by next season, it seems more like a horizontal movement rather than a step up~~~~ but if he does go, I would like to say "thank you very much" to him and wish him all the best.

I'm sure the Hunner fans will love his revolutionary 4-4-1-1 system and will look forward to having Phil Neville as their captain.

Moyes to move down soufth will all the sorferners? Can't see it happening. He and them don't talk the same football language. 'Arry might move across to Arsenal once he has spent all the money at QPR.

Paul, you've no idea what Moyes would do with extra resources and a stronger squad. He's played good football when we've been strong and in form so why not in a supposedly superior squad.

Arsenal did have that cheery bloke who played all that adventurous football Mr George Graham so David Moyes is not that far removed from an Arsenal type manager. In fact I do think they would suit him more than most clubs.

United, Chelsea and City want trophies, Arsenal would be less demanding and fourth would be more acceptable to them. We shall see what happens if Bayern Munich get a positive result on Tuesday. Mind you the threat of DM being their manager next season may inspire their players to win the CL.

If by some miracle Moyes ends up at Arsenal, I'll bet you a fiver there's a noticable decrease in their style of play. I can see it now, Wilshere put back in the reserves for 2 years while Mertesacker takes his place cos of his height and strength... doesn't matter that he can't create shit, he'll win flick-ons.

It's easier to keep fans happy when you win trophy after trophy while playing for a 1 nil, Graham brought success.

I could well believe this. It may suit him, lower expecations than other big clubs, likes a budget, and gives freedom to the manager

Moyes at Arsenal... I have not had a good laugh in ages!

Not winning games at Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool etc for the next 10 years... plus never winning a derby match against Tottenham must be a great comfort for The Emirates fans... ha! ha!

Let Arsenal fans have him!

Let us have Wenger in a swop deal for Moyes and we will give them Neville and Osman plus Stubbs and Weir to train their kids!

David Moyes should not be given the chance to sign another contract. His race is run, he has failed in ten years to win anything or even beat a top four team away. If season ticket holders want this crap for another five years they are as bad as Moyes and Kenwright.

Wish me luck as you wave me goodbye
Cheerio, here I go, on my way
Wish me luck as you wave me goodbye
Not a tear, but a cheer, make it gay
Give me a smile I can keep all the while
In my heart while I'm away
Till we meet once again you and I
Wish me luck as you wave me goodbye...

Goodbye everybody, I'll do my best for ye

What an amazing amount of rubbish gets written on here. Who do you lot think will take over from David Moyes and improve this club and its style of play. Lets take the current favourite Roberto Martinez. Things in common. He gets on well with his Chairman. He has no money to spend. He has to sell his better players. Things in his favour. He will be cheaper so that will suit Bill. His style of football is probably better. Thing against. He has flirted with relegation almost every season so it will be exciting for you lot not like boring old Moyes and his 5th, 6th and 7th place finishes. Yes lets get rid of him because you lot don't deserve him.

So the Gooners are all going mental because Wenger has not won anything for 8 years. Well, once Sergeant Major Moyes walks into town, they can expect the long foreseeable before anymore brasso is bought by the cleaners. The equivalent of a ginger Bruce Rioch is what they can expect.

If he does, fuck off, I can already see Kenwright wheeling out a fist thumping Duncan Ferguson as our next boss. I can hear the shite coming from Billy Liar's gob "Duncan's got the club in his veins" blah blah, while ham shanking over a rise in season ticket enquirers from seal-clapping lemons who fall for this con man.

Tony if David Moyes won't commit his future to us, without as is rumoured clauses in his contract, then it is only right that supporters speculate on who might take over at Goodison and which club David Moyes might go to.

It is not the fans who decide these things, it is the club and the current manager.

That's interesting, Tony. I have an almost masochistic desire to see Moyes go. Give all those on TW who despise you their wish, David, and leave. Then we'll see who replaces you. Not the crazy names some of the deluded are toying with who wouldn't even give us a second thought (Mourinho? huh!).

So, to the long list of those who've done pretty much fuck all, consistently. Take you pick.

What will be interesting then will be to see how quickly we fall below where we are. Let's face it, we all know what Moyes' weaknesses are, don't we (selection, tactics, substitutions) so I guess the new manager might just be as wise as all of us. In which case, you ain't allowed a season to find things out and feel things out, mate. You gotta be winning from day one. And then will we see excuses being made for the new guy? (but what could they be?) or will the new guy be shown the door by TWebbers? I eagerly await the post-Moyes discussion!

More media guff. Arsene Wenger is to be offered a 3-year extension by the club.

Oh well David, there's always Chelsea or Man City to go for. Oh...

Let's be honest, Moyes will be linked with every managers position that the press decide may be up for grabs.

Arsenal - going through a rough patch. Chelsea - only have an interim manager in place. Man U - Sralex about to retire.

Moyes has already stated he would like to manage in Germany, so he will also be linked with every club over there except Bayern.

I would take no notice whatsoever of any headline regarding his future between now and the end of the season.

He may even sign a new deal with us, but I wonder if the fans would forgive him for putting himself in the shop window? He may have just shot himself in the foot this time if he is playing games.

Arsenal are still a very conservative, old fashioned club who's main priority is paying off the Emirates.

So long as Wenger keeps them in the most lucrative tournament possible (Champions League) and keeps the wage bill and transfer kitty in check I doubt the board really give two hoots about trophies, particularly the FA Cup, or the style of play - providing bums are still hitting seats and revenue keeps pouring in.

The cracks are starting to show in this regard though - Top 4 used to be a formality, now it's a fight. Should they drop out of this slot and the mortgage payments start to hurt I think they'll move Wenger on and look for the next bright young thing that can maintain Top 4 and even make a profit from a relatively modest transfer kitty.

