Interest in 'keeper Balazs Megyeri
Megyeri impressed for the Greek side last season but has fallen out of favour this term due to the form of ex-Manchester United shot-stopper Roy Carroll. However, the 22-year-old has reclaimed his spot in the side in recent games following injury to Carroll, keeping three consecutive clean sheets.
His agent, Janos Hrutka, claims Everton tabled a bid for the keeper in last summer's transfer window but he preferred to stay in Greece.
"I can confirm the interest of Everton, Schalke and there has also been interest from teams in Spain," he told Nemzeti Sport.
"Everton made a financially good offer last summer but Balazs stayed in Athens as we thought it better for him to continue his career in Greece instead of starting a new one in England. And Olympiakos wanted him to stay too.
"At the moment there's an interest from the Premier League but fortunately his situation has improved at Olympiakos.

I would love Butland, but if it's not to be (I think he'd come to us if we were to make an offer, he wants Premier League, but also fist team) then signing a young keeper that Moyes has been watching for years seems like a good idea. Howard needs some competition.

I hope we get him. Some of the papers are making out that Birmingham will sell for £3.5m as they need the money asap. If we do get him I hope he works out a lot better than the last 'England Number 1' who spent most of his time falling out of lofts or getting injured in warm ups.

Speaking about his abilities: he doesn't impressed me very much a few years ago, when he was still playing in Hungary, but he somehow made the big jump, and became a top player in Greece. I believe he can be a good backup for Howard, and maybe a No 1 later.

Personally I am with Neville Southall on this one. Tim Howard is nowhere near as bad as some people make out and better goalkeepers are very few and far between (and would come with the requisite price-tag).
Not sure why people are so convinced that Butland is a potential messiah. Pretty sure I saw him make a calamitous mistake at the Olympics and like all goalkeepers his form could easily drop-off if enough things go wrong in a short space of time. Not difficult to look around and see plenty who were once flavour of the month. The ones who persist at the highest level (like Howard) are the ones everyone is looking for.
Overall, Butland would be an expensive gamble where we don't really need to, whereas someone like this lad could be decent immediate back-up and one for the future.
