidding.
He is left with the dregs of the barrel when his options are reduced to resigning Mac Fadden and bringing in other teams discards.

Our fans deserve much more and are entitled to a boardroom who strive to live up to our motto and stop shopping at Poundland whilst our rivals are shopping at Harrods.
Surely at least ten million must be budgetted for each season to improve our efforts on the pitch.
I don't expect us to compete with the top four or five in the transfer stakes but surely we can compete with the rest.
We finish higher and have more fans so some money must be available without selling our best players.

Even when players have been sold and wages saved the money has vanished apart from a pittance.
Give DM the incentive to sign his contract otherwise he will be as burnt out as he team of hero's who punch above their weight each season.

Talking of French players Anthony Knockeart at leicester looks good and an emerging talent Moyes should have a look at him.

Lukaku would have been class. I'm sure he would have considered us with our Belgium connections.

Well said Trevor. I am with you all the way. Unlike the many Toffee Web financial wizards, I have little knowledge of our true monetary situation. Paying big wages in order to attract AND KEEP quality players has enabled Mr Moyes to assemble a competitive squad which is now beginning to show glaring deficiencies. He will have something up his sleeve. He always does. Let's hope it's a pleasant surprise.

Happy New Year.

Lukaku, would be good but would prefer not to take players from the Premiership who are unlikely to stay if things go well.

What about Douglas from FC Twente, a large and rapid brazilian defender whose contract is running down. Get him Holtby and Horau in and i'd be feeling more optimistic about 4th spot.

Good shout Clive #522, Knockaert as been outstanding in the championship this season and was linked to Newcastle last season but Leicester stepped in 1st this summer and got him relatively cheap.

Little, skillfull winger who's very good on the ball but wouldnt come cheap anymore after a fine start to his career in England!.

And there is some good possible freebies this summer. As Sam #535 mentions, there's Hoarau, Holtby, Douglas and the young French midfielder from Toulouse, Sissoko who will be a free come the summer but wether we can compete to sign any of these players is another thing as clubs with more money and more of a chance of qualifying for the CL will be in for these lot, Especially the likes of Holtby, Douglas and Sissoko!.

Agree completely, Trevor. Moyes's stubbornness if he signs a new contract could hopefully be a good thing for us if he's holding out for a transfer kitty. Slightly ironic however, that Moyes commented the Demba Ba uncertainty could prove pivotal tonight, when his own future appears uncertain.

The only thing is British players whether proven or not appear to be at a premium. The guy at Derby, Will Hughes would probably go for £5-10million but this stage of the season IMO isn't the right time to buy players for the future, more a time to plug gaps etc. Wages will most probably be a stumbling block but Quaresma is a Moyes type player barring the age. Hopefully we'll see one or two sneak in.

Just wondering if anyone saw the potential buyers that were supposedly around on Sunday?
