PSG said to be lining up Baines bid

Paris St Germain are supposedly going to make a bid for Everton full back, Leighton Baines, according to TalkSport.

French football journalist Julien Laurens says he can see why Paris Saint-Germain could move for Leighton Baines, amid reports the big-spending club are lining up a £15million bid for the Everton defender.

"PSG are looking for a left-back who can be there for the next few years. Someone like Leighton Baines would fit the bill perfectly," Laurens told Graham on Extra Time.

And of coarse the home loving lad would love to move abroad.

This is yet again utter nonsense. Despite the fact that he's thoroughly happy here, despite the fact that he's quoted as getting notoriously homesick (which would preclude a move to Paris) you can add the fact that £15mil is a derisory offer for the best left back in Europe.

When will a decent minded Journalist stick his neck out and remark upon the fact that this would see Baines leave at a bargain-basement price. If you wanted Lahm I believe you would have to pay £22-27mil, by that logic Baines would have to be worth £30mil plus.

Talkshite? Didn't Cashley Cole's mum tell the world he is going to PSG when his contract expires at Chelski? Lazy journalism again

Why does any of the above stop PSG from making an enquiry / bid? The article doesn't say he has accepted just that they are apparently interested.

We all rate him , so why shouldn't some top clubs be interested in seeing if he can be tempted? Isn't that why football has transfer fees and transfer windows?

Everton are known to be skint, which makes a low bid more likely to be tempting. Just the way things are I am afraid.

Still don't think he will go abroad though.

If the offer isn't in double figures and start with a 3 don't even bother. Though I might be tempted with 28 + a free pick at 2 of their players.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks £15m for Baines is a pathetic valuation. He's arguably the best left back in the Prem so you've got to be looking at £25m min.

Seriously guys, why would he want to join PSG?

The lad is in it for the football, not the money.

He has to be worth £35m in todays market. He is sensational and we are really lucky to have such quality players. He has excellent temperament and rarely playacts, unlike so many of the horrible little shits in the premier league.

No chance. If Bainesy goes anywhere it will be to Manchester Utd. And I know he's probably the world's greatest Left Back but he isn't worth £35m, We will be unlucky not to get £25m for him though. That's if he does go anyway; he could stay.

How many years does Baines have left on his contract? I can only see him going to another PL club and it doesn't make sense for him to move in January.

He's an exceptional Everton player but:

I fully expect him to go to Man Ure or possibly Shitty at the end of the season for around £15m if we don't qualify for the CL – but, and I think Baines knows this, it will take a player like Pienaar on the left wing, to make him look that little bit better than ll the other left backs.

The truth is that if EFC want to sell him, he will be sold; who to will then depend on the highest bidder. At the moment I would not think that EFC need or want to sell him.

Baines is a top player but, in a way, you are right, Lewis. With England I have seen him give the ball to Downing, Young or Milner before flying up the wing in his usual manner. Unfortunately, they then cut inside and do not return the pass. This has to be the fault of the coach but Baines needs to get angry.

Another small point: Pienaar can cut in before reverse-passing to Baines because he is naturally right footed. Too many times we have tried to duplicate it with left footers — Bily, Gueye, etc — It just doesn't work.

The only place I worry about Baines going is one of the Manchester clubs. He is a home boy and won't be interested in moving down south or abroad. [Crosses fingers...]
