Any interest in Matias Schelotto?

09/01/2013 | Comments (17)
According to The Mirror, Everton have supposedly made contact with Atalanta over the potential signing of Argentinean winger Matias Schelotto, who plies his trade in Serie A and is thought to have impressed with his energetic displays on the right flank.

The £5million man's possession of an EU passport has no doubt been promoted as a 'plus' by his agent.

Havent seen this guy yet but anyone on the right wing will be better than Naismith who is just not good enough.
We really need to get some additions in now with Gibson and Mirallas out. If we can take maximum points from the next 4 games we stand a great chance of Europa league at least and looking at who the reds have in their next 4 games will widen the gap again.

its an area I think we really need to stregthen.. Right Midfield.. I agree with you Stuart , that Naismith just isn't cutting it at this level. He lacks pace and confidence on the ball..

We do need to sign a right winger but for me, only as backup. When both available, Pienaar and Mirallas should be first choice on the left and right respectively.

Anthony,

Thats fair enough but Mirralles could also be utilised in the Fellaini position or as a replacement for Jelavic if he was injured. At the moment if one of Jelavic, Pienaar, Fellaini or Mirralles are injured we have a problem. Throw in the fact that Fellaini will probably be off either in the summer or over the next couple of weeks and it is obvious that we need extra attacking options. I think the addition of either this lad or Pedro Leon would make sense as it would mean we have 5 players vying for 4 positions. There will be plenty of instances when one of the 5 is injured and it would also mean that we do not have to play pleayers when not 100% fit.

Get as many decent players in as possible, whatever their position. The amount of injuries we get between now and May is what stands in the way of us getting CL football. So the more backup we have, the better, imo.

Any news on Mirallas's injury?

Dunno bout this guy but what about Welbeck?

I would usually not suggest training up another team's youth prospects but he can play anywhere across the front line and could really help us fight for the Champions League spots. He'd have batteries to burn, talent, pace, versatility and a point to prove. Surely worth adding to the cause?

Welbeck... I could see that working... But the fee ? I'd be guessing but wouldnt we have to sell to buy...

If we got £30m for Felliani.... Imagine what Moyes could do with £15m

Lloyd, I was suggesting a loan, which apparently he is available for. Don't think we could afford him otherwise.

Sam – Man Utd would never loan out Wellbeck, not when they're chasing the title. The fact that Reading want him doesn't mean anything. It's just paper talk.

I'd love it if we got him in – he's a very good player – but we won't.

Stuart (#001), like you I haven't been impressed with Naismith's ability but I do like his effort and comitment. I think it is hard to judge Naismith until he starts playing in the position that he is used to which is just behind the striker but, if that is the only position that he can play and to an average standard, then I would sell him when a decent offer comes in and make a nice little profit.

This is one of the reasons why I have been wanting Moyes to drop Fellaini back to midfield.

I've said it before, we must be getting lied to about our accounts, as apparently we are bringing in about 10 new players, all costing from between £5m - £9m.

Thank God, we have finally found some money to give Moyes...........(sarcasm not included)

So many players are being linked with us. If any of these stories come to fruition I just hope its sooner rather than later.

Let's not leave it until deadline day, get them in now and registered so we can play them straight away whilst we've got so many injury's.

We need a right back as cover for Coleman, a right winger to cover for Mirallas who I think is a very good player but seems to be very injury prone, a central defender to cover for Jagielka/Distin, and defensive midfielder to cover for Gibson who again I think is a very good player but is also injury prone.

Just my thoughts, don't know if anyone else agrees. Can't see us getting all them in though with limited funds, maybe one or two transfers and a couple of loans.

This is just one of those rumours that won't happen.

Keith (#603), I agree that we do need backup for Mirallas and Gibson but I'm sure Fellaini will be gone in the summer so possibly two defensive midfielders might be needed.

I'm not so sure on the central defence position as last season Heitinga proved his quality and Duffy could soon be ready for first team experience. Of course we could do with another decent centre-back but I don't think it is as much of a priority compared to other positions.

I'll tell you what is a priority in my opinion, and that's replacing old stiff legs between the posts.
