Lampard rejects 3-year Everton deal

06/01/2013 | Comments (21)
Goal.com make the almost preposterous claim that Frank Lampard has rejected a three-year, £100,000-a-week offer from Everton.

The midfielder is set to leave Chelsea in the summer after being told he will not get a new contract at Stamford Bridge.

It's widely believed that Lampard has his eye on a lucrative swansong in the MLS in the United States rather than join another English club, with LA Galaxy his most likely destination.

Yeah, more chance of Moyes going to Man U and Benitez taking over the small club than this load of old gubbins.

Yeah right, we offered a 34-year-old (35 when he'd join us) a 3-year deal — despite having a club policy of not offering contracts of over 12 months to players over a certain age. Nice try, Lampard's agent... next time, do your homework!

So rumours going round today that we offered Frank Lampard a 3-year deal on £45k a week, and he has rejected it. Is it just me that is relieved is this is true? To offer a 34-year-old a big contract for three years is just madness.

Stephen, #781, remember you are talking about the club that gave a foreign player a 5-year contract when he'd got a 4-year work permit. Things didn't work out so we ended up paying him off on a free transfer...

Oh my sides – £45k a week over 3 years? So £7 million for a 35-year-old who's been practically crocked for 2 years... Are we really that gullible... or stupid?

Actually don't answer that!

It appears to be a load of bollocks but it would stop him scoring against us as usual.

Watching the game last Sunday, other than his headers he was gash, no pace, piss poor free kick and looks to now live up to the Fat Frank tag, no thanks.

Thanks Gavin, for your concise and elequent synopsis of Lampard. I wish you were on MOTD instead of Shearer...I'd love to see Linekers grid if the response to his question of "Why won't Chelsea give him another contract?" was the above summary of Fat Frank.

We used to call lads like him "goal hangers" absolutely useless in crap teams as he proves with England.

The howls of derision as he wandered round Goodison like a lost sheep would be heard in New Brighton. A fraud of the "golden generation" alongside Beckham, Owen and Ferdinand, thank god this is BS.

I've been calling him Fat Frank for years, so am I bothered?

"Fat Frank" has scored 156 PL goals, is fifth on the list of PL goal scorers and is the highest placed current player. Not bad for a fat midfielder. Don't get me wrong, I don't want him either, but a bit of balance wouldn't go amiss before you slag him off.

Great player in his day, and will still have a few good days, but more likely in MLS than at GP I hope.

Simon that's exactly the uselessness of using stats alone.

Instead of just using pointless anecdotes?
