Everton to trial young Swedish keeper

19/01/2013 | Comments (4)
Everton will apparently take Swedish goalkeeper Jacob Rinne on trial starting 28th January.

A Sweden U19 and U21 international, Rinne currently plies his trade with BK Forward.

Regarding his upcoming opportunity at Finch Farm, he is quoted as saying: "I have nothing to lose. I will go there and obviously do my best and hope to receive positive comments afterwards."

Cripes! a BK Forward player. To Man United, this is Stockport County. Well, not even Man United as the main team in the city, Örebro, were relegated from the premier league last year.

Jacob, välkomma!

See Bill just won't listen to Moyes' - he quite clearly stated that we wanted a Forward - not a BK forward player.

Is it my imagination, or do we seem to buy more than our share of young keepers? Every transfer window, we are linked with another one, who is never heard of again. My theory is that they are being fed to Sylvain.

The last young goal keeper to make it to the first team as a regular was Andy Rankin. And that was about 40 years ago. My advice to the young Swede, wait until you are ready to play in the premier league. Don't waste your time at an academy. Stay at home.ays, it is not stretch of the imagination for Pienaar to play on the right side and Oviedo on the left. Especially, as Pienaar is a right footed player and Oviedo left footed. And as you shouilod know, both are capable of switching sides ..
