Everton track Moenchengladbach striker

28/01/2013 | Comments (24)
Reports today suggest that Everton are in the hunt for Belgian-Brazilian striker Igor De Camargo, who is a apparently surplus to requirements at Borussia Moenchengladbach, but could be beaten to the 29 year-old by Fulham.

The Belgian-Brazilian player is apparently free to leave the Bundesliga club this month for around €2.5m and is being watched by a number of other clubs including Lierse, FC Groenigen and Eintracht Frankfurt.

It's the last of those clubs who were believed to be in "advanced negotations" with De Camarago if a report from rtfb.be is to be believed, but the Daily Mail claim that Fulham are in pole position, having escalated their pursuit once they learned of David Moyes's interest.

That suggestion is lent further credence by the Echo's Greg O'Keeffe who Tweeted earlier today that though Everton are mulling a loan move for De Camargo, the player's agent was in talks at Craven Cottage today.

This guy dives more than Suarez! As much as I want to see new faces in our little squad & competition for Jelavić, I don't want the good Everton name belittled!

Since we are now a big spending club that throws its money around forcefully, we should easily get this player.

As long as he can score...no prob! :D

I'm still have my fingers crossed that we go in for Mauro Zarate.

I know we could do with another out and out striker, but Zarate is the classic Moyes signing (like Pienaar and Arteta ), high class currently not performing quite at his best.

He can play behind the striker or out wide. Available on loan or for £5m from Lazio. A loan with the option to buy at the end of the season would be perfect.

If Sunderland get him I'll be gutted.

Don't believe it. Too old for Moyes

Don't know too much about him but I reckon there is better around in that price bracket, it just depends how much money we have to spend as to who we can get. I would like to see us go for Vossen, Van Wolfswinkel type players either on loan or loan-permanent deals.

Saying that, he may be another Moyes masterstroke who scores for fun!

Agree with #793... or we can buy Beckford back... Uuuuh, I always remember when he scored at Stamford Bridge (if I didn't wrong here) when we just down with 10 men.... So I miss him a lot! That's too bad, so easily DM to sold him.

Jon #793 I couldn't agree more. Probably not a classic striker but Zarate would lift some of the burden off Jelavic and also be able to cover Mirallas as he is a similar player. Probably have to be a loan as I can't see us affording £5 million after signing Leroy Fer.

To old let Fulham have him.

Susong, never mind the Stamford Bridge game, what about the goal he scored against Chelsea at Goodison? I liked Beckford but he hasn't exactly set the Championship on fire has he?

I appointed myself as a scout for Everton (Oceania Division) and emailed the team at Goodison regarding a young winger who is starting to make a big name for himself in the A-League. I got emails back from two guys from the scouting team who both said that they were already following this player and were "monitoring his situation".

Wouldn't hurt to give them a nudge regarding Zarate too. At least they read the emails.

I watched almost all of the 20+ games Zarate played for Inter and he stunk the place out. Crap attitude, poor work ethic and scored only two goals.

Avoid at all costs.

Jamie (815) - is that the young winger (ex Phoenix) who's currently being scouted by Juve and the shite? Tidy player.

Kev Johnson says on another thread that Becchio from Leeds is too old at 29 for us to sign, even though we signed Distin aged neasrly 32. So, this can't be true, but we all know that what Kev wants is a place in the squad after last Summer so he would say that woudn't he!

This guy has only scored about 70 goals in over a decade. Let Fulham have him.

That's the one Chris.

Seen quite a lot of him and he's very useful. Not just a "YouTube player". Only question would be if he could do it in the Premier League... It's a massive step up from the A-League (where even Emile Heskey is quite prolific!).

That's correct James #806, I read about it too. He's at Huddersfield Town now on loan and still hard for him to adjust...

I'm glad at least one of new player coming in... welcome Leroy and hopefully this Igor coming in too. We need more goals to win so we can finish at 4th... Up the Blues, COYB!

Jamie - watched that link, he looks a tidy little player, although what is the standard of the league like?

I was surprised at the crowds, I didn't realise that the A League had such a following.

Jamie, that Del Piero "lad" is not doing too badly either. Unfortunately, if you're on the Phoenix side of the ditch

Jon - it is a league where Emile Heskey scores goals. Need I say more?

I would say it is a notch below MLS. Most clubs would struggle in the Championship.

However, amongst all the rubbish, I still reckon I you can spot the odd diamond.

They don't call him "The Kiwi Messi" for nothing!

It's not Championship level but he is a class player. He would do very well coming in and training for the rest of the year while playing reserves. Then loan out next season to a Championship club. After that, I think he would be good to go. Best player NZ has coming through since Ryan Nelson came on the scene.

Sounds like Moyes does not rate this bloke and he has now signed with Fulham.

His agent has confirmed that talks are ongoing with both Fulham and Everton, but no decision has been made as yet - SSN..