I know - probably rightly - many posters on here will guffaw at putting Moyes and Top 4 in the same sentence but I see him seriously making the shortlist when time's called on Wenger, which I also think could be within the next couple of years.

Close your eyes for a second and imagine Moyes standing in the Emirates technical area, black blaser on, red cannon on the pocket... I can see it..... cant you.....?

Seriously? They would want to get rid of a manager who has gave them CL qualification every year since he has been there, won 7 major trophies and is actually in the black when it comes to transfer dealings? The Emirates is close to being paid for, can you imagine the type of player they will soon attract? I really can see why they would want a manager with no European pedigree, hasn't won a single trophy and will play one formation and if that doesn't work, erm? No chance, but if the powers that be at Arsenal have all suffered acquired brain injuries then please take him and his entire back room staff of defenders, Round, Weir, Stubbs and Lumsden.

"...and will play one formation and if that doesn't work, erm?" – Maybe if he had better players he could expand his formation? Maybe if the board give him money to buy players instead of selling to buy, his team will get better not just level out or go backwards... just a thought like!

I hear a couple of years ago Arsenal fans had a facebook campaign to get Owen Coyle in as their manager. I think a few of those fans will be eating humble pie and thanking their lucky stars it didn’t work out for them. You would think they would have learnt a lesson to shut their stupid mouths.

Comedy Club time now is it? No current 'top' club is going to touch Moyes with a barge pole. They all want a manager who has a proven track record and has won something.

Wenger is not going anywhere, Chelsea were trying to get Guadiola ffs, Manure for DM - erm no. Citeh for DM - get real. Moyes is in a bind because he knows the clubs he wants to manage will not look at him and he probably thinks he has taken Everton as far as he can - after 11 years and nothing new aand shiny in the trophy cabinet, I would agree with him. Time for a change indeed (and no, the world will not end as we know if it Moyes leaves!).

He should at least have the dignity to say now if he's staying or not, rather than waiting to see if anything better comes along before June. Unfortunately I can't see a better opportunity coming his way and BK will likely pull out all the stops to keep him, so as to keep a manager who won't rock the boat.

As for who I'd like to have instead, really not fussed as long as they are relatively young and come with a fresh approach and importantly already have some experience of managing a (relatively) large club, and preferably with European experience. Maybe a former player of note with a 4-5 years managing experience. I.e. not friggin Phillip Neville!

Time will tell - looking forward to the change, whenever it comes.

The words of Arsene Wenger carry considerable weight amongst the members of the Arsenal board. Wenger has singled out Dragan Stojkovic as his successor. A cultured man like Wenger would probably shudder at the suggestion that Moyes be Arsenal's next manager. Wenger has very strong opinions about how football should be played, and he is likely to view Moyes's brand of football as sheer philistinism.

Chelsea may struggle to get the name they are after because of the relationship issues there between manager and owner so may have to drop their expectations. On the other hand, can't see Moyes being too keen to work with him either.

I'm sure I read somewhere that the Arsenal stadium will be paid for by the summer so there will be extra cash for Wenger to spend, (although he has spet a fair few quid in the last 3 or 4 years, just not very well) which might the reason for the alleged 2 year extension he go so stroppy about in the press conference. His last chance to prove he's still got it.

I can't help thinking that if and when The Special One decides to leave Madrid, it's going to precipitate one hell of a managerial merry-go-round in the Premier League. The thing is, he wants Man Utd and Ferguson's not budging. Yet.

Mancini's position is unstable, Wenger's having a severe wobble, Benitez is a dead man walking, Rodgers is safe for now but may well be in danger next season. Then we have Moyes, shrouded in mist....

Latest Poll from F365 :

Who would you rather have as Arsenal manager?

Arsene Wenger 38%
David Moyes 17%
Manuel Pellegrini 9%
Michael Laudrup 18%
Owen Coyle 18%

It's the final Super Sunday of the season, somehow Everton have managed to remain in 5th place and Chelsea have been overtaken by Spurs who have sealed 3rd position. There is just a point between the clubs, and nobody from behind them can catch up with both. Benitez is unlikely to hold onto his job even if he gets the result that he wants despite winning the FA Cup.
David Moyes is hot favourite to take over from Rafa once the season has been completed.

A draw seals CL football for the home team, so Everton need to win the game to gain CL football.

If you are in David Moyes shoes what team would you pick?

Tony J Williams

Depends on who's fit, Patrick, and who has been playing well recently.
Kev Johnson
767 Posted 19/02/2013 at 12:41:22
In answer to your question, Patrick: Phil Neville and ten others. However, it's not such a dilemma as you suggest since, no matter what the circumstances, Moyes will always go for a draw. If it's 1-1 with ten minutes to go, he'd probably take off Jelavic and put on Duffy.

Imagine Abromovich promised him the job and told him he intends to bring Barkely to Stamford Bridge...

"Er, I hear what you're saying, Mr Abromovich, but I don't really fancy him."

"I fancy him, David. I fancy him. We're going to buy him - and we're going to play him. Do you understand?"

[Deathly silence]

"I want to be entertained, David. Dance for me."

Patrick Murphy

Kev,

It's a scenario similar to the one I outlined – even if it is an unlikely one – which means we cannot just wait until the season is completed to find out if DM decides to stay or go. His decision making has at all times to be for the benefit of Everton FC.

Kev Johnson
774 Posted 19/02/2013 at 13:04:33
Absolutely, Patrick. But while I can just about entertain the possibility of that final game being make or break for us in terms of the Champions League, I cannot for a split second imagine that Chelsea and Moyes will end up in bed together. (Mind you, if Sven Goran Erikson and Ulrika Jonsen can do the deed, I suppose anything is possible!)

I can only hope this rumour is true as it takes arsenal even further away from the top 4
