Twitter chatter has Johnny heading back to Ajax

Twitter is... erm... all atwitter about resurfaced rumours linking Johnny Heitinga, Everton's Player of the Season of 2011-12, with a return to Ajax Amsterdam, though it seems to stem from a fake Frank de Boer account and nothing more substantial than that.

With Everton known to be very keen on Vegard Forren and reportedly close to signing the 24 year-old, the unsettled Heitinga would be an obvious candidate to move on this month after three-plus years at Goodison.

The speculation was lent further credence when the 29 year-old was left out of Everton's team to face Cheltenham Town in the FA Cup this evening with what was described as a "small injury".

Update

Heitinga responded to the chatter with a Tweet of his own during the game, insisting that he remains committed to Everton and any mention of a move to another club at this stage is just speculation.

Just been told earlier that he's going for 3 mil. I just can't see that myself I reckon they'd take 5 nothing less he doesn't look a happy kiddie that's for sure could be a good move for all concerned
