Blues eye Basel defender

Everton have "moved ahead of Arsenal" in the race to sign Basel defender Aleksander Dragovic, talkSPORT report.

The 22 year-old Austrian international caught the eye in the Swiss side's Europa League games against Tottenham recently and the Blues could snap him up for as little as £4m.

Could be a good buy... he scored against Tottenham in the Europa League.

Great — we can use the Leeroy Fer money, seeing how we didn't spend it because of his dodgey knee. It makes me laugh how we get linked with players on a daily basis yet we can't afford a box of Tea Bags from Aldi.

James- Would be a fantastic acquisition. I've only seen him play in those two legs against Spurs, but on the night he was one of their better players.

And apparently Spurs didn’t even notice him!!

He can sit next to Oviedo and Duffy on the bench in the hope of getting 5 minutes a game if he's lucky.

Edward - Thanks. I guess we can add him to the list of . . . . . . .whatever we call these fine players we don't sign. The Kenright 24/7ers?

Strootman will be the next phantom bid. Expect a 10m offer and then United offer 15m and surprise surprise we miss out on our man come deadline day

I think we will actually see some new players come in this Summer. Moyes has admitted that if he stays he needs to rebuild and if he doesnt then the new man in will want to put his stamp on the squad. Plus we are losing Neville, almost definitely Fellaini and possibly Baines or Heitinga.

Quite fancy the likes of Dragovic, bruno martins, etienne Capoue. Jordie Clasie or Remy.

There will be no player movement, in or out of the club, until the manager situation is clarified. No (decent) player is going to join a club when he doesnt know who the manager will be next season.

All current transfer arctictles involving Everton are total bollocks. Complete non story.

Same story at Chelsea Denis, but they are about to sign Schurle. Don't count out the pull of the premier league wages to some of these players. A much bigger attraction than who your coach will be.

Why are we linked to another defender? We have just payed £3mil for Stones and we have Duffy and Oviedo and Hibbo for back up. It's a couple off midfielders and a striker we need.

My targets
Benteke (If Villa go down)
Siem De Jong (Ajax)
Alderweireld of Ajax to replace Heitinga.

Seems like a good player, and we need young players.

A player I would like us to buy is the striker Andreas Cornelius. He' s only 20 yrs old, a big lad, and with 18 goals in 30 games I believe he's got the "IT".

Cornelius won't come cheap, though I reckon somewhere 7-10 million pounds should temp Danish giants FC Copenhagen where Cornelius does his trade.

Watched Dragovic tonight and he was first class. Strong in the air, fast and he can play. He'll probably go to Southampton or Cardiff or any other team who prefer to do their business before the end of August.

Colin #826 - I agree. With the exception of the wild two footed challenge he was exceptional. Unfortunately he misses the next match from suspension. Otherwise he was great. Not scared to come forward either and has a great eye for a pass, made two fantastic passes in the 2nd half and they weren't hoofed either

Ah, the silly season has started early.
