Moyes scouts hot Dutch prospect

03/04/2013 | Comments (15)
Dutch media sources report that David Moyes is interested in Vitesse Arnhem prospect Marco van Ginkel.

The 20 year-old midfielder has been attracting a lot of attention this season with his performances in the Eredivisie and has been linked with a move to Norwich City in the last week or so.

Moyes is said to watched Van Ginkel in action against Zwolle on Sunday as he continues to plan for Everton's future even if his own remains unsettled.

Unless they played on Sunday, it's unlikely Moyes was there watching. He was at the Bellew fight on Saturday night. Either way, probably a load of bollocks.

it's just a short hop to schipol from JLI and 45 mins drive to Arnhem, methinks it's quite possible.....

Much better value (and often talent) in the dutch, French, German and Spanish leagues these days than in our own back yard.

Not heard that much of Van Ginkel but if he's similarly talented to the likes of Jordy Clasie, Kevin Strootman and Adam Maher then he's doing alright.

Peter - You beat me to it as I was about to say I was speaking to him at our kids fight on Saturday night, so got to presume just another poor rumour.

By the way, the game was played on Sunday. 2:30 (Dutch time) — Zondag is Sunday. He could've also maybe looked at Bony.

Can confirm my brother flew out of Manchester on Sunday morning to watch Ajax play and Moyes WAS on the same plane

Sam - you are spot on. Not much value in the English market - much better players for your cash abroad and I would think we could get what we need from those leagues you've mentioned as well as the Belgian league too.
Moyes does right to scout away from England.

Just goes to show how much work he puts in, never seems to stop.

20-year-old, eh? — be in the first team about 2018.

Well if he was there, and it was to watch a player, and we didn't already know it (in my opinion anyway) then Moyes is going nowhere......nobody scouts players for a club that they're considering leaving.

Is he the one who bought his girlfriend a Giraffe and found she lived in a bungalow?

Van Ginkel played a horrible match. Mokhtar, of PEC Zwolle, his direct opponent was so much faster!

Tonny Vilhena or Jean-Paul Boëtius of Feyenoord?

Siem de Jong or Daley Blind from Ajax?

It is sad we can't seem to bring through our own young players on a more regular basis, but if the kids got something why not?

Although if he was that good we wouldn't be in the running surely and it's probably bollocks, I'm in a pessimistic mood.

Well, we all know Moyes's record with Dutch players, don't we?
